White House holds OFF-THE-RECORD briefing with reporters on Benghazi

if you needed to know what was one thing they decided to come up with what to do for going forward with Protecting our Embassies. That was to make Sure a Fest Team is Deployed on a Ship in those regions. Its called working with the other side in Bi-Partisan manner. Just an FYI. ;)
So does that solve all over our problems? It's a yes or no answer.

If yes, then why are we still talking about Benghazi, if not for political motivation? If no, why are we still not talking about additional security measures?

My point, as it's been all along, is let's quit wasting time on irrelevant nonsense and let's focus on what's important, which is the safety of Americans. Surely, though we've disagreed on other things, we can agree we should focus on keeping Americans safe, correct?

No.

Because some security measures cannot be discussed publicly.

Also for discussing News Sources about Benghazi and you wanted a to give a fair assessment. As if stories are relevant in some way or apply. I have started a thread to do so.

Feel free to give your Assessment. ;)

A fair point, some can and some cannot. But it seems to me it would be a better use of our government's time to make sure those security measures are being acted upon, whether it's done in public or not. Instead, we constantly keep getting this dog and pony show which does nothing to help anyone. It's simply a political ploy, and I'm tired of it, when there are so many more necessary things we should be focusing on.

Ah ... following the traditional coverup structure blueprint.
That "Let's just fix the problem rather than assign blame" is always the last bad brick to be tried after all the other bad bricks have failed.

Well, I would remind you of the statements by Team Obama and the left that concern investigations and what they say they have going on too. Which that is all running current. With whatever the Republicans have to say. While all is being discussed over it. So there is no surprise there is more coming out. Even the AP is reporting more whistle-blowers will be coming forward. Rogers confirmed that on Sunday with the talk Shows. Since whoever approached his committee.

Plus like I said......now we have a way to look at what News Sources can be applied to the Benghazi Story. Or if they don't. :)

Was making up a fanciful story to get through an election a political ploy?

So a cover up should be ignored? what was the purpose of the Watergate investigations and hearings then? there was need for them the ones who did the break in were caught

And there's no point trying to find out who was responsible for IRS corruption ... after all SOMEbody already apologized to SOMEbody and said it won't happen again so let's just drop it.
Yeah ... already covered ... old story.

Absolutely. What difference does it make? We need to fix what's broken and not go on some partisan witch hunt.

Allow me to answer. It's a yes and no answer. Yes, it was a regrettable decision, and the people responsible at State have already been fired. No, this does not rise to the level of WH involvement, or even to the cabinet heads of the various departments, who I should add, are all out of office now. Please refer to the tomes I've already posted here to find additional answers, depending on the question. The election is over. What happened then has no relevance to what is happening now. (How am I doing?) Hillary hit her head, and can't remember much - why, she doesn't even remember the Rose Law Firm or Whitewater. Have some pity. Please? I'm just trying to employ a little logic and common sense here. That's something that's apparently foreign to you. Oh, and you're a liar, too.

Heya HB.....no one has been fired from the State or anywhere else. 2 resigned. and Charlene Lamb was removed to wait another post which was alleged to be a Higher post. That won't be happening Now. Also since now some are bringing out the Kenyan Embassy Incident which is almost identical with this one. Especially the part about lacking security.

Also Nordstrom provided Issa with the Copy of the Communi-K that was sent Early the morning of the 12. Which was CC'd to another Dept as well. While Lamb decreased Security from the Second attack until the Anniversary Attack. That's another thing to do. Label the attack the Anniversary Attack. So that Press Picks it up and uses the term too.

Yes. Issa has pleasantly surprised me in this investigation. I was kidding about the firings. Some here maintained that Hicks was not demoted, so as long as we're redefining things to suit the argument, we might as well call the resignations firings. I mean, they're out of office, so what difference does it make?

And Dowd surely has shown herself to be a strange one from time to time. Although I can't agree with everything she said, her article is worth the read, worth thinking about. So here's the link again: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/12/opinion/sunday/dowd-when-myths-collide-in-the-capital.html?_r=1&

“It’s not true, it’s not true, it’s not true, it’s old news.”
It's bad news for the Obama administration when Dowd goes as far as she did in that piece. For her, this is a breech of faith with the elite in DC. The interesting thing is, and Dowd alludes to it, is that the failure of the military to be in a position to quickly respond was a deliberate position staked out by the administration - Hillary in particular. It seems that community organizing is not as warmly embraced in some areas of the world as it is here. That they - Defense, CIA, and State - dragged their feet at the start of the attack was a tacit admission that they weren't in a position to respond easily, and that inevitably delayed any significant response that might have been mounted until it was way too late.

