No. I'd be saying "Hmmm... so she's transgendered and hasn't had bottom surgery yet. Got it." My issue would be with the honesty of not disclosing that. Nothing else.

I'm sorry if it's offensive to some people, but I would feel the same if I thought I was with a man and it turned out that it was a woman dressed like a man. I think it's much more difficult to pull off when it's a woman to man though. I would feel as if I had been tricked.

I think you also need to look at context. If you are talking about the presence of an x or y chromosome, that is one context. If you are talking about how a person is born, or how they arrived at their genitalia, that is a context. If you are talking about how one acts, looks, sounds, feels, that is another context. In the vast majority of cases, the latter is the appropriate context.

My friend Ricki from when I was younger was very in your face about her appearance. I think my first words to her most times I saw her where a variation on "yes, the hormones are working great, they do look bigger than yesterday and they are still very nice. Now can you put your shirt back on?"

I was reading the posts above yours and thinking to myself, "hers." Hers.

Very interesting case--Maryland, maybe--of a firefighter who underwent the surgery and then had to sue when her department vehicle was taken from her--meaning that she lost overtime pay--and also her office. One of the folks she sued had been the best man at his wedding ten years before. (This is sooo complicated.) Thought most of the case had merit, but one of her complaints was use of the pronoun "he" when she is now a "she."

That's asking too much, I think--to expect people you've worked with for a decade to not slip up and use the wrong pronoun.

Anyway, re the SEAL, while I can't imagine what it cost him to make this decision, I think what we can all do, at least as a matter of respect, is work on the pronouns.

The PC bs does not play in my part of the world. but I will allow that someone who has undergone complete surgical reassignment would be a she as far as I am concerned. But someone who is still has the schwing is a dude

Raising yet another interesting question. If you're no longer attracted to someone because you learn they're transgendered, is that just harmless preference or is it bigotry? I may make that a poll.

So having the dominate sexual hormone in your body be estrogen(or testosterone for FTM), secondary sexual characteristics such as breast development, female fat distribution, no body hair etc etc, doesn't matter at all?

So living a lie, and being miserable is okay? How is that good for your children?

I just don't understand how people can be so hateful towards people who are just trying to live their lives and be happy. Makes me lose faith in humanity.
