But President Obama was going to make the world like us again. Oh my, what went so horribly wrong?

This is similar to other "scandals" surrounding the Obama administration at this time. In this case, it's not so much that the data mining is so pervasive, it's that the government hasn't been honest with the American people since this story broke.

The Obama administration has been blatantly dishonest about so many things that this doesn't seem as surprising as all these things pile up. This one is no longer just a national security issue, and it's no longer just an embarrassment to President Obama who appears powerless with his pronouncements that no one is listening too - this is now an embarrassment for the American people that voted for Obama.

Don't know if I can agree with everything you stated; there are still millions and millions of Obama apologists out there.

How many think its OK to spy on Americans with Obama as president?

How many think its OK to kill civilians with Obama's drone program?

How many think its OK for the US government to sell weapons to drug dealers and have firearms cross an international border illegally (Fast & Furious) as long as the government does it?

There is still plenty of support from the Obamabots.

The record's stuck, the record's stuck, the record's stuck.

The record is stuck on the CIA charter that says the CIA is to help USA Corporations overseas. You probably think they are there to help you, eh? I very simply identified how that statement relates to the current NSA eavesdropping. Take a lesson.

There is no such charter.

I actually don't blame Obama, or Bush. I blame the American people for letting this happen, for letting their emotions get the better of them while their government usurped more and more power from them. The U.S. government is out of control and needs to be stopped. I wish the People would get off their fat lazy asses and do something about it.

DP is a miniscule sample representing a microcosm of the American society. Here's a better picture. Even 45 or 46% of the American public who think Obama is doing a good job shows millions and millions of people still support his policies.

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports™

I wonder what the results would be if they were asked specifically what they think of the spying operation?

There is no such charter.

No written charter.

Or maybe it's written, but in private hands?

Who knows, but what he says is right in general terms. The CIA and Wall Street are kinda like blood brothers.

I cannot disagree a word!

But the other side of the coin is that, just as Ike warned of in 1961, there are bad guys at work in the halls of government, and it ain't the first time it's happened amongst humans.

The people have become complacent and we do have the government we deserve, but there has been a steady effort to achieve what we have today.

Complete nonsense.:lamo:lamo:lamo

From CNBC:

Brussels has threatened to suspend two data sharing agreements with the US, in an escalation of transatlantic tensions over claims that America's intelligence agencies have been spying on European citizens and embassies...

In a letter to U.S. senior officials, Cecilia Malmström, the EU's home affairs commissioner, said unless the U.S. could demonstrate that it was respecting bloc data security laws it would be forced to halt a deal that gives U.S. authorities access to Europeans' financial transaction data and airline passenger information.

Brussels Threatens to Suspend Data Sharing with US in Spying Row

Hopefully, adequate safeguards and constraints--both of which are likely necessary--will be adopted when it comes to the NSA's programs vis-a-vis U.S. allies. If not, actions have consequences and it now appears that a possible loss of data sharing that is important for detecting illicit travel and money laundering/tax evasion could be on the table.

Complete nonsense.:lamo:lamo:lamo

Which part is the nonsense? The "charter" that you seek? Or the fact that Wall Street and CIA are very much like blood brothers?

It's a well-known fact that the politicians of the American government is in bed with the super-rich. Guess who controls all the other parts of government including the CIA?

As for the OP, this is a blatant violation of individual liberties, possibly international law, and is also just plain rude.

I hope this blows up in the Governments' face big-time.

Bud, it ain't "America" doing this, it is our GOVERNMENT. They've grown beyond our control, and it is past time we took back the keys.

I think that's what people have to remember its not the American people in fact they are also victims in this.

I worked there almost 34 years. I know they are not.

That explains it Jack!

Somebody that worked for the CIA for 34 years, and who is not a famous whistleblower sitting in a federal prison somewhere, would definitely never have an axe to grind, and would always tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

No, I've read enough about it on my own Jack. Buzzy K and his brother are but 2 examples of CIA types who went through the revolving door to Wall Street. It's old news indeed.

I know BK. You have it all wrong.

It's not so much that the CIA and Wall Street are somehow in cohoots together...more like, people of great power, prestige, or influence...tend to travel in the same circles. Birds of a feather and all that jazz.

Moneyed interests absolutely play a large role in politics, of course. So in a way, there is a connection. But that same connection exists for all branches of government.

Poor and middle class people tend to move in the same circles also and each have political groups to whom they are loyal. In fact the politicians tend to pay more attention to these groups during election time that anyone else. Of course after the election it can change.

Ignorance and denial can be comfortable, but they won't lead you anywhere good.:peace

Oh I'm not in denial--maybe I'm being gullible but I think you were indeed with the Agency.

Whether you were or not really doesn't matter. Too many books and articles have been written about the revolving door between the Agency & Wall Street. One need not be a rocket scientist to understand how it works. I read the book about Nugan-Hand a very long time ago.
