Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequester.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

Are you referring to US Patent Office? I don't think they have an official opinion on the free market.

Well, i was referring to the republicans who love the patent office while supposedly hating restrictions on capitalism.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

Bush blamed Clinton for everything bad during his whole 8 years. He blamed Clinton for his first recession, 911, Korea getting nukes, some in his administration even said invading Iraq was Clinton's idea. The Daily show even had a bit about FOX news blaming Clinton during the Bush Administration.

and the left squealed and cried about it for 8 years. but now that "their boy" is in office, it's perfectly fine for them to do the same thing that they cried about for 8 years.

the left bashed bush continually for 8 years. but any negative comment about Obama is met by bleats of "racism"

when people made nasty comments about Chelsea Clinton the left was outraged. but that didn't stop them from attacking Bush's daughters. and I would bet that any criticism/insult to Obama's daughters would be met with the same outrage, conveniently forgetting what they said about the bush girls.

the hypocrisy is staggering.

How would protecting peoples investments be anti-capitalist

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

Obama wanted it, got it passed in congress and signed it into law. Sequestration was/is Obama's puppy all the way.

And it was wrong.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

Partisans always make me laugh: both parties failed you, and no solution is forth coming because they are more concerned about party politics than your well being.

Congratulations on being someone's tool, though

No, sh--t. I get that> The whole thing was wrong.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

holy moley. stop the presses. a liberal actually admitting that Obama did something wrong!!!!

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

There is a price when a democratic leader tries to give away the farm to stay in office.

There is a price when the repubs let this happen, and then gloat about it.

eventually we are going to run out of "other people's money" and all hell is going to break loose. hopefully I will be dead before that day comes. sadly, my children and grandchildren will most likely have to suffer though it.

Do you have any evidence at all to support this claim?

For some reason I'm reminded of when the government shut down during the Clinton admin and most people didn't even miss it. Conservatives love to go on about "We need less goevernment, we need less government," now you've got less government and you all think this is horrible.

Also, it bears reminding that it wouldn't have passed without the support of the House leadership, who are Republicans last I checked.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

Then Obama should have vetoed it. ;)

he needs a PASSED bill in order to sign it
he cannot sign something which does not exist

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

Great....Now we see the propensity of our politicians to make things as painful on us as they can, while they go on vacation, and live it up like elites....:doh

This is just criminal.

IOW, you oppose spending cuts, and support the govt paying for peoples' health care.

Welcome to the dark side of socialism, j-mac!

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

And it was wrong.

I don't see how you can possibly claim the sequestration was wrong when it is basically the first time in US history when a bill was passed that included reductions in spending that are actually being realized. US history is repleat with bills to raise taxes and reduce spending and the only thing that gets implemented is the tax increases, the spending cuts conveniently get forgotten.

It's good for Americans to see that they can actually cut spending and that sometimes it hurts - it might give them some respect for the taxpayers' dollars and they might just start to hate wasteful spending in the future.

Ah, but Medicare is different

Link 1 states that economic growth was negative in the first quarter when Bush entered office. I guess that would make it true.

Link 2. I agree Bush's spending was a huge problem. 9/11 had a lot to do with why we went to war. I believe it was neccessary. I dont think we will reach agreement on this. Original article rather than stupid blog crap not worth linking to because its partisan drivel:
White House projects record deficit for 2009 - CNN.com

Link 3 gvies the original link as a Houston Chronicle article and is a dead link. However, Clinton's reticence for enforcing sanctions and and inability to ensure technology embargoes was fairly well known and could not have helped matters.

Link 4 Dude. BUSH WASNT IN OFFICE YET! June 23, 2000? Bush was placing blame on the guy in office at the time, why the hell would Bush take blame when he wasnt President yet. Nice self own there.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

So THIS is what a national single-payer healthcare system would look like! All that's missing is the government panel that decides who gets to go to the doctor, or which medicines are cost-effective.

a 2% reduction in medicare, yet the clinic mentioned in the op is cutting 1/3 of their medicare patients.

profits over patients.

LOL - Bush was such a powerful man that he deserves blame for all that is bad in the administration after his, as well as the one before!

You would prefer they go out of business and cut 3/3 of their medicare patients?

the numbers don't add up here for this clinic.

2% less money from medicare results in a 33% reduction in medicare patients seen.

sounds like profits first to me.

Because it was not thought through and Obama never thought it would pass the house. Some 750,00 jobs will be lost and that is not good for this fragile economy. Plus alot of really poor people will be hurt. I'm not opposed to cutting spending but this was ridiculous IMO

Profits are what are required to keep a business functioning. If a 2 percent reduction in Medicare cuts into the margin enough that it means that 33 percent of patients cannot be seen without running the clinic into bankruptcy (see OP), then, well, yeah. Your choice is one third or three thirds.
