In you analogy they look at every one 'looking middle eastern'. In this case they were merely looking at 'right leaning' tax exempts and not those on the entire spectrum.

I think MMA is Media Matters. They are biased, but I don' have a problem with them having tax exempt status (TES). Yes, FNC is Fox.

I'm not a big fan of Media Matters or the MRC for that matter, but I don't have a vendetta against them.

Next time you go to get a driver's license - perhaps they'll put you off for a year and a half with demands for information that has nothing to do with what you're applying for which continues month after month after month until finally you're forced to seek legal representation that a few months later finally forces the clerk at the DMV to process your paperwork like she would have done months ago but didn't because she didn't like how your name rhymed with "achoo-y."

were they looking because of their political lean or because of their propensity to file improperly
the first reason would be wrong while the second would be very appropriate

as a federal employee processing loans using tax payer monies, i was prohibited from reporting to the IRS those applicants whose financial statements data were different from that found on their federal tax returns. seemed like the wrong time to look the other way. ditto in this circumstance

It's too bad you're not even well read enough to know how my "name", which, you know, is just an internet handle, sounds like. But that's beside the point, if your "hell" is being sent a lengthy questionnaire for some 2-bit political organization you have no real emotional attachment to, you should consider getting a life, or a job, or whatever to keep you better occupied. But hey, I was denied my driver's license until I got glasses because I can't see distances. I didn't cry and bitch about it. Can't say the same for the people who went through "hell".

Charges should be made if applicable, trying to disadvantage a group based on their beliefs is a very severe form government oppression in my opinion and should not be tolerated at all. This is what I would expect from more totalitarian nations with less freedom like China, Iran, or Russia. This should absolutely not be happening in the United States where one of our chief principals is freedom of speech and the right to believe what you want without the government impeding upon that.

It's not all that hard to figure out how high up this goes. As with most things, determine who had the most to gain, then figure out who had the ability to make it happen, then drive down Pennsylvania Avenue until the vectors cross.
