Why Hillary Clinton is going after voter ID laws?

Does Hillary think she is going to get 97% of the black vote...or even inspire a significant minority voter turnout? I mean..I know she is really relatable and has such a close relationship with the black community and all. I think she even attended a black church that one time when she was campaigning...

The problem is not voter Id's, it is requiring very specific photo Id's and preventing people from using other forms of identification.

Since there are millions of fraudulent ID's in use today, it seems reasonable to take some steps to insure the vote is as legitimate as possible.

If people are able to illegally obtain identification, it strikes me as a false argument to suggest hardship for other people who are legitimately attempting to get a photo ID.

And she has been heard making more than a few anti-semitic comments...so...you may have a point.

And if she works on that Kim Kardashian booty...in those pants suits? Well...she could definitely drop it!

But should they also make getting a state I'd simple, free of charge?

It is probably wishful thinking to think Republicans are going to spend money on handing out voter IDs. After all, we don't let people register for a gun free of charge do we? And last time I checked, that too is a constitutional right.

Being a hopelessly heterosexual male, what really concerns me the most is that the "Hillary Clinton look" will become as popular among women as the "Jackie Kennedy" look.

Apparently it is free in NC.

Racism at the Drugstore
Gov. Pat McCrory of North Carolina has signed a new election-law reform, which includes a requirement, starting in 2016, that voters show a government-issued ID--available from the state free of charge.

You know what comes next:

Democrats and minority groups say the new law will suppress voting and it make it harder for minorities, the elderly and youth to cast ballots. The American Civil Liberties Union and other civil rights groups have vowed to fight the changes.

"It is a trampling on the blood, sweat and tears of the martyrs--black and white--who fought for voting rights in this country," the Rev. William Barber, president of the state chapter of the NAACP, told The Associated Press. "It puts McCrory on the wrong side of history." The chapter has filed its own legal challenge to the measure.

Meanwhile, the Washington Times reports that the CVS drugstore chain "has instituted a policy in the Washington D.C. region that anyone who purchases nail polish remover from one of their stores will have their ID scanned and their purchases tracked."

Is this racist? By the logic of voter-ID opponents, certainly. Purchasing nail-polish remover may not seem like a basic civil right, but if a shop adopted a policy of selling the stuff only to persons of pallor, it would clearly be outrageous and illegal. Likewise if it required would-be buyers to pass a "literacy test" obviously designed as a barrier to minorities.

So how can ID requirements be racially discriminatory only in the context of voting? No one has ever managed to answer that question satisfactorily.

Why make the change if there's NOT a voter fraud problem in the US?

Maybe because it's not about voter fraud. Unless of course you can prove voter fraud is a problem? Can you?

Is having ID to vote really an intrusion on peoples lives? How so?
No, but making it harder for a segment to vote by eliminating days that are convenient to vote is.

Who cares if it's inconvenient? It's called election DAY for a reason, and don't forget early voting for anyone other than those qualifying for absentee ballots is a fairly recent phenomena...

But why take it away? What is fraudulent about that?

I didn't post that it was fraudulent. I just believe that we, as a country, have established a voting day and it should be observed. A lot can happen in the three to four weeks before an election. It could be a 24 hour period to accommodate all work schedules...

I do not understand the resistance to requiring a photo ID to Vote. Here are only SOME of the things that require a Photo ID. What makes Voter ID so evil?

The fear among Democrats is that it may restrict the number of times they can vote. Apparently, if a person is allowed to vote only once, there is a possibility that a Republican might be elected.
