Not sure what the connection is, but this guy was fired from his EMT job two days after the West explosion. From the Fort Worth Star Telegram: A West paramedic, fired two days after a fertilizer plant explosion devastated the Central Texas town, was in federal custody on Friday, accused of possessing the components of a pipe bomb.
Investigators have not linked the arrest of Bryce A. Reed, 31, to the explosion. But on the same day that Reed was appearing in federal court in Waco, Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, directed Texas Rangers to join McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara in a criminal investigation of the blast.
