US will supply military weapons to the Syrian rebels.

The Middle East and North Africa have always been very tribal. It was Great Britain and France who established the boundaries in the Middle East and along with Spain in North Africa. So when these countries that were actually formed by Europeans gained their independence it always took a strong dictatorial type ruler to run these countries and keep things calm and peaceful.

Look at Libya today, it's beyond being a basket case, it's more than the wild wild west. It seems to be breaking down to three seperat countries. I was wondering where were the Berbers when Obama was creating a Hell hole ?

There was a period of time before US involvement on a large scale that the ME was relatively peaceful. That was due to an opposing super power that had equal interests in the ME's oil resources. But since the fall of the S.U. the whole game has changed.

On the brighter side, the game could be on the verge of changing again with the US coming to a realization that supporting the Zionist agenda is causing most of the problems for the US itself.

Lets blame it on the French. The Madagascar Program was probably the way to go.

It's funny, I PM one of the mods awhile back on why I can't participate on any of the threads that are on the Middle East forum because I would eventualy would violate the ME forum rules. Just that one sentance above would technically be a violation of the ME forum rules.

I have no idea of what you are talking about when you mention this forum's rules. And it's not my place to get involved with that unless if happens to infringe on what I consider my rights in keeping with acceptable behaviour. You could p.m. me if you think it's an issue I need to know about.

Syria no-fly zone not on NATO’s agenda - US envoy

The US is not insisting on NATO to back a Syria no-fly zone and the issue is not currently on the alliance's agenda, said the outgoing US ambassador to NATO Ivo Daalder. "We are not pushing for a no-fly zone at NATO," he said. He added that whether it will be on the agenda tomorrow or some other day, he doesn’t know. “It isn't, as far as I know, on the table of any NATO member, including, so far the United States." According to him, the impact of foreign intervention in the conflict is unpredictable. NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has repeatedly said that the alliance "does not see its role in the Syrian settlement." Concerning the "Patriot" missile complexes of the alliance on the Turkey-Syria border , they "performed and continue to perform” a defensive role, said Secretary General.

Is this despite Obama or is this in line with Obama's wishes? I like to believe the latter but in any case it has to be good news for the majority of Americans! Right Americans? Right libertarians?

you have to ask?

I dont know, I dont agree, I think the story it’s false to misdirect from the thousands of American troops stationed nearby, and the news of planes being stationed in Jordan.

Hundreds of millions has been spent setting up all these training bases, troops on aircraft carriers, etc.

Good points! Illustrating that there 'is' a need to ask and that I was right to ignore that sort of attempt at continually spamming everything I say, including stepping over the line already. Of one thing I am quite certain, Obama is relatively powerless to stop the momentum. Why, how uppity would that be? But keep in mind that America needs to keep a strong established presence in the ME and that doesn't necessarily mean a leadup to war with Iran. In fact, every indication tells us that Obama is trying to find another solution which is acceptable to the American people.

The clear and present danger is being exposed. That's the reason for Netanyahu's immediate negative reaction to world sentiment on Iran's new leader and the hope for a solution.

Heya Kane. :2wave: I think it might have to do with Putin and Russia saying today they wont support a NO Fly Zone. Meaning there wont be one.

Hahaha! But they probably won't and that's just wishful thinking that Hama would get some and then put them to good use.

Good use against the enemy I mean. You know, Al Quaida? This can only get better. And it could get a lot more interesting if Russia follows through on the S-300's to Assad! Now there's a balance destroyer all by itself!

Maybe Obama knows something that the KKK doesn't know!

I don't agree. That article quoted by Michael66 is planted, IMO.

The 1st most noticable tactic that the U.S. uses is stalling. Like the peace talks have been used to stall each time that Obamas terrorists get their asses kicked. Their NEVER genuine, just a tool so the killers in Syria can regroup.

When the State Dept. and Israel are quoted "Assad is a dead man walking" last year, and NO ONE EXCEPT TWO PLACES REPORT IT ...

The 2nd most noticable tactic the media used in Syria is obfuscation and censorship, even by the Liberal/Progressive media who are usually vigilant. That itself is telling in that SOMEONE HIGH UP WANTS THIS COMING ATTACK SUPPRESSED.

Heya Michael. :2wave: The Russians have sent in some S-300s and they are sending more. They also have sent other systems to protect the S-300.

