NEW YORK (AP) — Two threatening letters sent to Mayor Michael Bloomberg in New York and his gun-control group in Washington contained traces of the deadly poison ricin, police said Wednesday. The anonymous letters were opened in New York on Friday at the city's mail facility in Manhattan and in Washington on Sunday at an office used by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the nonprofit started by Bloomberg. Chief New York Police spokesman Paul Browne said preliminary testing indicted the presence of ricin in both letters but that more testing would be done.
The people who initially came into contact with the letters showed no symptoms of exposure to the poison, but three officers who later examined the New York letter experienced some minor symptoms that have since abated, police said.
Both the letters contained threats to Bloomberg and an oily pinkish-orange substance, Browne said. He would not comment on what specific threats were made or where the letters were postmarked.

More ricin is being set out it seems like, this time to Bloomberg and a gun-control group he supports. People are bananas and apparently are not in favor of the democratic process when it doesnt swing their way.

Oh the irony, the assassination didn't involve a law-abiding citizen with a registered hand gun.

Maybe that will wake the little prick up to the historical fact that tyrannical actions tend to be met with heavy resisitance.

Sending poison in a letter is the act of a mad man and a coward.

Not a freedom fighter.

I would think with all the past mail attacks that nothing would make it to an elected official. So I can't understand why someone would think a envelope with ricin would make it to its intended target.

Violent revolution has always been power of the People should the government ever stop serving their interests. Though this ricin thing is a bit much...seriously, when was the last time that worked?

People are in favor of the democratic process, its the gun grabbing mostly Liberal politicians that arent. The only way to roll back the 2nd Amendment is with another amendment which would require 2/3 of the states to agree on it. The so called anti-gun laws that have been pushed by the narrow minded few, are not valid if your a person who believes in adherence to the constitution.

As far as the Ricin scare I would of course not want to see even a smuck like Bloomturd harmed by such a despicable act........ but I have to wonder if there isnt a possiblity that this is a setup & that these despicable Liberal politicians that now run this country may have had these sent to themselves to try & smear the pro 2nd Amendment crowd and help them with public opinion in the gun control push. Why would someone send Ricin knowing it would never get to the Mayor, then tell pretty much why they sent it possibly exposing themselves. This would only make it easier to find the culprit by narrowing down the field. No....... If you think about it rationally, looking at this administrations past behavior with scandals like Fast & Furious(especially), Benghazi, ect ect ect and all the Lying that these Chicago Mobsters are doing these days I wouldnt put it past them.

Yeah, he should go out in the street and get himself shot.

I never said what the guy did was sane, nor do I condone that type of attack on politicians. However when we are in times of national distress from a political standpoint this type of behavior tends to spike, now, I'd rather a potential tyrant like Bloomberg get this type of attack than some innocent civilian when these types of things do happen. Whether that makes sense or not I don't know but while I don't condone attacking politicians I can't help but feel a little sense of justice that they got a little taste of blowback and really don't feel sorry for them.

1978 London, well, a ricin attack anyway. It was the famous "umbrella dart" to the leg. That's the last succussful ricin attack I can remember anyway.

Time to round up Hatfeld again. He didn't do it, but then he didn't do the anthrax either.

Holy smokes! Some crazy person sends riacin to NYC's mayor, putting dozens of other people in harm's way, and all some of you can say is basically it serves Bloomberg right for supporting gun control? Are y'all serious? Anyone who supports gun control should basically expect an assassination attempt, so ha ha, that will teach 'em to disagree with you?

Personally, I'm pro-gun but this attitude needs a serious adjustment. Just saying.

Perfect crime.

All of the multi-billionaire politicians that I'm familiar with always personally open the incoming mail from their constituents and fans. Seriously.

I mean, it shoulda worked.

Another criminal genius that the heros in Homeland Security can say they saved us from.

Not to mention that they all seem to have a record of batting a thousand when it comes to not getting caught.

Maybe that will wake the little prick up to the historical fact that tyrannical actions tend to be met with heavy resisitance.

Whomever did that is in for a big surprise and some heavy sh** himself . The FBI takes these things very seriously and they will find him/them. Terrorism like this will be squashed mercilessly as it must be.

Oh god more gun regulations! The tyranny! Get ****ing real. This man is not a ****ing freedom fighter. More like a wanna be ****ing murderer.

And you don't think the spike in these kinds of things are happening in a vacuum? Could it possibly be that these statist clowns are pushing people so far that those on the edge are starting to snap. See, the thing is, I'm not excusing what the guy did...........but I do understand why more of these nutcases are coming out of the woodworks.

Honestly if he'd hit his mark I'd celebrate, but again I don't condone what the guy did. Bloomberg is a little pissant wanna be tyrant.

It's not gun control with me, it's the overall attitude of Bloomberg acting like people are too stupid to have rights, **** him, the world would be better off without him.

A ricin attack won't help Bloomberg's gun control efforts.

Someone trying to shoot him with an assault weapon or unlicensed handgun would.

Honestly if he'd hit his mark I'd celebrate, but again I don't condone what the guy did. Bloomberg is a little pissant wanna be tyrant.

Wait so you would celebrate him being murdered but wouldnt condone the action? All because you believe a democratically elected mayor is a "tyrant" for having a different position on an issue than you?

Wow. And so all those people who were exposed to a potentially lethal poison, that's okay with you because you want to see Bloomberg dead?

That kind of thinking is what shocked me about this thread. People weren't talking about the crazy person who did this, they were basically saying "'Atta boy!" because Bloomberg was the target without a single thought about the others who could be and possibly were harmed. :(

Edited to add: I am NOT a Bloomberg fan. I wouldn't vote for him if he were running for dogcatcher, and his nanny-dictator policies in NYC make me furious. But I still don't want the man assassinated, and I most certainly don't want others harmed by the attempt.

I wonder how the folks here who are cheering this attempt on Bloomberg's life would react if a Leftwinger did the same thing to Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, or Michelle Bachmann.

You've basically just justified the extra DHS scrutiny of extreme right wing groups and right wing extremists whether you wanted to or not.

And you have a problem with a politician working within the confines of the law, so having him assassinated is your answer. Quite American of you. Yeah. Oh wait, I'm sorry - you don't condone the action, just the results. Nice mental gymnastics there.

(I live in NYC and hate MB but he'll be gone and life goes on - I don't go around wishing death on people or politicians I disagree with-regardless of issue)
