Paris Riots After Gay Marriage Vote

It's from the Dailymail, what did you expect?

Having just visited the site, I would say that I would expect more detail about Venezuela's new Sports minister.

There are straight French people? Who knew......

There are straight French people? Who knew......

Ok, that is so bad it's funny as hell!

Someone in this keeps insisting this is the start of a revolution. Paris has over 10 million people in it's megacity limits. Who knows how many angry anti-SSM folks came to town to protest. I'd say the number angry enough to rebel isn't anything close to critical mass. It is one thing to dress up like Les Mis and make a fashion statement as you strike a protest pose but if the Equal Rights Act didn't spark a second Civil War in the South in '64 I don't see this starting a new Revolution in France.

Time will tell but I ain't holding my breath...

So Gay Paree is finally coming out of the closet.

It was always overcrowded in there anyway.

The face of "Direct Democracy" anyone? Is this the future?

It's best to check the Sun for boobie pics. You're welcome.

Something an ignorant bigot would say.

Ah, yes, once again someone who is "very" liberal proves they are ignorant of the meaning of "bigotry".

yep, I'm sure she is proud :lamo :laughat:

Let them protest, but they shouldn't riot or get violent.

Not really, when you consider how often the Libbos tell us how much more tolerant and enlightened Europeans are than Americans.

Who the hell every said that? We got our right wing bigots over here as well.. but unlike the US, we tend to ignore and marginalize them.
Many Americans see Europe as a utopia that America should copy, and they're usually the same people who support SSM.

I agree with Sangha on this one,in other words,do you have a link?
Some sort of scientific study?

I've been to Europe numerous times for business and recipe research, and while it's nice,it sure isn't any Utopia.
How many times have you been there, just curious?

who the hell said that?

"Some protesters opposed to the measure legalizing same-sex marriage hurled glass bottles, cans and metal bars, and riot police responded with tear gas at the Invalides memorial and museum complex, near the National Assembly." (French protest against gay marriage turns violent)

So people are really just pissed that they didn't get their way and are now throwing a giant tantrum. Real mature

They are French. They just need to calm down, and surrender to the inevitable. That shouldn't be hard, considering all the practice they have had at surrendering.

Oh c'mon let's be real here, this is France, they riot over coffee shortages. They're ENTITLED to riot.

That said, do the rioters have a legitimate beef? If it's a minority government pushing therough something that goes against the majority of the people, you betcha they do. France is a bit more on the straight democracy side than the US.

I think these are French descendants of the soldiers who fought at verdun in world war 1. They did not surrender, they fought like men possessed

While that may be what your marriage is about, that certainly isn't what most are about.

Although, I wouldn't want to hold back on that debate. If the debate goes to political and economic power, just as well fight it there too.
