Obama Clashes with African Host over Gay Rights.....

Good thing that is not what is happening here isn't it? Nice try at diverting from MMC's vile post though.

Still being dishonest due to lack of comprehension.....this isn't surprising at all coming from the Progressive Slant.

Dude get this fact straight in your head.....the piece isn't about me or really what I think about Obama.

Its about Obama telling those in the Muslim world to accept what he says as the Word itself. Specifically those in Africa. Here he says to treat Gays equally and you with those on the left haven't even talked about how Women are treated. Let alone Gays.

Whats up with the Hypocrisy thing on treat all Equally! Did ya want to rush over the Rights of Women and Children.....so you can run Right to those that live the Gay Lifestyle. Ready to throw all the women and Children under the Bus.....just as long as those Gays get those Rights, huh?

Where is your anger about that? Whats up with the lefts hypocrisy with their mouths over such Rights of ALL others and not some specific interest group that Obama can play to here in the US.

So your position is that no one should comment on issues in other countries? Seriously, when you where just praising an islamic anti-gay world leader you where not so ridiculous appearing...

What the hell are you talking about? Why would I talk about women in a topic that isn't about women? And don't pull this **** of giving me responsibility for something you think someone else said.

MMC is a conservative. Your use of the plural in this case is wildly inaccurate.

I am only conservative with my money time and energy.....I am a Republican. At least talk about what you know for a Change.....not what you assume.

You're assuming that because someone argues that gays should have equal rights in the world that they automatically don't care about women's rights or the rights of children. This is a dishonest debate tactic at best. You can't assume that. And you are only doing so because your arguments in this thread have show to be so weak. You should be ashamed to be arguing such dishonest and embarrassing points like these.

I am a liberal. That does not change the fact that you extrapolated from one to many, something I just yesterday criticized a conservative for doing. Also note that many conservatives are for SSM. I know of no conservatives outside of maybe MMC who think homosexuality should be criminalized.

Can you show me where I said I back criminalization of homosexuality. Do you have a link for this anywhere on this site?

So once again you attempt to assume and try to do that thinking for another. Leading a dishonest concept and then try to embellish on it. Looks like you just got busted out.

Produce the link.....as in Put up or U know.....HIt the Road Jack! ;)

Pick on him, but use the meaningful stuff will you. Or at least go for the relevant Obama loves fudgepackers angle. Are you really bothered Obama did not force that guy to change his country's laws to accept gays?

So then why is it trending again? Why are those overseas all excited over Obama clashing with this leader? Seems those in the Muslim world were quite interested. Even if those on the left in the US aren't!!!!!

why does fear or contempt have to be the rationality for their policy?

I find your response far more ridiculous.

couldn't they simply be misguided?

I think our policy on how we treat drug addicts pretty stupid. Is everyone that wants to continue to put heroine users in jail scared or have contempt for the users?

basically, yes

None of that goes against anything that I said. You're just rambling on about how parts of the world are very back wards. I never sad that it wasn't.

Right you just assumed you thought the Article was about some interpretation of mine. Rather than look at the fact of what he is telling that Muslim Leader of a Country. What their Reactions are and why it is problem which Sall expounded upon.

There is not much difference between a Conservative, and a group that performs public executions of women and non-believers?

It always interesting to "view" the theoretical puff of smoke that evidences the vaporization of another liberal/progressive in the arc flash of hate they promote among themselves.

Well done. :applaud

(Although I might suggest you limit such confirming communications to less visible public venues. Must maintain the party of tolerance meme you know)

Tolerance of racism, bigotry and discrimination is no virtue.

There is no doubt about 1000 years of difference between the Taliban and the right wing, but the aim and justifications are much the same.

Seriously....perhaps the problem starts with yourself wherein you attempt to think for others. Then use deceit to think you can get some roll out. Now wheres the link that says I back the ****. Did you still want to try and tell me and others what I think or feel? Or do I need to address that idiocy further?

Does seem odd though that Obama would focus on gays instead of women in this situation. He is becoming obsessed with the gay issue. Maybe because that is the only thing he can call a victory lately.

Well I figured if you can assume for me....that you were doing so for those others in Muslim Countries that have no Rights either. That you just Covered All those basics.

Obama got some smack down put upon him by the Leader of Senegal today. Obama thought he could push the Gay Right Agenda outside the US. He was given an answer he didn't want to here. Then had to make sure he didn't bite his lip and show that bewildered look.

President Barack Obama on Thursday praised the Supreme Court's ruling on same-sex marriage as a "victory for American democracy" but clashed with his African host over gay rights in a sign of how far the movement has to go internationally.

Obama said recognition of gay unions in the United States should cross state lines and that equal rights should be recognized universally. It was his first chance to expand on his thoughts about the ruling, which was issued Wednesday as he flew to Senegal, one of many African countries that outlaw homosexuality.

Senegalese President Macky Sall rebuffed Obama's call for Africans to give gays equal rights under the law.

"We are still not ready to decriminalize homosexuality," Sall said, while insisting that the country is "very tolerant" and needs more time to digest the issue without pressure. "This does not mean we are homophobic."

