Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequester.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

 :doh Have you seen the Obama "budgets"? Be glad that congress did not pass any of them.

and here i was believing that appropriations are initiated by the house of representatives; in this instance a house dominated by members of the republican party

Yep. That is indeed where they start (note that Obama has yet to produce his 2014 "budget" due on Feb 2, 2013), yet the next stop is Harry Reid's dead zone, the US Senate, where they morph into "continuing resolutions" to keep the 20% ("one time", crisis, emergency, TARP + ARRA) federal spending level increase from 2008/9 intact (as a "baseline") and add the "appropriate" spending increases. ;) BTW, we still have 98.6% of those "unfair" Bush tax rates in place.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

and now medicare is faced with a shortfall of funds to provide the care our citizens require

and that shortfall was not caused by the $700 billion dollars drained away to fund Obamacare, but instead was caused by the 2% sequestration cut? talk about weird

yep, the sequestration cuts appear to be responsible for this shortfall
only because the GOP dominated house of representatives failed to effect an appropriations

the salient point is that you acknowledged that the house of representatives, that one with the republican majority, has not effected appropriations needs by our government agencies to operate

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

And demo's like Obama, or Reid who could step in and shift something like this elsewhere so that it didn't target grandma's chemo treatments, are using it as a hammer to demonize the repubs, and cow the people...Ain't it great?

The sequester had no provision for changing the allocation of funding. That would require congress to pass a bill actually doing so. Therefore, fault lies with both parties because no budget can be passed without both parties.

doesn't matter what appropriations are effected in the house...if they get squashed in the senate. partisan hackery will not solve the issue

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

And some repubs are taking a victory lap on the sequester, Boehner being one of them.

Partisans always make me laugh: both parties failed you, and no solution is forth coming because they are more concerned about party politics than your well being.

Congratulations on being someone's tool, though

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

Good afternoon, CJ. :2wave:

Looking at the job numbers this morning was disheartening. I guess the man behind the curtain has already taken off in the hot-air balloon---just like in the Wizard of Oz, and we are now on our own! Maybe if the folks in DC worked a little harder on behalf of the people who elected them, instead of what we are seeing?...HA!... I might as well make a wish on a star...I'll get the same results.....

WORK !!

Surely you jest !

All's well in the world dont you know ?

:2razz:

then show me where the GOP dominated house sent its appropriations package to the senate for a vote

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

Of course you're aware that GW had a secret plan to bury the economy in Obama's second term with a sequestration bomb.

It's amazing that BHO could be right all the time and Bush be wrong all the time!. The statistical possibilities of that occuring simply have to be in the stratosphere...talk about mind boggling! :2brickwal: I wonder what Bush thinks when he sees the spin going on....Is he laughing, or does he even much care?

Then Obama should have vetoed it. ;)

Good afternoon, penn 1954 :2wave:

Why don't I see that Utopia has finally arrived? Silly me....:naughty: I really gotta get with the program...

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

I could blame obama for this, but i am pretty sure it is the insane mark up on cancer drugs, and I would also guess it is the limitations on capitalistic competition that causes the mark up to be so high. Who are the supposed champions of the free market who enforce a monopoly on drugs again?

There is a price when a democratic leader tries to give away the farm to stay in office.

seeing how is being paid full retirement for the rest of his life after working 8 years...I doubt he really cares.

what is amazing is that 8 years of Clinton had absolutely no effect on the Bush administration, but somehow Bush is responsible for everything that goes on in the Obama admin.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

the only problem is.... there were no cuts to medicaid/medicare due to the
sequester. These clinics are using "sequester" as a scapegoat

my bad. medicaid is exempt from sequester cuts. medicare cuts are limited to 2%.

Lol...its not the clinics dude.

Yeah, it's probably explainable by some monk in the Himalayas as a time-continuum thing, but it certainly is odd, isn't it? I mean...to skip four years like that? :bs:

I think GW and his dad and probably Jeb too laugh it off and don't concern themselves with what Obama and/or his media friends think about them. They're all very confident men and didn't worry about polls when it came to doing what they thought was best and they're happy to let history judge them, come what may. People like Carter and Clinton and Obama are consumed with being popular and trying to get people to love them - it's why they're constantly in the limelight and constantly trying to prove how smart they are.

Are you referring to US Patent Office? I don't think they have an official opinion on the free market.

Re: Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients. Blame the sequest

The first thing that should have been cut is Congressional salaries. Suddenly there'd be a bipartisan solution.

Their salaries are a pittance compared with what the get from the lobbyists. Not to mention the jobs they get offered when they leave office as long as they "play ball". We have lost control of our legislators and there is nothing we can do. Throwing them out only results in WORSE and more beholding sell-outs as their replacements.

Bush blamed Clinton for everything bad during his whole 8 years. He blamed Clinton for his first recession, 911, Korea getting nukes, some in his administration even said invading Iraq was Clinton's idea. The Daily show even had a bit about FOX news blaming Clinton during the Bush Administration.

This is just one example of many of the consequences of what our culture has built. We value money over human life. And that is across the board.

I agree for the most part, but, although both parties are to shoulder the blame, as I said in my opening post, they are all on vacation while cancer patients are told to hit the bricks, it just seems like the Obama cabal is doing what ever they can to make the cuts as painful as possible...A political calculation I suspect.
