Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87 [W:113]

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

Don't be so daft. Who else has the power to destroy a country? Look at Bliar and Cameron.

The UK has been destroyed 3 different times by Blair, Cameron and Thatcher?

Basically destroyed by thatcher, disgraced and publicly shamed by bliar, and the desert turned into a squalid bleeding class-battlefield by the scumbag Cameron and his liars. All that will be left is the drunken ranting nazis of the Mail, torturing the sick and the poor.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

I never take pleasure is someone's death. I wanted her tried, obviously. I hate no-one, but she destroyed my country and made milllions suffer, rewardiong every kind of evil and making ignorant selfishness 'normal'. She was the worst human being who has ever lived, anywhere, ever.

Facts on Thatcher....

After moving into 10 Downing Street, Thatcher introduced a series of political and economic initiatives to reverse what she perceived to be Britain's precipitous national decline.[nb 1] Her political philosophy and economic policies emphasised deregulation (particularly of the financial sector), flexible labour markets, the privatisation of state-owned companies, and reducing the power and influence of trade unions.

snip

Thatcher was committed to reducing the power of the trade unions, whose leadership she accused of undermining parliamentary democracy and economic performance through strike action.[100] Several unions launched strikes in response to legislation introduced to curb their power, but resistance eventually collapsed.[101] Only 39% of union members voted for Labour in the 1983 general election.[102] According to the BBC, Thatcher "managed to destroy the power of the trade unions for almost a generation".[103]
The miners' strike was the biggest confrontation between the unions and the Thatcher government. In March 1984 the National Coal Board (NCB) proposed to close 20 of the 174 state-owned mines and cut 20,000 jobs out of 187,000.[104][105][106] Two-thirds of the country's miners, led by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) under Arthur Scargill, downed tools in protest.[104][107][108] Scargill had refused to hold a ballot on the strike,[109] having previously lost three ballots on a national strike (January 1982, October 1982, March 1983).[110] This led to the strike's being declared illegal.[111][112]
Thatcher refused to meet the union's demands and compared the miners' dispute to the Falklands conflict two years earlier, declaring in a speech in 1984: "We had to fight the enemy without in the Falklands. We always have to be aware of the enemy within, which is much more difficult to fight and more dangerous to liberty."[113]

So, she turned the economy around, slowed the decline of the country, and challenged the union stranglehold on the coal, so she is demonized, and hated by Marxist, but history provides that she was a hero of the British people. Without her you brits wouldn't have a pot to piss in right now.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

Basically destroyed by thatcher

Please explain?
If your world (the UK as you knew it) was the one where someone else paid the bills for your local council parties and community schemes, where you had a job for life and if you were sacked for being caught in a sleeping bag at work - the unions would get you back into your job and an abject apology from your employer then I agree. Otherwise, Thatcher put a stop to the nightmare of the 70's.

disgraced and publicly shamed by bliar

I'd like an example and explanation of this please. All I'm reacting to is your emotive reaction to politicians you didn't like.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

-- Without her you brits wouldn't have a pot to piss in right now.

We would, but it would have been lent to us by the IMF and the unions would demand the right to piss in it first.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

'Raises' is the word you want.

Many English speakers use "begs the question" to mean "raises the question", "evades the question", or even "ignores the question", and follow that phrase with the question, for example: "this year's deficit is half a trillion dollars, which begs the question: how are we ever going to balance the budget?" Apart from philosophical, logical, grammatical and legal contexts, some authorities deem such usage to no longer be mistaken.[5][6][7][25][26]

So we are in the mess we are in today. She hated, basically, people, and did them all the harm she could. Clearly you are a tory, so you have the same aims. We suffered, you prate.

Sorry the bolded bit makes a mockery of your I hare no-one bit. In no way shape or form could she be considered the worst human being that has ever lived. Again I named 4 totally evil dictators we could go back farther in time to Ghengis Khan, Vlad the impaler Caligula etc. You disagreed with her policies but she was not an evil dictator at the very worst you can consider her a democratically elected politician who's policies were not good for your country. Unless/until they actually take over and make a dictatorship, you are just spewing hate.

Remember all I said works same for Hugo Chavez, Obama or any other democratically elected leader regardless of their political ideology.

I sir am an American conservative....Thatcher didn't "hate people"...Just Marxist people she saw destroying her beloved Britain....

The problem is, I speak the language. How snobbish of me to believe that meaning is meaning when idiots use language totally inaccurately and then - because the ignorant are many - claim, like a very American, that mistakes must be right if there are enough idiots! Go to school. kid.

The scumbags you name lived in scumbag times. She took an advanced country and turned it into a sort of mini-America without the good points. She was utterly evil. as you know. Stop posturing and be ashamed.

I was here. She hated everyone. Scum of the earth. I lived in a mining area she made into a police state. Totally evil creature, full of spite, like any tory, but seizing the power to spoil and destroy and kill.

LOL, Thatcher was never Prime Minister of Germany or America. She took over a has been country run into the ground by powerful unions and 11 years later left a far healthier country. The same British people you claim she hated had the right to buy their own council homes and 1 in 4 of us had shares in private companies.

That's not hate - all you're describing is your envy of her acheivements.

What a disgusting way to talk about a dead person who can't defend herself. I hope I never read anything from you about "hate" because that is one of the most hateful things I have ever had the displeasure to read.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

Short-termist management and lack of reinvestment had nothing to do with the parlous state of British manufacturing and it was all the union's' fault. That's why it didn't hurt when it became terminal under Thatcher. Great swathes of the country laid waste on the altar of monetarism.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

Facism is defined as such by Wiki...

Applying this to Thatcher begs the question if you even know what facism is.

Oh yes, I know what fascism is. Further, I'm skeptical of Wikipedia, and of those who see it as some sort of authority. To be kind, let's just say she loved to associate with and speak highly of, fascists.

Two things you are not allowed to get away with here...

1. Show where the relevant passages I posted from Wiki are not factual, I am not a fan either, but facts are facts. If you can't disprove what was posted, you yourself, are committing a logical fallacy, and instantly lose the argument.

2. Show where Thatcher spoke highly of fascists, or associated with them...Otherwise, you have made claims that you can not back up, and lose the argument instantly.

Thank you.

Powerful unions, my American elbow! I do not envy murderous scum, child. Humans don't, you see - they have lived in a culture and know better.

Duw - there's clever!

And when Mrs Thatcher died
oh how all the tories cried,
and they raised five million pound
just to put her underground!

Wiki offers a definition. You may accept a definition as a fact, but I do not. I see a definition as a starting point, not a statement of facts. Many false definitions are offered up, and while the one offered by Wiki is sorta kinda close, I don't find it complete.

Thatcher associated with and spoke highly of Suharto, I think Pinochet, and others of her time that were poor leaders and criminals.

I see you're going to ignore the strikes that brought down Ted Heath, Harold Wilson and Jim Callaghan.. you're going to ignore people like Aurthur Scargill, Derek Robinson etc.

You claimed Thatcher "destroyed" Britain - where is your honest appraisal for what happened in the 70's when unions could dictate to Prime Ministers and had a large say in Labour policy?
