Mexican-American boy's national anthem sparks racist comments

What these hambones can't fathom is how could they possibly be US Citizens if they aren't white. That's the bottom line.

That's moronic. No one has even suggested that. Being invaded by millions of foreign criminals while Democrats reward them and even bring them to Capitol Hill to testify at hearings will make people wonder if having an apparent foreigner sing the national anthem is just one more attempt to spit in the face of the American people and the rule of law. Liberals are hysterically over-reacting here.

No one's trying to stop him from singing in peace. People are just naturally going to question whether or not he's another illegal immigrant like the ones being paraded around in Congress to testify with immunity. Total insanity.

No one's trying to stop you from stating your opinions here in peace. People are just naturally going to question whether or not you are being a jerk,and/or being a racist based on what you have written on this thread so far. Total insanity.

The argument isn't that he's a criminal. I don't even care about that part. It's about people understandably jumping to conclusions when their country is being invaded by criminals by the millions, and all anyone can do about it is crucify anyone who objects and paint the criminals as innocent victims. I don't consider this story to be an Earth-shattering event. But I'm also not hyper-ventilating to find racism lurking in every corner of the world like liberals are, either.

I agree this is a problem. But, I don't see that this boy is part of these invading our country. I think it is important that our concern be focused in the right direction.

Yes, I am totally within my right to express the opinion that someone who refuses to debate doesn't belong on a debate site. That shouldn't even be controversial.

And I am totally within my right to think you are a jerk for expressing that opinion. That shouldn't even be controversial.
It just so happens that my opinion happens to correspond to reality.
You don't have the right to determine who belongs on a debate forum. That is the job of the admins, mods, and the owner.

Being a racist has lost all meaning at this point. It simply means disagreeing with Democrats on anything, ever...so who freaking cares?

An apparent foreigner? How should a 'standard' American look?

The argument isn't that he necessarily is an illegal immigrant, it's that it's a small infraction for a handful of people to jump to such a conclusion when this insanity is being shoved down our throats all day, every day.

Another thread that encourages the America haters to insult the country that supports them and insult the American people. If you don't feel loved here, go back to your own country and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Nobody invited you.

Now that is a twisted logic loop. It is the 'real' Americans having a cow because someone who doesn't look like they came from Northern Europe is singing a USofA national song but OH NOOOOO you have to twist it around to try and claim we who object to that sort of knee jerk hate are first first generation immigrants and second have less of a claim to this country we do love and some of us have served than the angry old white dude crowd.

Sorry Charlie, America is a melting pot not a bleaching vat, and given the level of bitching, whining and general sour grapes ranting the 'real' Americans do I'd say the rest of us are just fitting in... :)

went to their tweeter accounts and looked at their profile pictures those comments posted by CNN where tweets

Ummm... Daniel Gilmore is the only black person on there. There are quite a few Andre Lacey's. Lewie Groh and Matt Cyrus are both white. So I am still wondering how you came up with 3 of the 4 tweets were by blacks?
Matt Cyrus.

PS black or white is irrelevant. Racism is racism. Nice try to deflect though.

You would be correct if you substituted "racist hambones" for "people" in your post. Otherwise you are plain and simply wrong.

Mexican-American boy's national anthem sparks racist comments - CNN.com <-- clicky

Here's video:

It's embarrassing to be an American sometimes.....

Kid did a great job honoring his country and our flag. The post announced the kid as a "San Antonio Native" which makes him a Citizen of the United States. Regardless of what he was wearing or looked like, he sang with heart and conviction, and it's great to see young Americans pay tribute to our flag.

Those that questioned his heritage because of his clothes or looks must lead a pretty dismal life. Instead of tearing the kid down lets embrace the fact that he loved his country enough to sing our National Anthem in front of a lot of people. I am certain I wouldn't be able to do that, at least not as well as he did.

Nothing racist about wondering if a Mexican-looking kid was chosen to sing our national anthem while millions of illegal immigrants are in the process of being rewarded for breaking into our country, marching down our streets with their flags, demanding that we speak their language, educate their children and cut them welfare checks...all while smearing anyone who objects as a bigot.

Seriously, lay down this mindless, hysterical race-card. You have UTTERLY overplayed and discredited it at this point and it carries ZERO weight.

It is racist to assume that because he's latino, he's illegal. If the kid was born in Texas, he's American.

The people who insult this great country are the idiots that don't understand that America is and has always been a multicultural melting pot. They are the idiots who "claim" to love America but have little to no understanding of the values of our American culture. They are the fools that assume people who don't look like them cannot possibly be "American".

Perhaps the insanity was already in certain throats beforehand? Que vaya con Dios, m''migo... :2wave:

Then maybe we should turn it into a thread saying that since the kid was born in Texas, he's an American. Instead of assuming that he must be an illegal and hate America because of his race.

Not about looking a certain way. A Mexican kid who may or may not be an American citizen singing this country's national anthem in the middle of an invasion of Mexican criminals caused a handful of blacks [according to trfjr] (i.e. Democrat voters) to jump to the conclusion that he was an illegal immigrant. Not the end of the freaking world, and not cause for liberals to hyper-ventilate about rednecks who apparently had nothing to do with this.

The problem is that kid is not Mexican. But it's not about looking a certain way, right?

It's not about the boy. It's about this invasion of criminals breaking into our country, bankrupting our system and being protected by Democrats as Rome burns.

If your argument is about crinimal invaders, why are you making it about the singer?

Kid is an American citizen. He is a damn good singer, worthy of a gig singing at this venue. End of story.

I'm surprised that someone has not commented about his costume.

According to CNN, he is a "Mexican-American," which, depending on your level of education on the Constitution, either tells you he is a Mexican who just happens to be here, or an ACTUAL legitimate citizen. Stop witch-hunting for racists, Chris Matthews.

I'm not. I didn't post this article. I just read everyone acting all aghast that a handful of blacks (i.e., Democrat voters) jumped to a conclusion. I'm just explaining that these guys aren't the freaking anti-Christ. We're under attack. People are going to be a little sensitive and over-react. And again, I'm not actually sure that he is an American citizen, at least according to the author of the 14th Amendment.

You are the one who called him a Mexican with no mention of American. I was just pointing out he is not simply a Mexican, which would be a native of Mexico, of which he is not.

I think he looks adorable.

So do I, but there are people that believe the costume is too PC and would prefer he sang in a more traditionl American costume, say the French Tutu.

That still depends on whether or not he's "subject to the jurisdiction" of the U.S.

While I certainly don't agree with aquapub trying to justify assumptions being made about someone because of his/her appearance, I just have to say that NO, you cannot always state your opinions in peace. A lot of times people are attacked for stating their opinions on this forum.
