A far-right writer and activist killed himself in front of the altar of Paris's famed Notre Dame Cathedral on Tuesday in an apparent protest against gay marriage, after calling for "spectacular" action to protect France's identity.
Dominique Venner, 78, a former right-wing activist known in France for his political essays, posted a note on his blog, attacking a law passed by the Socialist government last week allowing same-sex marriage and adoption, which he called "vile".

I don't encourage suicide by giving anyone's suicidal 'reasons' any sort of positive merit unless it's under the guise of euthanasia and NOT political gain. . . it just encourages people to do that instead of actively addressing the problem more readily in ways that will actually CHANGE it.

In essence: the guy took himself out of the picture supposedly because there was a problem that he couldn't face - and then expects other people to DO something to fix the supposed problem - that he decided he couldn't face.

That's really the essence of true cowardice - hiding behind a fence while others do the dirty work for you.

Just like I don't support assassination for political progress.
