I knew he was part jewish, you mean he's a white guy?? Well then I'm wrong, the white mayor has been holding back the black children in school. And to think he was one of Obama's right-hand men. A personal friend of the Prez, who must feel really let down. But still if it weren't for the other whites not paying enough taxes, like at least 80% or their income...these black children would be way smarter. Everyone knows that money makes people smarter. Right? And don't tell me it isn't racism, cause that's the only thing it could be. The lack of more money is racism. Tell me I'm wrong.

I've tossed around the idea of doing away with city governments and opting for the local government to be county/parish. That way you can't just have a mass exodus to juuuuuuust outside the city limit and have the county do fine while the city implodes. County borders are pretty much 100% coverage within a state and their local governments would therefore encompass 100% of that state. Not split portions. Then you'd not have duplicate resources like:

  • separate school systems
  • duplicate government officials
  • separate law enforcement (and jurisdictions)
  • separate fire protection (and jurisdictions)

I'm sure there are loads of other resources that can be added that I'm not mentioning off the top of my head. Cities become county districts... you can still call them cities I suppose but the tax base is the entire county.

Just something I'm pondering.

It's not a question of a lack of resources, or funding, or racism. Or "White Flight", so your plan would accomplish nothing really.

It's simply an issue of the culture.

Even though clownboy just showed you the how and why of the discrepancies in funding? I suppose the next step for you is to say everyone that doesn't agree with you are the racists.

Why shouldn't you be allowed to move out of a jurisdiction if you think opportunities for you and your family are better elsewhere?

I lived in Chicago for years. It's a beautiful city. When I have kids, I'll probably want to move to the suburbs where the schools are better. What's wrong with that?

Well, in Chicago, the suburbs are still in Cook County. In Dallas, where I currently live, the suburbs are still in Dallas County.

Maybe it's different in Canada, eh?

I wouldn't want to have to move FURTHER from the city, although I would if it came down to it. Would just burn more hydrocarbons getting to work though.

So hasn't everything except number one in this post been proven completely wrong. It is NOT mostly rich, white people. It may be rich liberals but not rich white people. If it is not rich white people and it is in fact mostly black people wouldn't the harmful policies enacted in fact not be racism but maybe the liberalism? Why are mostly blacks instituting "harmful policies" for "black neighborhoods"? Is it still racism that they are? Would you agree that using racism here just makes you look like the typical race baiter?

I want the benefit of going to work and the benefit of going shopping, spending money in the city. Of course, if the politicians force me and all the other upper-middle class whites further from the city because they see us as a meal ticket, what's gonna happen to that city when all the "moochers" quit driving in?

true, when I was a law/graduate student, one of my sports friends was a post-doctoral student from Ghana. He has earned top honors at some British University and continued that success at the top American university in his field. He said the same thing. He noted that African students tended to make better grades than white kids (true) and far far better than black american students. He noted he wasn't held down by a "culture of failure" but he noted that other than his accent, he looked like a typical black american. So he was just as likely to suffer" racism" in an environment if it was present

Skin color doesn't make one race any better than another. It has to do with taking responsibility for yourself. As long as a person feels that they are inferior and need a hand out to be equal with another person, their downward spiral will continue.