Yeah, well like he said......he based it off the way he felt he was being treated after he began questioning about things. Now they will have to determine was he questioning things before he took the post he thought was a Demotion. Which there to, he said he based that off the conservations he had with people.

Which why they try to explain away Hicks.....then there is Nordstrom.

Reason: Three reasons Benghazi matters

With the lid coming off of what very clearly looks like an attempt to cover up the nature of the attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Obama administration apologists have stepped up their efforts to flood the debate with paraphrases of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s attempt to shut down discussion of the White House response — “What difference at this point does it make?” One even tried to shift blame onto the House GOP for the altered talking points. Nick Gillespie at Reason offers three basic reasons that the US needs an investigation into the attack and the administration’s deliberate attempt to shift the focus from terrorism to a YouTube video:

The final talking points eventually given to Rice reflected State’s concerns, but Carney told us that it’s all on the up-and-up because the changes were signed off on by the CIA.

There’s a meatpacking-like quality to all this. You don’t really want to know how your hamburger is processed, do you? The administration’s defense — and it’s looking thinner than ice on a late spring pond — is that government bureaucracy is messy and multi-layered and that’s a big part of why Rice said what she did.

Benghazi occurred seven weeks before election day. The administration’s strategy was simple: Downplay the terror attack, change the narrative, and run out the clock. And that’s what it did.

But now the dam has burst. Carney’s “here at the White House” comment has essentially thrown Clinton under the bus. Republicans, who leaked the edited emails to Karl and Hayes, have succeeded on two fronts: They’ve got the administration on the defensive over Benghazi, and they’ve weakened the Democrat’s most formidable 2016 candidate.

Actually, most of us are more concerned over the fact that this administration manipulated information about a terrorist attack to hide its nature during the election, to their advantage. That’s corruption on a very deep level.....snip~

I am most concerned that four Americans lost their lives and that how this happened has been explained with deliberate, stupid lies. Ty Woods died on a rooftop waiting for help that never came, and I want to know why.

That's a pretty good assessment, especially coming from Hot Air. Thanks. What I've noted is that this whole event had more players than the administration could control. Whoa! Obama is on air explaining Benghazi, and the talking points are a side show, or so he says. And it does appear that the WH is in fact willing to throw Hillary under the bus. And Obama maintains that the assessment that Rice delivered on TV was exactly the same as the one he received for days after the event in his daily briefing. Imagine that. The talking points that were delivered to Rice were also delivered to Obama! How in the world would that happen?

The even better one is Rice being caught up In Kenya doing the Same exact thing as here.....plus Petraeus told King in Closed Door testimony. He changed things to what was already acceptable. He didn't have anything to do with whoever changed Rices talking points. So Someone changed them somewhere.

Now another Whistleblower steps forward. Which I wonder if it is Lt Col Wood. I don't know why when I put up the copy of the PDF files that were sent to the Overcite Committee they wont stay up an then turn into little black boxes here. As I had Up Woods letter and what he stated about Himself thinking he had to bring this out too.

Very well done.
You must be closely attuned to know how these things always work ... actually, being merely conscious and not a low information voter might be enough.

It was an outdoor meeting and for nostalgia sake, he used his Vorvarts! placard.
It was a big hit as he rubbed the bellies of his propagandists afterwards and gave them all a Doggie Bag.

Now that it is being reported by other mainstream media outlets, invariably, the first or second line suggests that the story is really about republicans using it to attack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Ive yet to see any real reporting demeaning answers as to WHO made up the lies they told for 3 weeks and why no one was hammered for it. Who buried the request for more security. Who ordered the special forces team to stand down when the attack was occurring. I'd even accept the president didnt know...but were I him in that capacity I would be furious and there would be a whole lot of new department heads. Assuming of course he didnt know.

Anti-American protests have erupted in the Middle East over a crudely made film mocking the prophet Muhammad, resulting in violent embassy protests around the Middle East, fallout in the U.S. presidential campaign and heightened security at U.S. facilities abroad.

THE FILM: Fourteen-minute clips of the amateurish anti-Islam film 'Innocence of Muslims' have been posted on YouTube. The clips depict the prophet Muhammad as a fraud, a womanizer and a madman in an overtly mocking way, showing him having sex and calling for massacres. Muslims find it offensive to depict Muhammad in any fashion, much less in an insulting way. Google Inc., owner of YouTube, has pulled down the video in Egypt, but it is still accessible in the U.S. and other countries.

