Texas Senate confiscates tampons while debating anti-abortion bill [W:155]

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

It doesn't matter what you say; while ignoring the facts--that the DPS received a tip, following which the troopers searched every bag and confiscated stuff that could be thrown, which included jars of feces as well as tampons--the meme is being whipped up that Texas senators and troopers are askeered of tampons and--aha!!--this is proof of their lack of respect for women, and blah-blah-blah.

That was going to be my next point, that they didn't JUST confiscate tampons and pads. Those were just among many things that were confiscated.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

You're saying they should be shot? Be interesting to see who, if anyone, takes issue with your proposed solution.

If they brought loaded shotguns, nobody would have confiscated them.

Maybe we need a "right to bear feminine hygeine products" amendment.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

There was a threat and they confiscated everything they thought might be used as a projectile and thrown at legislators. This is NOT unreasonable. Those tampons could have been used, and THAT is a biological hazard.

Okay - there's a threat that guys are going to throw their skivvy shorts (that's briefs for all you sidewalking sandcrabs), so it's NOT UNREASONABLE to require to confiscate all men's skivvy shorts!

Don't bother them with facts; their minds are already made up.

What's lost in this discussion is the fact that the protesters hoped to so disrupt the proceedings that the vote, once again, wouldn't be taken. Oh, and that they were willing to assault their elected reps with excrement.

I call them underwear, but whatever. Yes, if there is a threat, nobody knows what could be in the underwear. YOU can assume they are clean new underwear if you prefer, but they could contain just about anything.

That's the proposal that has repeatedly been advocated by Republicans. Since the Republican controlled Texas legislature allows loaded shotguns into the capital building, and Republicans advocate pursuing second amendment solutions to silence discourse, then the protesters should act on the recommendations of Republicans. Certainly someone like you, a self identified conservative, shouldn't have a problem with a Republican advocated solution to discourse.

It's funny how you all dislike the idea of people having guns until the suggestion of shooting Republicans gets made, then it's all about the 2nd amendment. Lol.

So you're just going to keep repeating the feces/urine thing and refuse to substantiate it, huh?

I could never work with the public like that. If some bitch ever threw a tampon at me, I would pick it up, walk over to her and make her eat it.

And how many liberals here have complained about the confiscation of 'jars of feces'?

ZERO.

But when it comes to tampons and maxi-pads still in the wrapper...

HORROR! IT'S A TAMPONADO! IT'S A MAXI-PADNADO! EVERYBODY TAKE COVER!!!! Hey! There's a woman with a tampon still in the wrapper! Get her!!!!

Oh, you, sir, the sociopath that's carrying an AR-15 with lots of extra banana-clips of ammo, you can go right on ahead, you're good to go....

Left wing logic at it's finest.

Enough with the ridiculousness. Nobody was "getting" anyone. They made them drop their tampons in a box. That is ALL.

At which point you would be rightly prosecuted by the state for assault. If you had instead reported her for simple assault, you could have made your point...but by physically assaulting her yourself, it's you who has become the villain.

The tampons and maxi-pads are STILL personal property. The idea that the state would confiscate such from everyone carrying any - while allowing idiots with loaded guns to walk freely by - is ludicrious.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

It was a specific threat of disturbance. Ignoring it would be inconsiderate to all those involved.

Ahhh so cotton and cardboard is the same as pitchforks and Molotov cocktails????

Still seems awfully 'liberal' to punish all women for what a few MIGHT do....

I didn't say ignore, but taking away female hygiene products is absurdly.... well wimpy, no other way to say it. it doesn't stop shoethrowing, or yelling, chanting or clapping... so the confiscation is bad PR.

Now the standard for confiscation is 'inconsiderate'??? Are you really reading what you type in relationship to so many other 'over reaching gubmint' arguments the right flings at the fan hoping to make a huge distraction from lack of policy?

Seems to me when it comes to issues that loom large for many citizens of the State of Texas some disruption is to be expected. Protest is an American as lobbyist funded 'fact finding' missions to St Croix.

Guns are personal property too. I certainly hope to hear you speak up next time some politician wants to infringe on our second amendment and property rights.

Bottom line, these protesters are retards. They better think of some better way to get their point across because this way makes them look like morons, as well as their supporters.

That's right. In the poll thread to which I responded to you, I stated that there are multiple threads on this. If you're too lazy to look for them, too bad. So much easier, I suppose, to suggest that I'm lying and that I need to substantiate facts that have been posted since yesterday and which are available to you.

I mean, I wouldn't want you to take the inordinate amount of time it would take to Google.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

This is actually false. Generally speaking, open carry of firearms in public is in fact a violation of Texas state law. So unless all those shotguns were concealed somehow...

By the way, if there were people who threatened to throw tampons they probably did so to elicit this kind of response and thus create national outcry. If there were people who had threatened to open fire inside the building, they would probably have been raided by SWAT teams and/or shot.

It should also be noted that if anyone actually had tried to fire on the assembly they probably would have been killed by a bystander or one of the politicians, half of which were probably carrying firearms.

But really. This issue is not about guns. It is about asshats making threats to throw things in order to elicit a response from the government. The contents of the threat or the projectiles in question do not matter.

Regardless of your beliefs, you do not make threats to throw things at anyone, period.

No more a retard than the tea party ranters who broke up usually civil town hall meetings with screams and cries of 'i want my country back', Get gubmint out of my life(but keep medicare and SSI) and angry old fat white guys shaking in outrage spouting about revolution....

but then again the biggest retards are the Texas GOP state legislatures who think all this work on abortion will pass court review- far bigger problems to work on and hear they are, repeating the way futile waste of taxpayer money pandering to their base.

Speaking and yelling are NOT assault, unless they make specific threats. THAT is what meetings are for, for people to spout off. When you cross the line and act like a child, throwing feminine hygiene products, feces and urine, then you are crossing a line into insanity.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Not to mention self-degradation.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

He certainly did suggest using them as "a solution" but I guess your concern only extends to anyone who isn't Republican (the only good one being a dead one amirite?).

So, in answer to my question, nobody. Not surprised.

And usually you are of sterner stuff... he never said shoot anyone, you are jumping to conclusions just like the liberals you speak against.

Many 'conservatives' tried to frame Kokesh's march on Washington as an 'armed march', not an armed revolt. flipping that script gets a few 'conservatives' freaking out and claiming it means shot 'em all....

From the highly partisan 'conservative' POV I can see how one would call the protesters retards, just as I see the tea party town hall disruptors as retards and hypocrites- they want the programs that fund their lives continued- but not those other ones!

I think it was a most excellent way, thanks to the over reaction of the GOP. Taking away their tampons before being permitted to watch 'democracy' at work is a powerful message- take the poop and piss away- I get that, I agree- it is the tampon seizures under the cover of a 'specific threat'- imagine Obama doing something like that under the thin veil of 'specific threat'????

You would fill a few bottles with feces as soon as you heard about it.... :2wave:

It's clear what he means. You're just playing dumb, then again, maybe you aren't.
