UPDATE: A fifth earthquake hits Oklahoma early Tuesday
5:35 a.m. The fifth earthquake of the morning in Oklahoma has been confirmed Tuesday. Jana Pursley, a geophysicist at the National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo., said the U.S. Geological Survey reports a 4.2 magnitude quake hit at 5:16 a.m. 4 miles east, northeast of Luther. 2:30 am. At least four earthquakes shook parts of Oklahoma early Tuesday.
A 4.3 magnitude earthquake occurred at 1:56 a.m. with an epicenter about 7 miles east, northeast of Luther and 22 miles east of Edmond, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Rumblings were felt across a wide portion of central Oklahoma, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

HOUSTON -- Oklahoma’s largest-recorded earthquake was triggered by injection wells used by the oil and gas industry, according to a report released this week.
The Tuesday report in the geoscience journal Geology is the latest scientific evidence suggesting injection wells may be causing an uptick in earthquakes nationwide. However, the report was viewed skeptically by Oklahoma's official seismologist.