Russia says missile systems for Syria will deter intervention.....

r

Russia will not scrap plans to deliver an air defense system to Syria despite Western opposition because it would help deter "hotheads" intent on intervention in the two-year-old conflict, the deputy foreign minister said on Tuesday.

It also accused the European Union of "throwing fuel on the fire" by letting its own arms embargo on Syria expire.

Israel and France had urged Moscow to refrain from sending high-precision S-300 missile systems to President Bashar al-Assad's government, which is battling a Western and Gulf Arab-backed insurgency.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov suggested they were useful

"I can't confirm or deny that these deliveries have taken place, I can only say that we will not disavow them," Ryabkov said. "We see that this issue worries many of our partners but we have no basis to review our position in this sphere."

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said on Tuesday that S-300s had not left Russia yet, seeming to contradict Israel's air force chief, who said last week the shipment of the missiles was on its way to Syria.

"The European Union is essentially throwing fuel on the fire of the conflict," he repeated at his news conference.....snip~

Ever the question in the ME...who exactly are we suporting again?

Silly question!

We're supporting liberty, freedom, justice, equality, and all that other ****ing bull**** we use to falsely justify wars and enriching the arms industry.

Well we know they have updated on the Russian Systems.....This was prior to the S-300.

Russia Sends More Advanced Missiles to Aid Assad in Syria.....

Russia has sent advanced antiship cruise missiles to Syria, a move that illustrates the depth of its support for the Syrian government led by President Bashar al-Assad, American officials said Thursday.

Russia has previously provided a version of the missiles, called Yakhonts, to Syria. But those delivered recently are outfitted with an advanced radar that makes them more effective, according to American officials who are familiar with classified intelligence reports and would only discuss the shipment on the basis of anonymity.

Unlike Scud and other longer-range surface-to-surface missiles that the Assad government has used against opposition forces, the Yakhont antiship missile system provides the Syrian military a formidable weapon to counter any effort by international forces to reinforce Syrian opposition fighters by imposing a naval embargo, establishing a no-fly zone or carrying out limited airstrikes.

It enables the regime to deter foreign forces looking to supply the opposition from the sea, or from undertaking a more active role if a no-fly zone or shipping embargo were to be declared at some point,” said Nick Brown, editor in chief of IHS Jane’s International Defense Review. “It’s a real ship killer.”

Syria ordered the coastal defense version of the Yakhont system from Russia in 2007 and received the first batteries in early 2011, according to Jane’s. The initial order covered 72 missiles, 36 launcher vehicles, and support equipment, and the systems have been displayed in the country.

The batteries are mobile, which makes them more difficult to attack. Each consists of missiles, a three-missile launcher and a command-and-control vehicle.

The missiles are about 22 feet long, carry either a high-explosive or armor-piercing warhead, and have a range of about 180 miles, according to Jane’s.

They can be steered to a target’s general location by longer-range radars, but each missile has its own radar to help evade a ship’s defenses and home in as it approaches its target.

Russia has longstanding interests in Syria, including a naval base at the Mediterranean port of Tartus.

As the Syria crisis has escalated, Russia has gradually augmented its naval presence in the region. In January, more than two dozen Russian warships sailed to the Black and Mediterranean Seas to take part in what the Defense Ministry said was to be the country’s largest naval exercise in decades, testing the ships’ ability to deploy outside Russian waters.

A month later, after the Black Sea exercises ended, the Russian Defense Ministry news agency said that four large landing vessels were on their way to operations off the coast of Syria.

“Based on the results of the navy exercises in the Black and Mediterranean seas,” the ministry said at the time, “the ministry leadership has taken a decision to continue combat duty by Russian warships in the Mediterranean.” .....snip~

We both know who benefits from all this pal, but Americans still don't seem to understand the cost of it all in negative benefits. But we are miles ahead of where we were in 08 when Bush2 went away. Good links too! Maybe they will be embarrassed into facing the facts before the facts become a glass parking lot.

Where is the outspoken Michael Moore during all this Syrian and Libyan conflagration?

Liberal icons Ed Schultz, Norman Goldman, Amy Goodman, Mike Malloy are feigning ignorance about and censoring the most obvious of facts regarding the Obama Administration which is similar to their stance on Libya and that is:

“The overthrow of Syria’s government is a premeditated US plot which was instituted long before the outset of the Arab Spring.”

