IRS official Lois Lerner to take the Fifth

Yup, time to appoint a special investigator. The WH narrative for this has fallen to pieces. Can't even keep up with the various versions anymore.

you can only plead the fifth to keep from incriminating yourself in a crime. so she is admitting there was a crime

This is why nobody takes conservatives seriously (and prove positive you don't understand the Constitution)

So the new tea party meme is if the 5th amendment imputes guilt to everybody who invokes that constitutional right?

BWHAHHAHHAAHAH!

This is why conservatism is going extinct faster than anyone could hope.

1. cover up

2. criminal activity

3. who else could she finger?

former commissioner shulman testified in senate finance today and perforce caught himself up

Shulman said he first learned that something was happening in the spring of 2012.

He said that at that time, he learned that IRS workers were using a list to help decide which groups seeking tax-exempt status should get special attention and knew the term "tea party" was on that list. But he said he didn't know what other words were on that list or the scope and severity of the activity.

For more than a year, from 2011 through the 2012 election, members of Congress repeatedly asked Shulman about complaints from tea party groups that they were being harassed by the IRS.

Shulman's responses, usually relayed by a deputy, did not acknowledge that agents had ever targeted tea party groups for special scrutiny. At a congressional hearing March 22, 2012, Shulman was adamant in his denials.

"There's absolutely no targeting. This is the kind of back and forth that happens to people" who apply for tax-exempt status, Shulman said at the House Ways and Means subcommittee hearing.

Shulman said [today] he didn't later tell lawmakers about the targeting because he didn't have full information about the situation.

"I had a partial set of facts," Shulman said.

Former IRS Chief: Can't Say How Targeting Happened - AP

mr commissioner, if you didn't have full information, if you only had "a partial set of facts," then why, then how, all the "adamant denials?"

this corrupt cabal relies on its stupidity when convenient, resorts to outright lies the rest of the time

steven miller lied to congress last friday, everyone knows it

why?

why not tell the truth?

mr president, do you really expect anyone to believe that your chief of staff, denis mcdonough, was made aware in april and never told you?

if that were the case, what would it say about your operations?

incompetence is a felon's defense

mr obama, exactly when were you first aware that members of the nteu were subjecting tea party and other applicants to far greater scrutiny than any other apps?

why can't you say?

do you really think the question is going to go away?

Finance panel chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., and top Republican Orrin Hatch of Utah both criticized the agency and said they would investigate how and why the improper screening occurred.

"I intend to get to the bottom of what happened," Baucus said.

the more the white house lies, the louder will grow the questions

obama's smarter friends recognize this

the coverup is killing em

but you're cool with it

a special prosecutor will be appointed, people like lois lerner and douglas shulman and barack hussein obama make it inevitable

and that barrister, whoever he or she may be, might very well indict a fourth floor, fifth amendment flunkie like lois lerner

will she turn?

worry

I jokingly said a few days ago that Holder didn't take the fifth because he and Obama can't afford for him to. Holder just doesn't know. And now we have this.

Simple enough, she doesn't want to have to name names.

Yeah, that's what the 5th Amendment means. Exactly.

God, it's hilarious to watch the tea partiers expose their hatred of our system.

It definitely doesn't "impute" innocence HOJ.

And if poor Lois was just apologizing for a few " front line " employees who were just trying to make the IRS the pinnacle of efficency, then why would she need to plead the fifth ?

Conservativism is going NO WHERE thanks to you guys electing Jon Gotti Jr and his band of Chicago thugs.

That's not how the ****ing 5th amendment works!

By recusing himself Holder may as well have taken the fifth. Now he can say he can't comment because it is all under investigation. He made a smart political move there.

Lol !!!

I know "how it works". Lois Lerner will use her Constitutional right "NOT TO INCRIMINATE HERSELF ".

Incriminate from what ? I mean in reference to a question about the IRS selectively targeting Conservative groups she will elect NOT TO INCRIMINATE HERSELF.

LOL !! What am I missing ??

I don't think he made a smart political decision at all. I don't know of anyone who thinks that guy has a ounce of credibillity.

ron fournier's elite natl journal, yesterday:

What did the president know and when did he know it?

At last Thursday's press conference, Obama chose his words about the IRS scandal very carefully. "I can assure you that I certainly did not know anything about the IG report before the IG report had been leaked through the press." Even though he was asked about the overall malfeasance, he specifically said he didn't know about the report. That parsing alone raises questions about the level of candor coming from the White House.

Is The White House Obscuring the Truth? - NationalJournal.com

why can't he say?

free thinking americans won't stop asking until he does...

and you just hate that, hate them, don't you?

show us your hate, homeys

party on, progressively

I agree he is a lying crook but he is, in effect, also taking the fifth. He can now more easily defer questions.

so let's get this straight

commissioner shulman testifies that he didn't tell congress what he knew because he only had "a partial set of facts"

so he adamantly lied

barack hussein obama can't say exactly when he knew what was going on (for 2 years), he learned what little he does know in the newspaper, and his caught out chief of staff is a whole lot smarter than he is

and lois lerner invokes her fifth amendment right against self incrimination cuz fox news is #1 and glenn beck wears funny tennis shoes

admin defenders are diminishing, delusional and distempered

see them froth at the mouth

all the good ones are gone

obama is corrupt like nixon, dumb like biden and paranoid like stalin...

have at it

His chief legal counsel as well as his chief of staff knew, yet he didn't know.

independent of tigta, an internal irs review a year ago may, 2012, found the exemption office was engaged in unfair and illegal targeting of tea and other conservative groups and informed commissioner steven miller who testified last friday that no political targeting was going on

this guy could very well end up in jail, and if you've seen him testifying on tv you can probably see that ugly awareness in his careworn face

An Internal Revenue Service review of the agency’s approach of scrutinizing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status questioned the now-controversial policy a year ago, according to House Oversight and Government Reform Committee spokesman Ali Ahmad.

In late March 2012, IRS deputy commissioner Steven Miller–who resigned his post as acting commissioner last week at President Obama’s request–directed senior technical advisor Nancy J. Marks to investigate allegations of political targeting of groups seeking tax exempt status, agency officials told congressional aides. Holly Paz, acting director of ruling and agreements, worked with Marks on the probe, and both traveled to Cincinnati to conduct interviews.

On May 3, 2012. Marks gave what IRS officials described as a “presentation” to Miller describing her findings. Marks said the investigation had found significant problems in the review process and a substantial bias against conservative groups, Ahmad said. No written findings were produced as a result, the aide said, and it does not appear the internal review led to any disciplinary actions against IRS employees.

Internal IRS probe cited same problems with approach to conservative groups in May 2012, House aide says