But Obama said he wants to send a message to Africans that while he respects differing personal and religious views on the matter, it's important to have nondiscrimination under the law.

"People should be treated equally, and that's a principle that I think applies universally," he said.

A report released Monday by Amnesty International says 38 African countries criminalize homosexuality. In four of those — Mauritania, northern Nigeria, southern Somalia and Sudan — the punishment is death. These laws appear to have broad public support. A June 4 Pew Research Center survey found at least nine of 10 respondents in Senegal, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and Nigeria believe homosexuality should not be accepted by society.

We are in a Muslim country, so we certainly cannot have it here," he said. "And for me it's not OK to have this anywhere in the world."
Sall sought to reassure Obama that gays are not persecuted in Senegal. But under Senegalese law, "an improper or unnatural act with a person of the same sex" can be punished by up to five years in prison.

But such people-powered democratic transitions are not always the story of the African experience. Fighting and human rights abuses limited Obama's options for stops in his first major tour of sub-Saharan Africa since he took office more than four years ago. Obama is avoiding his father's homeland, Kenya, whose president has been charged with war crimes, and Nigeria, the country with the continent's most dominant economy. Nigeria is enveloped in an Islamist insurgency and military crackdown.

Obama's itinerary in Senegal was designed to send a message, purposefully delivered in a French-speaking, Muslim-majority nation, to other Africans in countries that have not made the strides toward democracy that Senegal has.....snip~

Obama clashes with African host over gay rights

Obama was feeling cocky about the SCOTUS ruling and then tried to pass off those thoughts to some African Nations. Looks like those in the Muslims world of the African Nations are saying Gay Rights are Unacceptable anywhere in the world. 39 of their Countries Criminalize those over such a lifestyle. 4 countries put people to death if caught with the same sex, and what they also consider an Unnatural act.

Obama is avoiding Kenya, notice how after he approved the drones for Kenya how fast their President was charged with War Crimes.

good for Obama ... thanks for the post ...

no, it's not the only one ... he called the last election a victory as well ... Did you forget? It wasn't that long ago ...

Good afternoon, MMC . :2wave:

Obama said, "People should be treated equally, and that's a principle that I think applies universally."

BHO must not understand that people in Africa, as well as the rest of the world, read newspapers and follow the news about what happens in the USA. For him to make that statement now, when all the various scandals have erupted about unequal treatment of numerous groups in various venues, and remembering that he referred to Repubs as "enemies," seems ludicrous.

And why would he even bring up a topic like homosexuality in Senegal? Sheesh!!

Does seem odd though that Obama would focus on gays instead of women in this situation.

He didn't even bring it up. He was asked a question on it and answered the question. Now we have people saying it's odd that he talked about something that he was asked about. Can't catch a break i guess.

Right you just assumed you thought the Article was about some interpretation of mine.

I didn't assume anything about the article. I just pointed out that you're interpretation of what happened is way off base. I'm sorry if you can't handle that or something.

good for Obama ... thanks for the post ...

Heya WD. :2wave: NP.....I may not like Obama. But when Someone is telling him this is not acceptable in our Country. That personally for them it is not acceptable anywheres in the World. While Obama is truthfully not expounding on much else nor why we are in Africa and doing what we are doing. Then it should be noticed.

Course those here in the US that are pushing for all to accept all issues concerning LGBT.....tend to not notice that what the push back is in the rest of the world. As well as by a Religion of No Tolerance. Nor what it will mean once those two worlds clash.

IF that is so I stand corrected. Do you have a source that puts this in that context? I was under the impression Obama brought it up. Hurry up though, lunch hours coming to an end.

Well then I guess you showed your lack of comprehension. That's All I can say. So I guess you will have to get over it that your thought concept wasn't even close to what I was thinking nor my interpretation. Course I already knew it couldn't which was before the deflection.

Heya SL. :2wave: Seems the Reporter asked the same of Sall too. Which was after Obama question.

Perhaps acknowledging the culture of Senegal, where 96 percent of the population practice Islam, Obama maintained he respects the customs and traditions in different countries.

“The issue of gays and lesbians, and how they’re treated, has come up and has been controversial in many parts of Africa,” Obama said. “So I want the African people just to hear what I believe, and that is that every country, every group of people, every religion have different customs, different traditions. And when it comes to people’s personal views and their religious faith, et cetera, I think we have to respect the diversity of views that are there.”

In his response to the question, Sall struck a different tone, saying his country won’t decriminalize homosexuality as he maintained his country is very tolerant and doesn’t believe in discrimination.

“We don’t tell anybody that he will not be recruited because he is gay or he will not access a job because his sexual orientation is different,” Sall said. “But we are still not ready to decriminalize homosexuality. I’ve already said it in the past, in our Cabinet meeting it is Senegal’s option, at least for the time being, while we have respect for the rights of homosexuals — but for the time being, we are still not ready to change the law.”

And, President Sall, may I ask you, sir — thank you, first of all, for your hospitality. You just said you embrace democracy and freedom. As this country’s new President, sir, will you work to decriminalize homosexuality in this country?.....snip~

Looks like Sall Gave them his Answer. Their not ready. Not in his Country. Not for him, anywhere in the world.