Syria, the United States and The El Salvador Option

The “Progressive” radio hosts are content to lecture about Iraq, Afghanistan, (in short, the Bush wars) while offering a steady lip service regarding drones. This amounts to a Voice of America similarity in that Democracy Now, Thom Hartman, Pacifica Radio, Mike Malloy (etc.) are censorship, propaganda and lies commissioned by the State. These hosts and channels are just bastions of the Democrat Party only, and function as organs of the U.S. Federal Government. They may very well be Cointelpro/ Mockingbird, such is the deviousness, conscious manipulation and calculated control, media hosts foist on the American public. Hartman, Malloy, etc. are Limited Hangouts to attack the GOP, no truth telling, Malloy was still talking about Falluja last week, no Syria and horrendous Hillary/Susan Rice war crimes there for illegal regime change. “Progressive” hosts are acting more like Big Brother and the NeoCons for all there thought control and censorship. Sins of Omission. Way to outfox Fox.

Its funny how much flack that Liberal hosts have been getting on talk radio these days since the Left are the only ones vaguely telling the truth anymore. One caller to Mike Malloy said, “I’d never thought I’d see the day that the Mike Malloy Show would censor the recent attacks on Gaza.” So the people are aware of all the thought control, intentional dumbing down, blatant censorship of major international events, going on in their day to day lives. Another caller said,”So we have to agree with Mike Malloy now if we want to get on the air?” So its repeat the Party Line or else get thrown off the air, or the blogging thread, or banned from the Democrat or Republican website. I mean what spineless Liberals all these people turned out to be.

Posted was this line and the listener had linked it, at the Mike Malloy Show blog, where it was deleted by the shows end that day.

“Just one in 50 victims of America’s deadly drone strikes in Pakistan are terrorists – while the rest are innocent civilians, a new report claimed today.”

Similar censorship was exercised by “Progressive” radio (read: Democrat Party, Federal Government Cointelpro Operations) to hide Obamas hand in the destruction of Occupy Wall Street, before the last election. The radio hosts intended the censorship and damage control to re-elect their NeoCon Styled Tyrant.

Oh remember those pesky college students protesting about their tuition, what villians! And yet it was okay for the cops to harrass and arrest them, just like OWS when Homeland Security was busy illegally imprisoning them for exercising their first amendment rights. I didn’t hear the AP/Fox News crying foul then.

“ … according to one Justice official, each of those actions was coordinated with help from Homeland Security, the FBI and other federal police agencies.”

And

“In particular, the FBI reportedly advised on press relations, with one presentation suggesting that any moves to evict protesters be coordinated for a time when the press was the least likely to be present.”

To be sure, the media are closing ranks with the State against we the people.

From reports of Yahoo email service blocking OWS messages, to increased privacy invasions and survelliance using Facebook which markets “progressive” radio, news sites, blogs (huffington, and other website logins, Twitter also) Big Brother is everywhere, multiplying exponentially.

“TheFaceBook is the devil in sheep’s clothing. It is leading the vanguard of the “consumer friendly” Big Brother targeting young people, specifically college and high school students. While pretending to be a harmless and fun service, TheFaceBook is a dark foray into psychological profiling, where the cryptocracy wants to know every detail of your life and track your location at every moment.”

The Facebook.com: Big Brother with a smile

It becomes increasingly clear that the agents of political repression are multiform in the age of digital democracy, (whether TV, radio, or the blogoshere) and many of our outlets appear to be nothing more than window dressing for the State Security apparatus.

They most likely have been invented.

U.S. 'planned to launch chemical weapon attack on Syria and blame it on Assad' | Mail Online

"Leaked emails have allegedly proved that the White House gave the green light to a chemical weapons attack in Syria that could be blamed on Assad's regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country."

"It reads: 'Phil... We’ve got a new offer. It’s about Syria again. Qataris propose an attractive deal and swear that the idea is approved by Washington.
'We’ll have to deliver a CW to Homs, a Soviet origin g-shell from Libya similar to those that Assad should have.
'They want us to deploy our Ukrainian personnel that should speak Russian and make a video record.
'Frankly, I don’t think it’s a good idea but the sums proposed are enormous. Your opinion?
'Kind regards, David.'"

Hamas is thrilled that their allies in Syria will be receiving American weapons.

LOL. The arms are being shipped to people that are fighting against Hamas! Please try to keep up.
