Bohner who will go to jail in IRS case

It is a civil rights violation, It is discrimination. It is just as illegal to discriminate based on political affiliation as it would be for race

If that's the angle folks wish to use as justification either for legal action or termination against those who committed the act, by all means pursue the perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law. But I think we first need to find out why it was done, don't you?

I've listened to the talk shows and read the news reports (though not on a daily basis) same as most folks, and it could simply be a matter of the agency being overwhelmed. Of course, I don't buy it anymore than the next guy, but I'm willing to wait until a full investigation is had before jumping to conclusions.

Obvious Child is also an IRS defender. He thinks they should be expanded even further... so they get every penny. He has no facts that "fraud has almost certainly increased"... typical weasel words stated without any factual backup. He also thinks scraping the code is idiotic... and then tells us we are morons for not understanding the current code.

Lying isn't a good tactic here. But given your reputation, that probably doesn't matter anymore to you.

ROTFLOL... WHAT'S WRONG? DIDN'T LIKE MY USING YOUR QUOTES VERBATIM?

Here is my post again... now... try to defend what YOU stated instead of trying the slimy course of action.

Just Do It.

APDST answered all these questions last night. The fact that you want to defend what the IRS did here speaks volumes about you. You are possibly farther left than anyone on this forum.

We can create an abortion the size of Hillary Clinton and foist it on the public using backdoor tricks and without reading the law (ObamaKare), but we can't scrap the tax code and in the process reduce the size of the KGB/IRS... and make the new code so simple the public can understand it without hand holders? Not in OC's werld.

3) The IRS actually is too small and underfunded. Roughly around $500 billion annually is not reported to the IRS. Meaning, if we had a sufficiently staffed and funded IRS, we essentially could have avoided deficits for the past decades. Audits of individuals have significently declined over time yet fraud has almost certainly increased. What we are seeing is similar to what happened to the SEC. Lack of funding and lack of staff let all kinds of **** through and we pay for it in the end. The simple answer is to actually fund and staff the collection agency that is the IRS.

good luck

Why are the Republicans making such a big deal of the IRS problems now? People like Darrel Issa knew last year, so did other congress critters
Republicans Informed of IRS Investigation Last Year
Much has been made of the fact that senior Treasury Department officials were told about the investigation into the treatment of tea party groups in June 2012 — months before last year’s the Presidential election. Republicans who requested the investigation were also told about it at approximately the same time.

In a letter dated July 11, 2012, the man who conducted the investigation — IRS inspector general J. Russell George — wrote to Rep. Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, telling him that he was investigating the issue and offering to keep him updated as the investigation progressed.

“The Oversight Committee knew about the audit because it requested it,” an Issa aide told ABC News. Issa released the letter, along with his own letter dated June 28, 2012 requesting the investigation, last week.

“We would be happy to provide a status update to the Subcommittee staff and provide a copy of our interim and final reports on the matter when they are issued,” George wrote in the letter to Issa. An identical letter was also sent the Rep. Jim Jordan, who, like Issa had raised the issue with the IRS.

The letter notes that it was Issa who had written him about “questionnaires that the IRS has issued which may exceed appropriate scrutiny and a potential lack of balance in the use of criteria for reviewing organizations that are applying for tax-exempt status.” George offers no confusions but says, “our Office of Audit recently began work on this issue.”

So, WHY didn't Issa make an issue of this last year during the campaign season?

You need someone to tell you that politicians play politics?

Are you saying that Darrell Issa didn't like Mitt Romney, the candidate of his party and therefore failed to provide a bit of ammunition for said candidate to use against his political opponent, Barack Obama?

The GOP obviously has a few internal problems and Sen Cruz is exacerbating the situation when he says, "I don't trust Republicans"
