Boy Scouts vote to welcome gay members

Really now. You said it doesn't apply to business and so I asked you where is this exception to the rule in the amendment and you still have not offered up where it is.

The law allows the govt to prohibit discrimination by businesses

You do realize the constitution is above the civil rights bill, right? I will you again, where is the exception in the amendment in question? Well?

You're arguing by authority again.

I thought you were against that.

Nope, I'm not doing that. Are you going to answer where the exception is or not?

Sure you are. You're arguing by authority even though you object when others do it.

That is not how you use it. Are you not going to answer where the exception is or not?

:lamo I'm taking it you don't have an answer to my question. I guess I win then.

You've got nothing

The law forbids businesses from discriminating on the basis of several factors like race, gender, etc

So laugh all you like. I've got the law on my side.

As an Eagle Scout myself, I will say that I can't support this decision and because of it I will no longer be able to support the BSA. I've contacted the NESA (National Eagle Scout Association) by email and asked them to cancel my membership. I've also asked the local BSA Council to cease all contact with me.

You continue to stereotype, badly. There is no reason to believe that most gay boys would be less like straight boys and more like girls. You are venting something here, with no reason.

And, no, you aren't funny. Trying to put everyone in a particular negative connotation just because they belong to a particular group shows that you hold some negative feelings toward that group. This is a debate, not your personal standup test platform.

What is negative about what girl scouts do?

I have the Constitution on mine. I think means I win. :lamo

Plenty, at least when I was in (which granted was many years ago). There are also good things, but girl scouts are definitely not like boy scouts and many of the more adventurous girls, like myself, would much rather have been/be in an organization where we learned to rough it in the woods, like the boys do, rather than simply "camping out" in a building with mattresses and where our project was to make ribbon dancers and learn a dance to do with them.

businesses have "the right" to refuse service to anyone they wish... "no shirt, no shoes, no service" etc. however, the public also has "the right" not to spend money in those businesses.

If some dumbass is willing to alienate a sizable % of the consuming public...then they have "the right" to do so and face the consequences

Sorry but this is just your preference, not the law. Many states prohibit businesses from discriminating on several factors. There was some thread where a florist or something other in the northwest is being sued by the attorney general in that state for refusing to do business with gay couples, as one example.

No you don't. The constitution is against you

The 1st(right to association) and the 13th amendment(involuntary servitude) are both on my side.

Care to tell me how the 1st or for that matter the 13th excludes business yet?

The law prohibits businesses from discriminating on the basis of numerous factors like race, gender, etc.

This proves you are wrong

You really have no idea what they based that on, do you? Care for me to enlighten you?

I see you've got nothing

Want to know which part the SC used? I will give you hint, the amendment only pertains to the state, not private business.

You don't want to know? It's really very funny how stupidity dishonest they can be.

In your ideal world how would you ideally handle the situation ?.........................

Of course, people that question them can in fact be right.

We should not simply say the SC has the authority and therefore there is nothing to talk about. What good are the people if they go along with the will of the SC without ever even thinking of doubting them?

That's not what I'm saying. The SC IS the authority. That removes the usage of the appeal to authority logical fallacy. AND, one can certainly question the SC. These two things can live in the same universe.

I know gays and they all are effeminate. There is a gay guy in my Mt bike group and he's a good rider but so are many of the women, they are still feminine though.

I know gays and they are NOT all effeminate. There. I trumped your anecdotal evidence with some of my own.
