Police arrest 2 teens in georgia baby's killing

My thoughts exactly. Some of the things she said just don't seem right. For instance, she said that after she got shot in the leg with a handgun, her leg went numb and since the gun was so small she thought it was a bb gun.

How could anyone think it was a bb gun? Even a .22 is a hell of a lot louder than a bb gun!

And another thing, she was talking in a crying tone of voice, but there was no tears. That's a bit suspicious too.

Yea, and her hair was perfect (for her).

I've been to Brunswick a few times. It's a completely bigoted, backwards town. It wouldn't surprise me at all if racial slurs were used which provoked the attack. Let's allow the facts to come to light before we rally the lynch mobs here.

Appears to me that these two scumbags lived up to those racial slurs in the finest order. These two clowns give black people a name. It's because of them and people like them that racism exists. These bastards justify racism.

After they're found guilty, they should go straight to the gas chamber.

A white woman kills her child and says an African-American is responsible? Nah, couldn't be.

I'm telling you guys, Brunswick is a plantation community.

Weren't you just complaining about racism?

Early on there were comments about "inconsistencies" in the mother's story. She was just so... into addressing the crush of reporters. She even pulled back her hair and shove her ear toward the nearest camera to show where one of the bullets grazed her (couldn't see so much as a scratch, although camera's aren't exactly HD in the field). She was also shot... in the leg... while the baby was shot square in the face.

Something in her words... I'm paraphrasing somewhat because I can't recall exactly... "They told me to give them money. I said I don't have any money. They reached for my purse. They said they'd kill my baby. I said no, don't kill my baby. Then they shot me and killed my baby." First, though, she went through this detailed description of how she decided to go for a walk because she realized she didn't get out enough, and it would be good for her to get out, and how she was so close to home when it happened (although nobody saw or heard a thing). Also, she said they ran off but didn't mention whether they'd taken her purse or not.

After that she went into great detail about grabbing her baby and looking for a safe place, went into a stranger's driveway (although she was just a few doors from her home) and tried to give cpr, describing how she could see the baby's chest moving, but he wasn't breathing on his own, and then the police came and they did cpr too, but "then we lost him."

You know, that's just a bunch of details that most traumatized parents wouldn't be sharing in an almost enthusiastic manner during a press briefing. I got a really nape-hairs-prickling vibe from her, that's all.

The angle of her wounds will determine if they were self inflicted and no doubt that, by now, they've tested for gunshot residue on the suspects. If there was no gunshot residue, then they wouldn't have anything to hold them on.

Only an idiot would excuse a murder based on any kind of words being exchanged.

Me too-AIDS

No, we'd spend tons of money trying to save them. If you want to give them AIDS, lock them in a room and never do more than shove food under the door once a day, I could live with that, but you know they'll spend hundreds of thousands, at least, trying to keep them alive.

Just put a bullet in their heads.

Dude, you are one of the biggest racists I've ever had the misfortune of reading. Just because you've been to Brunswick a few times doesn't mean you know jack sh1t. Brunswick's racial makeup is 60% black, 30% white. Why don't you talk about something you know?

Actually a neighbor came out instantly and other neighbors came quickly.. The mother was trying to give the baby CPR.. The neighbors that there was NOTHING fishy going on with the mother...

Nah, a bullet is too easy. I vote for a shark tank or a lions den.

Personally, I hope they get punished to the full extent of the law, if they are tried and found guilty. Little scumbags.
Way too early for the call. An arrest doesn't mean the police got the right persons nor does it prove the mother's story is true. Not saying it's not, but remember the name Susan Smith? Everything has to be checked out and pursued at this time.

THIS IS FROM A NEIGHBOR THAT COMMENTED AT CNN!

