Report: Canadian authorities thwart terror plot - CNN.com

(CNN) -- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are expected to announce Monday afternoon that Canadian law enforcement officials have "thwarted a plot to carry out a major terrorist attack, arresting suspects in Ontario and Quebec," the Canadian Broadcast Corp. reported.
The CBC, which is a CNN affiliate, quoted "highly placed sources" as saying the suspects were under surveillance for more than a year.
No connection exists between the disrupted plot in Canada and the Boston Marathon bombings, U.S. government sources told CNN's Carol Cratty.
The CBC reported that the investigation was "part of a cross-border operation involving Canadian law enforcement agencies, the FBI and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security."

Apparently, this was targetted at New York, but details are sketchy. Press conference forthcoming.

Good on the RCMP...

LOL, nice to be able to have some fun with this, as opposed to the horrible alternative.

Good job, eh!!

I agree...good job RCMP! :applaud:applaud:applaud

Why would you think it was a white supremacy Tea Party plot?

For the same reason that Axelrod and half the media thought the Boston bombing was the day it happened.

It was an al-Quaida cell planning an attack on a Toronto passenger train.

Canadian police: 2 arrested after authorities stop terror plot - CNN.com

Yep Toronto to NY.....

The plan to derail a passenger train – reportedly during a trip between Toronto and New York – could have resulted in a high number of casualties and scarred a region already suffering from last week’s bombing of the Boston Marathon.

The RCMP said the suspects scouted railroads in the Toronto area as part of their preparations. The pair had been under investigation for an extended period of time and investigators said they were ready to act if they went into action.

The suspects are not Canadian citizens. RCMP said the suspects were receiving support from al-Qaeda representatives in Iran.

Investigators claimed the two suspects face charges of “conspiring to carry out an attack against, and conspiring to murder persons unknown for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group.”

The arrests are bound to bring to mind the case of the "Toronto 18" terrorist group that were said to be behind a plot to bomb the CSIS headquarters, Toronto Stock Exchange and various other targets, as well as storm Parliament Hill and behead the prime minister.....snip~

I just wanted to point out, for those who like to lay blame, that reports have it that initial knowledge of these two and their plots came from the Muslim community in Toronto and the Muslim community also cooperated during the investigation. As one member of the Muslim community noted:

"At the end of the day, it's not how you dress, it's how you think. In our commmunity, we may look a little different, but in our hearts we love Canada. It's our country. It's our tribe. We want safety for all Canadians, regardless of their religion."

Regardless of your country or your faith, those are words that hopefully most if not all of us can agree with.

That's neat.

I'm glad they feel that way!!
