Re: There was a stand down order given in Benghzi
Why This All Still Really Does Make a Difference:
Many will argue that Benghazi is “old news”, little more than a political Republican gotcha game. They will attribute further investigations and commentary to sour grapes attempts to “get back at” the president and Democrats following an election which proved that Benghazi didn’t matter to voters, or to undermine a predictable Hillary bid to replace him in 2016. They will say that it’s time to move on … quit wasting time trying to fix something that can’t be changed…drop the whole thing. They will claim that the military could have done nothing to stop it even if they had been ordered to intervene. As for all the lies and cover-ups, they’re to be dismissed as insignificant misunderstandings.
The mainstream media will agree, demonstrating through reporting avoidance and affirmation that none of this is important to them either. It never was. Not when it comes to “their team”.
But for some, it does matter, and perhaps less because mistakes were made, and more because after being shrouded in blatant public deceptions, the same mindsets underlying those misjudgments and misrepresentations continue. As with Benghazi, the Obama administration was unwilling to attribute the bombings which killed and maimed innocent Boston Marathon attendees to radical Islamic terrorists. Meanwhile, Benghazi eyewitnesses are sequestered to avoid congressional inquiries into causes and responses, while killers which the president pledged to bring to justice roam free.
The morning after the consulate attack, President Obama vowed: “Make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring justice to the killers who attack our people.” And as Charles Woods recalled when his son’s body arrived at Andrews Air Force Base, Hillary told him first of all that she was sorry…and then, that: “We will make sure the person who made that film is arrested and prosecuted.”
Unfortunately, the only one that was brought to “justice” is Mark Basseley Youssef, the designated scapegoat who created the offensive “Innocence of Muslims” video. He was arrested and jailed on an “unrelated probation violation” right after the attack.
Remarkably, Ali Ani al-Harzi, a leading suspect in the attack believed to be a brother of Tariq Abu Ammar, a mid-level al-Qaida planner in Iraq, doesn’t appear to be very worried. He has reportedly been seen in a crowded luxury hotel sipping strawberry frappes with an alleged fellow suspect and ringleader, Ahmed Abu Khattala, seemingly oblivious to any fear of capture by U.S. and Libyan governments. After all, with the Obama administration in denial about an Islamist jihad threat, and the White House and State Department now moving on to other matters, why should he care?
No, it’s the rest of us that should really be concerned. It should matter a great deal when we cannot trust the priorities, honesty or competence of those who hold top government offices, or media acolytes that pitch and cover for them. We should be angered when willful, avoidable, unexplained failures to defend those who serve our country cause them to die. And yes again, Hillary, we should care because transparent investigations and disclosures of such events can provide lessons which truly do make a difference.....snip~
