Package Sent to Arpaio Could Have Injured, Killed.....

I've seen some people in this thread intimate that this might have been an inside job...or the package might have been sent by someone who works for the Sheriff. I'm wondering why anyone thinks that? What in the article points to that possibility? I didn't read anything like that in the article.

Did I miss something?

No one knows anything, it's all speculation at this point. However, that scenario can not be ruled out.

James Saville was a pyromaniac and a felon. He did 18 months for trying to blow up his high school by opening a bunch of bunsen burners. While he was in prison, just before his release, a snitch turned the cops on to a plan he had to blow up the prosecutor and judge who had sentenced him. The MCSO put undercover officers in contact with him and the day after he got out he started building a bomb. The undercover cops did provide him with the material....just like the FBI provides suspected jihadi's with inert materials when they are conducting a sting. The jury saw it as a set up at trial but that happens some times. In no way, shape or form did Arpaio try to fake his own assassination.

Alleged assassination conspiracy

James Saville was arrested in July 1999 for allegedly conspiring to murder Joe Arpaio with a pipe bomb. Saville had just completed an 18-month sentence for arson for attempting to blow up his high school by filling it with gas from 37 opened bunsen burners. While in prison, Saville had drawn crude bomb plans and expressed to a jailhouse snitch the desire to kill the prosecutor and judge in his arson case. He was arrested the day after his release while assembling a bomb in the presence of an undercover sheriff’s officer. A jury decided that undercover officers from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office had entrapped Saville by turning his assassination plans toward Sheriff Arpaio, and found Saville not guilty.

Maricopa County Chief Deputy Jerry Sheridan made the comment Friday at a news conference in Phoenix. He said investigators are trying to locate one person who may have been involved in mailing the package addressed to his boss.....snip~

That's what the piece starts off with. ;)

Yes, I am making that comparison. You should dig into the man's history a bit rather than making a kneejerk defense of him.

If Arpaio is a war criminal and is such a bad sheriff why do the people of Maricopa County continue to re-elect him since 1993? I know it's because the electorate are racist right? Maybe they like him because he enforces the law.

People can make bad choices.

Do you think faking your own assassination attempt, putting the guy you framed for it in prison for four years without trail, makes you anything but a terrible sheriff?

Why repeat the same debunked slur? See post #27.

Oh, and people can make good choices to. Arpaio being one of them.

You mean the one that says the guy was entrapped? That doesn't debunk my post, really that kind of confirms it.

In that case, you must think that Obama, Reid, Pelosi, etc must be doing a great job!!

That would be criminal, has Arpaio been brought up on charges for this? He was elected in 93 and re-elected in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. Seems to me that the people of Maricopa County believe that Sheriff Joe is doing a great job.

Wow, I'm sorry we come from different planets on this one. It thorughly debunks your slur. Try to remember, he's a sheriff, he's going to work with other law enforcement.

No I don't think King O, Stretch Pelosi, and Scary Reid are doing a great job but their are enough low information idiots in this country to keep them in office. Not the case with Arpaio. He is a tough Sheriff doing a fine job something this country needs more of.

What does that have to do with it? All law enforcement work with other law enforcement, doesn't mean that its therefore impossible to be corrupt or bad at your job.

What do you think about the use of taxpayer money to investigate Obama's birth certificate?

People re elected Obama, you still criticize him. Being re-elected doesn't mean you are good at your job. And his office was brought up for it by the victim of the fake assassination which paid out 1.1 million of taxpayer dollars to cover it.

When was this 1.1 million paid? Never mind, it was in August 2008. 1.1 million of taxpayer money and 2 months later those tax payers re-elected Arpaio then again in 2012. There must be a reason. Could it be that he is a tough sheriff that enforces the law? hmmm?

The anti-Arpaio side has been making up lies about him for years,so I am extremely skeptical.

The re-election argument seems so rich coming from the same guys who complained about Obama, Pelosi and Reid all getting reelected.

I think you are misreading the quote. I took it to mean that Sheridan was saying that the person mailed a package to his (Sheridan's) boss. Not the mailer's boss.

Of course...I guess it's possible I'M misreading the quote.

I'm not saying you have to, no one can make you do it, just that its a good idea to make sure of something before you throw it out there. You know like doing a simple google search to make sure that before you suggest a story is fake that its actually not so you don't look dumb.

And no I don't like Arpaio, partly because he faked his own assassination attempt, put an innocent man away in prison for four years and cost the city 1.1 million in settlement with that man not to mention what it cost in legal fees alone for the city. But if that weren't reason enough there's also all the time of his officers and money of the taxpayer wasted to investigate Barack Obama's birth certificate.

The man is a criminal with a badge, and is a disgrace to the State of Arizona.

Oh enough with the hyperbole. The man that was aquitted was aquitted due to entrapment because the sherriffs deputies bought him some parts. In otherwords the man was building the bomb, he just didn't buy them all himself. He got off on a technicality. Not because he was never actually building a bomb to kill Arpaio.

Liberals don't care about facts, so all they have is hyperbole, disingenuous spin and downright insults to throw at those they feel threatened by...such as Arpaio.

Yeah I am sorry.....you are reading it the Right way. I was going with they had a suspect that had mailed the package.

Well we can't always have them talking about Chicago, NY, and L.A. Cops being screw-ups all the time and dealing in more corruption than Arpaio could ever think of.....or commit in his lifetime. Just Sayin! :2razz:

Entrapment is not a small issue, neither is not putting someone up for trail for four years, but how do you feel about this use of taxpayer dollars to investigate Obama's birth certificate?

If you are referring to Arpaio's investigation into Obama's birth certificate, it was the taxpayers that asked him to mount the investigation. I would hope they got their money's worth, but whether they did or not, it was their money...their choice. Who am I...or you...to judge them for how they spend their money?