This happened in my neighborhood. I live a block away from where the shooting occurred and I can assure you that the mother did NOT hurt her own child, nothing fishy is going on regarding that. Neighbors heard the shots... heard her screaming and ran out to help her. She performed CPR on the baby. No gun was recovered at the scene, she didn't leave the scene, had no way to hide a gun. She didn't even realize she had been shot because she was in shock. And I saw a kid running down the street that matched the description, I had to give a statement to the police. An innocent mother lost her child and you people want to lay blame on her. Be careful before you judge a situation.

We don't want to poison sharks or lions now, do we?

You didn't read the post I was replying to. Did you?

News update - One of the suspects has an alibi.

Baby murdered: Teen's family says he has an alibi - MyTVJax.com - Jacksonville, FL

Police arrested two teens Friday morning, including a 14-year-old whose name has not been released due to his age, and 17-year-old Demarquis Elkins. Elkins' sister told Action News there is no way he's involved. "He loved babies. He loves all kids," said Sabrina Elkins as police searched her home. "He has a good heart. My brother would never in life do something like this to no baby."

Their aunt, Katrina Freeman, tells Action News Elkins was with her when the shooting took place Wednesday morning.

"I know one-hundred percent that he's innocent. He was with me all morning."

fyi............

Right because if this woman used a racial slur that 1 year old baby deserved to be shot in the face.

If they are found guilty, they deserve the highest sentence allowable.

That said, this whole story doesn't ring true with me. The only thing that has been consistent is the fact that there is a dead baby, and someone shot the poor little thing. The mother seems... off. If I'd just seen someone slaughter my baby, I wouldn't be giving long, rambling interviews within hours. Everything she said seemed so practiced, so nonsensical (the way she made a big deal of running into a driveway with her baby, after the perps had left instead of screaming for help, for example). She seemed more nervous than griefstricken... then again, people deal with grief differently.

All I know is that when I saw her, my brain whispered "shades of Susan Smith." If the police can't find the murder weapon and tie it to their "suspects", you can color me skeptical about the entire quick-turnaround arrest based on... well, based on nothing that's been made public beyond they fit the descriptions.

Yeah, I'm cynical. I know. But I'll wait and see what happens on this, because I'm not getting the "aha, justice will now be done" vibe.

The interview I saw with this mother she was crying during the entire interview.

I'll grant you it's really kind of weird how she keeps saying "my baby" instead of using a name. After seeing the video I can understand why there is some question.

The video of her and the way she intermittently cried with eyes looking down every now and then reminds me of Susan Smith. She looked and cried just like Susan Smith, it's like an old version of her coming out of the prison. Her long discourse about lethal injection for juvenile tried as an adult is so out of place for a grieving mother of such magnitude as if she was advocating for death penalty and not grieving for her murdered baby. Just saying ...

It's the last little bit that just kind of... throws everything else off. She stops crying long enough to start talking about cops, justice system and the death penalty? Yeah...

No kidding.

The mother claims to have ID'd one of the boys so the police don't need GSR to hold the two.

It would be difficult to determine the angles because unlike TV 'CSI' type shows you can't be certain positions of the people involved.

Well, hopefully, there test for GSR to gather more evidence, or expose exculpitory evidence.

They can determine if her wounds are self inflicted.

The problems I have with arguments like this and interpretations on how she was acting during the video is that such an experiance is pretty far from what most people have familierity with.

Its really hard to say how anyone would act under those conditions, even when intentionally deceiving people

Thanks for finding that... I suck at Google. :(

Actually, though, it gave me the creeps all over again, the way she was kinda crying, then would suddenly stop to point out the house where she took the baby and give the address, then back to kinda crying...

Bah, I'm suspicious, what can I say? And that Barney Fife police department that immediately scooped up two kids then held a press conference to basically tell the world that their town was really a safe town, blah-blah-blah, more PR, more blah-blah...

I hope those kids are guilty, because I have a gut feeling they're going down for this no matter what.

After reading the story in a couple of different places, I found it interesting that she reportedly had a teenage son who was also killed, when they lived up north somewhere (sorry, I forget exactly where, but I think it was in the NE coastal area). It seems odd to me that this one woman lost two children, in two different circumstances, to youth violence.
