U.S. considers taking in Syrian refugees [W:33]

Re: U.S. considers taking in Syrian refugees

If the US intends to play a game of caring for humanitarian reasons then taking in refugees is a part of that game. It can be kept to a minimum or even not come to fruition but the appearance is important at least.

Perhaps of greater importance is the fact that refugees are going to be those who align themselves away from Assad's popular regime and those could be aligned to terrorists of any persuasion and from any country that is interfering in Syria.

Re: U.S. considers taking in Syrian refugees

You stated earlier that you think the US should be sending their money overseas instead of spending it here. Being part of the 47%, how do you justify sending other peoples' taxpayer money overseas?

Because spending money of fatass scooter-riders is an insult to all that is good and right.

Indeed, I do not disagree with that.

How about spending the money on infrastructure and medical research? How about education and programs for the disabled veterans?

I see the 'bang for the buck' in providing the basics for those we've exploited into abject poverty (the developing world). Americans are fine, they should stop crying.

Re: U.S. considers taking in Syrian refugees

Anybody remember when Dick Cheney gave arms to Saddam Hussein in the 1980's?

And a buncha Iraqis and Iranians were killed; good investment all-n-all.

No, because it never happened.

From 1979 to 1989, he was a congressman. He didn't sell Iraq anything during the Iran-Iraq war. In 1989, he became Secretary of Defense.

And a buncha Iraqis and Iranians were killed; good investment all-n-all.

How was Cheney the one that gave Saddam arms.

You guys are not very good at revising history. You should quite before people think less of you.

Technically, he wasn't, but the Libbos have been having a grand time flaunting a photo of Donald Rumsfeld shaking Saddam's hand and making a brew-ha-ha out of it.

According to this, it wasn't so much Cheney as it was Rumsfeld:

Newly released documents show that U.S. officials, including Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, played a leading role in building up Iraq's military in the 1980s when Iraq was using chemical weapons, a newspaper reports.

It was Rumsfeld, now defense secretary and then a special presidential envoy, whose December 1983 meeting with Saddam Hussein led to the normalization of ties between Washington and Baghdad, according to the Washington Post.

The cozy relationship was an effort to build a regional bulwark against America's enemies in Iran.

Re: U.S. considers taking in Syrian refugees

LOL...

You guys crack me up. "Special Envoy..."

How does "led to normal ties" become "gave them weapons?"

When CBS does things like "Rathergate," should we consider there is no bias when that article only names Rumsfeld, and not the others?

OH GOOD! WE need more third world citizens to vote for DEMOCRATS!!

First and second generation immigrants from the developing world are almost always social conservatives and vote such. Surely that would be the case with Syrians. They're also likely to distrust government control of the economy.

But it might also mean bringing in "Alquaida" into the country....

They have been helping the Syrian rebels...

It's not like AlN is quiet about who they are. It'd be pretty easy to discern non-AlN people. Anyway, we have terrorists here already, a couple more is hardly significant.

I say we send 'em to Jersey.
