Grandma, 72, shoots at home intruder in California, defends actions

If this incident were have had happened across the "Orange Curtain" in Los Angeles County, grandma would have had the handcuffs slapped on her and would have at least spent the night in jail and the liberal D.A. would have at the minimum filed charges of discharging a firearm with in the city limits.

That's why I live in the last bastion of conservatives in California, Orange County where your allowed to exercise your Constitutional rights and are allowed to protective yourself, family and property and aren't forced to depend on government and a cell phone.

I lived in L.A. County for decades... I also lived in Orange County for decades... and this post is blatantly untrue. State legislators make gun laws, not county councils. The gun laws are the same in L.A. County as they are in Orange County. If someone is breaking into one's home in California... anywhere in California... the homeowner has the right to presume imminent danger and lethal force is allowed.

Why didn't she just use Krav Maga on the guy?

;)

Don't you know that your mother doesn't need a semi-automatic assault pistol!!!! Use a shotgun....give two blasts in the air like Biden says. Come to you senses man!

;)
Yeah. Old Two-Shoot Joe's a real egg spurt. It's a real shame she didn't hit the SOB.

I'm glad she had the weapon.
Too bad she missed.

I'm a little surprised that she had a gun in Anaheim.

Exactly. The guy who did it has a long rap sheet. Home invasion is a death warrant in my opinion. The piece of **** will serve time, become a harder criminal, get released and commit more crime. Nice system we have here in the U.S.

LOL.

I haven't punted DD. I've grown bored of you. Unlike you, I don't get personal validation by thinking I've won a debate on a website where everyone is anonymous.

You're into legalizing drugs, and you've derailed the point to make your desire known.

I don't think your argument will bring much comfort to those who mourn the death of their loved ones who were killed at the hands of the violent criminals freed through early release programs pushed by ProgLibs in Sacremento.

Another leap to conclusions. I'm not for legalizing drugs. Your faulty logic and reasoning fails you again. I'm still waiting for your solution....unless the only one you have is spending more tax payer money while crying about out of control government spending at the same time. I not only provided you with solutions but showed you that those solutions are working to reduce overcrowding in the prisons which means that those violent criminals you talk about will have bed space and won't be released. But like a typical conservative....you have all kinds of cries and complaints, but no solutions.

Good for Granny, and thanks for posting the story Maggie. :)

Self defense can be achieved without a high powered assault rifle! If a 72 year old woman can defend herself with a revolver than anybody can.

If she'd had an AR-15 she probably wouldn't have missed. Too bad she did miss, it would be one less criminal society would have to worry about later.

And not just any big-assed dog...a freaking Rottweiler!

People make a big deal out of pit bulls, but most of them are pretty friendly. If a burglar breaks in, they're just as likely to show the intruder where the good stuff is.

Rotties, on the other hand, are known for being protective and territorial.

A pit bull would be great if the intruder were another dog.

Nobody is taking away your guns, you don't have to get so obsessively defensive about them that you post every positive outcome in the universe that involved a gun.

Does it not stand to reason that liberals wanted her and her husband to die?

I mean, I feel like I'm constantly reading liberals accusing conservatives of wanting children to die because they support the Second Amendment. Shouldn't the opposite be true?

I guess it's possible for you to "feel" this way even if it's not true. You mind pointing out a handful of liberals on these forums that have said what you are accusing them of, since it happens so constantly?

LOL....so your answer is the typical so called "Conservative" solution....propose spending millions more tax payer dollars building more prisons and employing more prison guards.

Gotta love that Conservative logic.....

I believe we should arm all law-abiding citizens, and build more cemeteries for the criminals.

As if she had to defend her actions:

Sans her gun, we'd be reading a very different story about Gram and her 85-year-old husband.

If we're going to report horror stories, we need to report when the good guys win. Thoughts?

My thought?

Nothing in the last round of proposed gun regulations that were voted down by the senate would have even came close to preventing this woman from defending her home. So, good for her, glad she's ok, but in terms of debating gun control, it has little bearing on anything in my opinion.

Interestingly enough (but sensible, if one thinks it through), a soldier once told me that a big dog is less a deterrent to a burglar (or a soldier) than a small one. If someone is entering your home after hearing that Rottie barking, he's prepared to deal with him (knife) if he should attack. Ankle biters?? They're effective noise makers. Ha!

I have two chihuahuas. I don't think a Ninja could sneak into my house without me knowing.

I don't doubt that for a moment!! I've always had German Shepherds. Their bark is fierce; their desire to protect their pack is strong; and they're very intelligent. They're also easier to neutralize than your lil' ankle biters. A dog trainer told me if I really wanted to protect my dog, I'd lock him in a bedroom when I wasn't home. Thought being that if someone did decide to break in my home hearing his bark, they were prepared to kill him. Your chihuahuas? They wouldn't even be able to catch 'em. Ha!

Well....that's certainly a better solution than what Ocean has been providing. You can't cry out of one side of your mouth about out of control government spending....and then find the only solution to problems is spending more taxpayer money.
