Re: Revealed: NSA collecting phone records of millions of Americans daily
Seriously? This is old ****ing news. Where was your outrage during the Bush years?
And where's your outrage now? I don't remember you being a silent observer or critic regarding survellience during the Bush years.
Seriously.... you really think that this did not start under the last guy?
Nope. But basically shrugging it off and not making any serious condemnation about it now when you routinely used these type of things as a means for attacking bush...Kind of hypocritical, no?
It's funny...you both want to point fingers and go "HYPOCRITES"...yet at the same breath, if Bush was still in office and this came out I HIGHLY doubt you'd be spending the entire thread barely speaking an ounce of condemnation or disdain upon the program and those doing it. But yes, yes...you two are SHINING examples of calling out Hypocrites with your actions in this thread.
As to this particular issue, would need to know more to really get a good grasp on it. WE've been marching forever onward past the Security/Liberty tipping point, and while some things have been done in terms of rebalancing the issue I wonder if some of it's not going fast enough. Still, ultimately, I'd take some unfortunate situations like this as collateral damage as things are systematically stripped away over the 10 step backs move of a full repeal.
In theory, the hope would be that someone akin to Obama's ideology along with a strong Democratic hold at a point in Congress would've resulted in some of the peel back of things more than it has. However, perhaps the GWB warning to the candidates to not speak so certainly on what they'd do with terrorism because they don't have a full understanding of it yet was a sincere one...which would explain why Obama's largely shocked me in many ways concerning his actions, if not words, in terms of this kind of stuff.
The individual instance may deserve condemnation, but I'd be ill pressed to toss it out on a significant scale with what little we seem to know about the program. What's it's purpose, how it's targetted, etc. How different is it from something like ECHELON (a wonderful program highlighting the idiocy of the notion of "I'm just going to question your sincerity because your guy did it first!" When it comes to survellience, there was always a guy before in some fashion)
