U.S. Expats Balk at Tax Law[W:82]

Re: U.S. Expats Balk at Tax Law

I see. Former Americans shouldn't have the same rights as other aliens in the U.S.?

Former Americans, like all foreigner citizens wouldn't be allowed into the United States, so that's not an issue. The only outsiders who would be allowed in would be those intending to immigrage to the US, and then only after a significant quarantine period, proof of their ability to adhere to US Culture and a total breaking of all ties with the outside world.

Re: U.S. Expats Balk at Tax Law

Where have I ever discussed Freedom as a principle that I belive to be among the most important for this or any nation?

Just pointing out that most aint like you and wont bite on that proposal of yours. Freedom is a big deal in this country. For you maybe not a prime principle for me its THE prime principle. That's why I think you are very strange. If the government tried anything remotely like it would be artillery time. By the way I noticed you were making statements that implied you were in favor of complete isolation or so near it as to be it. Am I to presume that you are looking at say a North Korea type or stricter isolation?

Actually, if you bothered to do any research whatsoever, tax evasion stems from people at poverty levels to the super rich. Manual laborers who get paid under the table cause the deficit to rise. As do people who deposit funds from sales of US assets into foreign accounts. Try being less of a partisan hack job and do a little research before posting? Okay? Can you attempt to do that? Google Use it.
This is the kind of stupidity that leads people like you to support stuff like FACTA, where you're attacking 1/10th of 1% of the problem, instead of attacking where the bulk of it occurs, which isn't with those at the poverty levels and the super rich. Please do yourself a favor and learn how to do some basic thinking for yourself.

I am well aware that most Americans don't agree with me. That's part of our problem in this country. Freedom is only useful when people can be trusted to use it properly. I would suggest that most modern Americans cannot be trusted in that way at this point.

It would be similar to North Korea. The main difference being that people would have the option to choose whether they wanted to stay or not. Those who chose to go would lose their citizenship (and money, property, etc....) at the border and never be allowed back. There would be no international communication or contact either.

Re: U.S. Expats Balk at Tax Law

Didn't the former Soviet Block try that with a wall and guns?

There were justifiable reasons for people wanting to escape the Soviet Union. Thinking you deserve not pay to taxes when every ounce of wealth you produced only exists because the entire American public invested in its protection and the world spanning infrastructure (trillions of dollars in protecting trade routes and shipping lanes from criminal activity) to manufacture it doesn't pass for a justifiable reason.

I would ask, who owns the result of your labor first Yourself or the state.
If the state owns the result of your labor first, we have not ended slavery,
just made the plantation bigger.
Allowing the Government to restrict who can leave our gathering is a VERY dangerous
precedent to set.

So does letting them leave with it.

Private property exists, but republican societies also have responsibilities and duties, adherence to which make it possible for everyone to have property. Leaving "our gathering" is leaving behind those obligations and duties.

There should be an appropriate cost to the property you were able to gather while still under the community's collective protection, since we were counting on that wealth being in our economy to build more wealth for everyone.

On another level, I simply don't care that much about what happens to people who abandon our civilization -- especially when I blame most of them for running our civilization into the ground to begin with.

You don't European vacationers to enjoy the Grand Canyon and contribute to the tourist industry? You don't want foreign citizens to be able to visit family members in the U.S.? Pretty harsh.

After they have paid their taxes, it belongs to them to do with as they please, it's called freedom.

I don't want foreigners of any ilk having any more impact on our society, economy, etc... than absolutely necessary. I don't want American citizens to be able to email, snail mail, phone, or skype with their non-American relatives.

There's an awful lot of people around here who don't live in the same reality as normal folks.

:lamo: now that is funny stuff right there....let's not get carried away there tig...

And another truism coming to pass...When you unfairly try to go after the wealthy and tax their success they just leave because they can afford to do so...So who's next in the progressive push for so called "income justice"? Well, it would have to be the middle class....and they can't afford to run....Buckle up people.

More evidence that the rich hate America and only want to exploit it for money.

And more evidence that conservatives aren't patriots. It's all about what they can get.

More evidence that the statist hate success and only want to take what was never theirs to take.

And more evidence that statists aren't Americans, it's about tearing down this country.

See how that works?

If you don't believe the country would be better off if everyone agreed with you, then that says something unpleasant about your view of your own socio-political philosophy.
