Briarwood, Plaza Towers Elementary Schools Hit By Tornado In Moore, Oklahoma ...

And people like you just dont get it..... they died in the basement, where there are pipes. In a shelter there would be no such thing so they would not drown.

It amazes me that people like you refuse to spend money on basic safety for your children in tornado ally, but have no problem giving billions in handouts to big business... pathetic.

And why doesn't the governement spend every last dollar making sure every home and school in California is perfectly earthquake resistent, every home along the eastern seaboard and Gulf Coast can stand up to a Hurricane, and every inch of our entire coastline be tsunami-proof? I mean, what were they thinking in Japan with that development there for a tsunami to destroy?

We are not talking about homes, but a limited amount of schools for children. Gezz come on, if there is anything you should spend money on in a disaster prone area, that is to protect people and especially children.. It is not expensive to turn the cellar of a school into a temporary shelter and the 10 to 15 minutes warning they did get, should be more than enough to get children into those shelters.

Let me ask you.. what is 1 childs life worth? Spend 1 million dollars or 10 to make this shelter, and save 20 kids lives... is that not worth the money?

This disturbing video will make you want to run home and hug your kids. I can't even imagine.

These are all just horrible stories. MSNBC is saying at least 37 dead in Oklahoma City

Yeah it is a horrible tragedy, yet people don't say **** when 37 people are murdered here in Chicago over a weekend.

Sorry it just baffles me.

No doubt we waste money on Spain too. You can't guarantee everyone's safety. You think no one has ever thought about shelters before? And if they built those shelters for rare use, you'd complain they were building shelter to nowhere.

So loosing the argument and then you resort to attacks on areas totally outside the scope of the thread?

You can't guarantee everyone's safety.

No one is asking you to.. but improving the safety of your children in a school must come among the top priorities out there... or are you that cold hearted? It is ironic that after the shooting of all those children, the right had no problems in investing hundreds of millions in arming teachers and putting armed guards in schools..just in case a crazy guy goes not and shoots up a school again, but spending that money on protecting children from a natural disaster that happens every freaking year in the area.. no no that is tooo much.

You think no one has ever thought about shelters before?

No I dont think so... I fully expect they have, and like any good red state, dismissed the few million dollars as too much and then turned around and gave businesses a nice tax cut.

And if they built those shelters for rare use, you'd complain they were building shelter to nowhere.

See now you lost it totally... Tornadoes are NOT RARE. There is a reason that it is called tornado ally, and they are very common. Hell this area that was hit yesterday, was also hit not long ago and not far from there was the second worst tornado disaster.. There are tornado's every freaking year in the area, and spending a few million dollars to insure that parents dont have to risk their own lives to race to schools to save their children... is frankly money well spent.

Hey how about this.. revoke some of the millions given in tax breaks to business in the state for ONE YEAR, and build shelters in schools that dont have it. How hard is that? Bet you could even get the other states to pay for it, since the 2 senators of the state have no problems asking for handouts and pork for their own states, while wanting to deny it to millions after Sandy and other disasters.

Glen Beck and his organization Mercury One arrived in Moore, Okla. today with two tractor trailers full of relief supplies and 300,000 dollars worth of donations. its been less then 24 hours after the tragedy.
Can anyone tell me if there is any liberal organizations that has lifted a finger to help like that? Please i hope you can

Sure they do. Regardless, at least with Chicago murders something could be done to prevent them but the Chicago political machine has no interest in stopping it. Not a lot can be done to stop and EF-5 tornado as far as I know.

One cannot prevent another from murdering another....

You really think a gun is the only tool to kill?

Hell, I could break a plastic fork and kill you with it.... funny how there are no guns in prison yet people get whacked all the time.

Yeah that attitude might be why Chicago has a lot of murders. Might as well fire all the police and use the money on more medical examiners while you are at it.

A person will murder regardless... A gun is a just a tool.

Human emotions spur murder not guns or other tools - those are just methods - not intent.

Maybe politicians should ban emotions next?

I can't. But, I can point out an idiot liberal Senator who blames global warming and the Republicans for the damage done.

Dem. leader (already) blames tragic tornado on Republicans | Human Events

I cannot tell you, nor do I care to make political points of this tragedy. All that I care is that support and help is there - I am sure Glenn Becks organization is not the only one mobilized/mobilizing, there are likely many more, including ones that are not so eager to spout off and toot their horn about their efforts.

Shame on you for your despicable and pointless attempt at a partisan swipe.

Funny, I thought we were in a political forum. And he makes a valid point. Beck doesnt go take someone elses stuff to help OK, like the govt does with FEMA.

We are, but that does not mean every topic has to be a partisan cesspool. It is revolting to see someone trying to score some cheap political points off from something like this for no good reason whatsoever.

Red Cross, FEMA.. and so on and so on.. the GOP calls them "liberals" more than often so ..

And Glenn Beck is just buying influence and his move it totally self centered.

Mother nature is being a twat - anyone see the weather? Nothing but rain from OK City to east of me . . . entirely hampering any recovery efforts.

Really? You know that? Please provide inside information to support your claim. I guess this would be the same to you?

Report: Kevin Durant donates $1 million to tornado relief

BTW: Assume for a moment you're right...the fact remains, Beck and Durant helped. And you? Soros? Biden?

And it doesnt mean that it cant be. However, incivil posts about other members are against the rules. So stop it.

Moderator's Warning:
If you feel someone is breaking a rule, report it. Going off topic to accuse them of doing such is baiting in and of itself. Lets stick to the topic folks

The mayor of tornado-ravaged Moore, Oklahoma says he'll try to get an ordinance passed requiring storm shelters or safe rooms in new housing projects. "I have six councilmen and I need four votes to get it passed," Mayor Glenn Lewis told CNN today.
You happy now?

Beck couldn't win with you if he sold all he owned and gave it to the victims in OK. Got any sources to support the allegation that GOP calls the Red Cross "liberals"?