The film supposedly runs two hours. Film industry groups and permit agencies haven't been able to find records of a project called 'Innocence of Muslims,' though a Los Angeles film permit agency did find a record of a movie filmed in Los Angeles last year with the working title 'Desert Warriors.' The film apparently had a brief run at the Vine Theater, a faded Hollywood movie house. The YouTube clips are called 'Muhammad Movie Trailer' and 'The Real Life of Muhammad.'

THE FILMMAKER: Federal authorities say the shadowy figure behind the film is Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, a California man once convicted of financial crimes and prohibited from using computers or the Internet as part of his sentence. Authorities have connected Nakoula to the persona of Sam Bacile, someone who initially claimed to The Associated Press to be the writer and director of the film.

The YouTube clips were posted under the username 'sam bacile.' Nakoula told the AP in an interview Wednesday that he managed logistics for the company that made the film. He denied he was Bacile and said he didn't direct the film, though he said he knew Bacile. Bacile turned out to be a false identity, and the AP traced a cellphone number used by Bacile to a home where a reporter located Nakoula. Court papers in 2010 said Nakoula had many aliases, including Nicola Bacily, Robert Bacily and Erwin Salameh. The man identifying himself as Bacile claimed to be an Israeli Jew, but evidence shows he is a Coptic Christian. He told the AP he is a real estate developer, but his name does not appear in searches of California real estate licenses.

THE PROTESTS: The film has sparked assaults across the Middle East. In Libya on Tuesday, the storming of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi killed the American ambassador, Chris Stevens, and three other embassy staff members. Libyan officials say the attack in Benghazi was a planned operation by heavily armed militants that may have been timed to mark the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S. and that the militants used civilian protesters as cover for their action.

In Egypt, angry youths climbed the walls of the U.S Embassy on Tuesday in Cairo and brought down the flag. In Yemen, hundreds of protesters angered by the film stormed the U.S. Embassy on Thursday in the capital of Sanaa and burned the American flag, chanting 'death to America' and 'death to Israel.' In Iraq, several hundred Shiite hardliners protested Thursday in Baghdad's Shiite stronghold of Sadr City, and the leader of an Iranian-backed Shiite militia, Asaib Ahl al-Haq, threatened anti-U.S. attacks. And in Iran, about 50 protesters shouted, 'Death to America' outside the Swiss Embassy, which looks after U.S. interests there. Riot police kept the crowd at bay.

THE VICTIMS: Four Americans were killed in the attack on the Embassy in Libya. Three Americans were wounded, U.S. officials said. Stevens, a 52-year-old career diplomat, died after he became separated from other American officials during the attack. The northern California native had been dispatched to Benghazi amid heavy fighting in April 2011. Also killed was Sean Smith, 34, an Air Force veteran who had worked as an information management officer for 10 years in diplomatic posts in Brussels, Baghdad and Pretoria, South Africa. Smith was well known in the online video game community. The State Department late Thursday identified the other two Americans: Glen A. Doherty and Tyrone S. Woods, both former Navy SEALs who were providing security at the consulate.

THE FALLOUT: Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney seized on the attacks Wednesday as an issue in the campaign, accusing President Barack Obama of apologizing for American values because of a conciliatory statement from the U.S. mission in Cairo. Romney said Obama's first reaction was to sympathize with the attackers rather than to condemn the attacks. The statement read: 'The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims - as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions.' But it was issued to condemn anti-Muslim religious incitement as demonstrations against the film took place near the Cairo embassy and before demonstrators had breached the embassy walls - and even before the attack in Libya.

The GOP nominee came under fire for his comments; Obama said in an interview with CBS News' '60 Minutes' that the episode showed Romney's penchant for having 'a tendency to shoot first and aim later.' Romney toned down his criticism Thursday and tried to shift the campaign focus back to the economy. Obama, meanwhile, ordered increased security at American embassies and consulates around the world Thursday following the attack and urged its citizens abroad to be vigilant. His administration sent two warships to the Libyan coast, ready to respond to any mission ordered by the president, and 50 Marines were sent to the Libyan capital of Tripoli to help with security. Obama told voters campaigning Thursday in Colorado that the Benghazi Consulate killers will be brought to justice and that protecting Americans serving abroad is one of his highest priorities.

Sad thing is...I am really beginning to believe Obama is so inept that he knows little if anything about what happens in his administration. Nor does he care.
