People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is actively shopping for a drone that would "stalk hunters," the organization said Monday.

The group says it will "soon have some impressive new weapons at its disposal to combat those who gun down deer and doves" and that it is "shopping for one or more drone aircraft with which to monitor those who are out in the woods with death on their minds."

The group says it will not weaponize the drones, but will use them to film potentially illegal hunting activity and turn it over to law enforcement.

PETA Plans to Fly Drones That Would 'Stalk Hunters' - US News and World Report

What an upside down world we live in today....The debate over gun control rages on....People are being drawn into supporting taking peoples private property to distribute to the collective...Rights, once proclaimed by our constitution granted us by God, are now determined, and given/taken by man....

And PETA wants to stalk, and harass legal hunters with drones....These people are just plain nuts. I'd shoot it down.

....so do we all get drones?

lol, what's the matter? Hunters dont like to be hunted?

edit:

Rights, once proclaimed by our constitution granted us by God

That's a silly notion. If that's the case, then every country would have the same rights.

ohhh, that's right, there's more than 1 god.
silly me.

drone shooting becomes a sport.

By animals maybe, by idiots with drones, not so much !

well, we are all animals. Animals are controlling the drones.

hell, just look at your Saint Palin, she likes to shoot animals from whirlybirds.

If a drone fails and falls on your property, can you put it in your garage (picking up trash) and refuse to allow the owners to retrieve it (no trespassing)?

Not the Peta-Copter

You better be able to put it away and refuse to return it.

IOW show me the $$$

You want it back,you pay!!

It seems this idea has been tried before:

A remote-control helicopter and camera sustained $4,000 in damage when they were shot over a pigeon shoot in Berks County, Pennsylvania State Police say.

Protesters of the shoot at the Wing Pointe Gun Club on Moselem Springs Road in Perry Township, Pa., were using the eight-rotor octocopter to film the pigeon shoot when it was damaged about 3:10 p.m. Sunday, according to a police report.

"I know, I know, let's send up a little unmanned helicopter to film all these guys with shotguns shooting at flying things!"

"Great idea! What could possibly go wrong?"

"yeah, that will make them quit shooting pigeons."

and so it did.

And do what exactly? I mean, fly overhead and....video? It says they're not going to weaponize, but...take video to what end?

Taken at their word, they are "monitoring" illegal hunting. So they wouldn't be harassing legal hunters. Still, why?

Actually, illegal hunting is a real problem in some areas - and very difficult to catch. There are some people who will shoot and kill everything and anything just to kill it. We (FWC) continually have to figure how to catch such people when we come across a mass-killing field. For example, a hunter who will shoot the doe - knowing if he waits the babies will come back to it's mother - and then kill each of the babies - and then wait for the vultures to shoot those too. At such a scene there also will be dead hawks, every other kind of bird, cranes and other protected water birds shot dead in the water, etc. Occasionally, they'll also be dead dogs and cats too from that person picking up such animals just to have more animals to shoot.

Legitimate hunters hate those people every bit as much as PETA does.

However, drones would be so loud its not like a drone could sneak up on anyone.

To harass legal hunters of course. Fly a noisy device over the hunting grounds to spook and run animals off. PETA is a jackass organization that defends eco-terrorists. **** them.

I think so, unless Obama calls for 'drone control'.....

Sweet, I'm totally going to monitor government with mine.

I just have one question.

What's the limit on those puppies?

It says, to turn the videos of illegal hunters over to police. The why is they want evidence of poachers' crimes.

I am going to use mine to catch a glimpse of the neighbor lady up the street poolside....I suspect there is some nude sun bathing going on around the June thru September time frame.....heh, heh.....

You have to share!

And then what? Unless you can identify the hunters, you've got nothing. How can you tell from the air that it's illegal?
