WASHINGTON – The U.S. State Department’s ability to investigate wrongdoing by its staff is under question after a report that the agency tried to cover up several crimes committed has surfaced.

Some of the allegations are against then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s security detail who allegedly hired prostitutes, a U.S. ambassador accused of trolling public parks for paid sex and a security official in Beirut committing sexual assaults on foreign nationals.

An internal memo from the State Department’s inspector general listed eight examples of wrongdoing by agency staff or contractors.

The memo also seems to indicate that the government agency tried to use its authority to stop the investigation and instead, opting to have the official, whose name has not been released, meet with Undersecretary of State
for Management Patrick Kennedy in Washington. The official was then allowed to return to his job overseas...

According to the memo first obtained by CBS News, four members of Clinton’s security detail received one-day suspensions.

This is getting ridiculous. Thoughts?

Well, all I can say is finally this is all coming to light just how corrupt our current administration really is.

Tim-

What happened to the "transparency" promises?

What happened to the "transparency" promises?

I was taught to raise my hand and admit when I did something inappropriate or wrong. It's worked well all of my life. Washington, DC? Notsomuch.

What happened to the "transparency" promises?
The transparency claims were taken out of context. What they were actually referring to was that the American PEOPLE would become more transparent to the government. Not the other way around. Recent events have revealed that this is indeed the case...

I'm losing count.

I think that's their strategy. Overwhelm us with so much corruption and scandals that we get tired heads and fall over in mental exhaustion.

I'm not at all surprised by this. When the Secret Service prostitution scandal in Columbia was silenced so quickly last year I had a strong suspicion that there was more to the story.

My thoughts? I'm not surprised at all.

I would say that the shine is definitely coming off the apple and that this administration which was being treated like rock stars is finally being exposed.......as rock stars.

We Americans have a habit of building this facade of genius and benevolence around popular figures. Inevitably it is chipped off and exposed for what it really is.

all that has come to light in the last couple of months should have and could have came to light before the election. the media ignored it and this administration swept under the carpet till after the election. if the American public was made aware of all this the election results would have been different. we need a lemon law with politicians

You know what's so sad about it all? We have collectively reached the point that we don't much give a **** anymore. It's so standard, that it has become the norm to expect corruption, lies, and sleaze out of DC.

It's funny too, because going back through the old news stories you realize these old stories are really just an indictment of investigative journalism.

so what are we going to do? accept it as the norm, or do something about it. does the countries like Egypt, Syria, Libya, and Turkey have more balls then we do?

Speaking for myself, I will continue to go vote for whomever I believe has the character for the job, and will make the most sound decisions in his/her position.

Oh, I should also point out that truth has the same properties as steam. If you don't let it out the pressure builds and leads to explosions.

For the most part this stuff WAS discussed before the election in 2008 but it was cast aside as useless partisan babbling even by the likes of McCain. I seem to recall Sara Palin being called an idiot and the Tea Party being dismissed as nothing more than a tool of the GOP. They were racist, paranoid glory hounds just looking for their 15 min in the spotlight. Well, as I've always said, the only difference between a paranoid and a prophet is the way things turn out.

yes it was discussed by the informed, but dismissed by the lapdog media as just conspiracy theorist, tin foil hat wearing crazies. the lapdog media didn't break not one of the scandals. they refused to do their job they was to busy being the Obama 24/7 campaign infomercial. the most corrupt department in this administration is their lapdog media

Scandal after scandal. Apparently, the 2nd Obama administration is not just marred with incompetence, but also vast exposure the corruption of the government.
I have to wonder. Is Obama running a "who is the most scandalous administration" bet with Francois Hollande in France? Because Hollande had non-stop action since the start of the year, and so has Obama. I wonder who will run out of the dirty linnen to expose first?

the elected officials are not the whole problem. it is all of government its gotten to big and corrupt. a good house cleaning and down sizing is in order. Like one of my favorite congressman said during the IRS hearings Trey Gowdy. no matter how much retraining you do it wont fix the problem when you have this much corruption. the best thing to do is start over

Same thing I said from the beginning--getting caught spying on the press is a fast-track ticket to making sure every stone gets overturned in a very public way. The press doesn't care about Benghazi or the IRS--they only care that their ox has been gored now too.

Heh...

And....cue music...

all the scandals happen during Obama first term they all was hidden from the public with the help of the lapdog media so Obama could have a second term

And just think. This is what the Chicago has been like for a hundred years.
