Armed man arrested near White House wanted ‘fire a couple of shots,’ police say

And he's from Texas. Raise your hand if you saw that coming.

*hand raised*

Do you think if he was from Chicago, it would begin "An Illinois man......". Of course not. Typical media bias.

And by the way, a LOT more people die in Illinois from gun violence than Texas. And they have laws against guns.

With that much ammunition I would expect he was gearing up for the apocalypse or something. But I can't think of a reason to do what he did, unless all he wanted was attention and he got that.

200 rounds is not a lot of ammunition. I wouldn't go to the range with less than that for any one of my firearms. It's four boxes and consumes very little space in a back pack. Most major ammo retailers routinely sell 250 round boxes in that calibre as well.

There is now way that article leads with Illionois or Chicago man had he been from there.

I'm suprised they also didn't say he was a tea party racist gun nut in addition to being from Texas.

You might want to check that statistic. I'm pretty sure you're incorrect. Both the number of gun murders and the per 100,000 people gun murders. Texas wins both.

Five more kids in Chicago died while you typed that. They're dropping like flies.

So what. You're still wrong.

And now I know that you will post incorrect information to advance your agenda and then exaggerate in ANOTHER attempt to further your agenda. You partisans are all alike.

Good on the Secret Service agent who spotted him. Something sounds not quite right about his story--I am suspecting mental illness or very low IQ.

I agree, if a chicago man did this the media wouldn't say Illinois man, they'd say Chicago man...

Now about who has a lot more gun deaths-

Daily beast 2010

Illinois had 8 per 100,000 tied with Nebraska

Now who had more-
Maine
N Dakota
Utah
Colorado
TEXAS with 10.7
Kansas
N Carolina
Missouri
Georgia
Idaho
Oklahoma with 13.4
Tennessee with 15
W Virginia
Kentucky
Wyoming with 14.5 along with Montana
Alabama
Arkansas
Alaska with 17.6
Mississippi with 18.3

Another way to look at this-
Texas had approx 26 million folks in 2010
Illinois 12.8 million

So Texas has a higher firearm death rate per 100,000 AND over double the population.

So yeah Texas has more in total and more per 100,000.

That's not true at all....more total gun deaths and more murders per inhabitant happen in Texas. Fox News rots your brain.

Edit: Hahaha! google probably had a meltdown of people searching "gun deaths by state"

Gun deaths is a completely different measurement than he used. If you wish to be dishonest at least be less blatant about it.

How dare you put numbers to that claim you gun grabby fascist freedom hating person who uses logic and reason. It is so not right for you to just completely disprove the BS claims of the gun nuts. You and your truth.

You mean like how wonderfully Obama's last gun violence study went. I bet that backed up your claims.

Of course, the problem isn't that this guy was going to shoot at the White House, the problem is that conservative Texans are being persecuted by the media.

There's no way you can claim IL has a high amount or higher rate of gun deaths, or any kind of murder, than Texas without being dishonest. You have no basis at all to call his comment dishonest, the facts are the facts.

There are far fewer assholes in Texas too...see a pattern?

Yes, absolutely I think they would have written that. But have fun with your hypothetical media bias. Meanwhile, I don't see the story on the Fox News front page at all... WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO HIDE? :lamo

Obama does research on gun violence? Huh, learn something every day!

I am on your side. It was completely not fair of him to use actual numbers when clearly us gun lovers were pulling stuff out of our butts. here we all were shouting complete BS and having fun and debbie downer over there just had to ruin it with reality. And now all we are left with is vague allusions to studies we cannot even post numbers from to disprove him. It is just not nice to prove someone wrong on the internet, even when we were so obviously incorrect.

Seriously, how do we know this guy was going to do something wrong with those guns? Like we said 200 rounds is not a whole lot, and how many people would actually be around the presidents house anyway? It is perfectly safe to go shooting right there, and we should have the right to just pop off a couple of shots without regard to things like innocent bystanders or the home of the leader of our country. I am sure the guy is stable and safely handles his firearms. After all he had them loaded and in his backpack where I am sure they were completely secure. It is not like anyone has ever had something stolen from a backpack before. Truly this man is a hero and facts be damned. no really damn those facts for screwing up a perfectly good session of gun crazy talk.
