Food-stamp use doubles

Sure the wars he didn't fund an include in the debt and
Medicare subsidies to pharmaceutical companies and bailouts.

If you have to LIE, to support your ideology, your'e still left with a suck ideology.

Honestly, the Liberals in this Country are suffering under some mass delusion.

According to the " National Priorities Project " the two DEMOCRAT approved wars cost over 11 years 1.4 trillion dollars.

Obama knocks that out in one year of deficit spending.

Hell he got close in the 3 rd quarter of last year when he spent 900 billion.

So enough with the Bull****. Its not my problem you have issues with honesty, just lie to someone else.

The Democrats want to blame the wars and deficits on Republicans!

And the Republicans want to blame the Democrats!

Don't they understand that they're both right?

Obama can't spend. The Congress spends..and then threatens to shut down the government if it's budget isn't passed.

Talk about being supportive of some sick ideology.

You said Bush spent 13 Trillion on wars, bailouts and medicade Part B.

Show your data supporting that ridiculous assertion.

And quit blaming this on Congress. A President is to SUPPOSE to be a leader and a continuing resolution is not a budget.

Wasn't talking to you but if you want to try and quantify Muddy's claim that Bush spent 13 Trillion then go right ahead.

The Cost of the two democrat supported wars is pretty easy to find.

I couldn't agree more. I believe in order to receive assistance they should be required to do some type of community service. Pick up trash, Plant tree's, work at an apple orchard. Give them something to do beisides sit around and wait for a check. This would likely curb some of the criminal activities we have.

It's ironic that folks on the right who support policies that push wages down (cheap foreign labor, right to work, no minimum wage) and then blame the left, who support labor advantages to keep wages higher, for increased eligibility for food stamps and other welfare programs.

55% of food stamps recipients are children or seniors and 41% have jobs.

Only 17% of food stamp recipients are men without jobs.

Conservative policy can be summed in one sentence. Watch us crush the incomes of the American people and then call them lazy freeloaders when our policy works.

yes, it is, at least as easy as finding the cost of the Republican supported wars.

Seems pretty obvious. If the choice is between a town that has union baggage and will be far more expensive to start up a business or 20 miles away another town that does not then the choice is easy.

It's been my experience that what some see as obvious usually isn't. We become blind to possibilities when we start thinking that way. But regardless, it's good practice to avoid logical reasoning errors and do the work of looking at all factors.

True enough, but there has to be a better solution to fewer jobs than more welfare.

I don't disagree. But I think it would be structured in a short term to long term fashion. And I wouldn't be too quick to demonize those on welfare, as some have done.

How did you come to the conclusion that I support Cheap Foreign labor and no minimum wage from my post?

You say that only 17% of those receiving food stamps are men without jobs. What's so bad about them having to earn some of that aid? Are you telling me there is no trash to pick up off the roadways? No betterment projects they can help out on? Do something besides be a drain on all of us!

And how about the ladies? How many of them are sitting at home doing nothing all day? How about they help out the community some by working for some of what they get?

I have no problem with kids, Elderly, Handicap folks getting assistance. Those that can not take care of themselves should get assistance.

Do you honestly think conservatives want to see people needing welfare? That is among the lamest ideas I have seen on this forum. What good would it do for conservatives to put people on the government dole so we can pay for it. I for one would rather people got off their asses and worked for a living. I do understand folks can fall on hard times and sometimes they are so hard they need a hand. To those people I say how can I help. To those that stand around waiting on the next link payment all the while driving around in better cars than most, living in free housing that they tear to bits, and wearing more expensive clothes than most I say do us all a favor and either get a job or off yourself. I am not in favor of cradle to grave generation to generation of welfare queens working the system and leaving less for those that depend on it to survive.

If you see that as me being greedy or heartless well I guess you you got me figured out.

And create MORE unemloyment and MORE food stamps? I thought you wanted food stamps to end. If you give slave labor to corporations and the government, won't that just increase the food stamp needs? How about creating government jobs so people have good incomes to buy things that will create private sector jobs?

What's wrong with that?

That's a great idea. Everyone should work for the government and we'll all be rich!

Why didn't anyone think of that before?

That's not Conservative policy, thats nonsense.

And show me one Lib policy thats "worked" because right now after 4 years the best "your policies" can do is prop up a Stock market with printed currency.

Nothing, it worked great in Greece.

Actually it's wrong in the principle Liberal assumption that we can borrow and spend our way out of a recession. Not too metion public sector Unions and their tendency for squeezing every spare penny out of the tax payers for unsustainable benefits.

I mean if Obama hasn't pushed for it then there is somethung REALLY wrong it.

How is it slave labor when you can CHOOSE to get an actually job? Last I knew slaves didn't have much of a choice in whether or not they would work.

Smaller Government is something I believe in and adding more employee's to the Government is not something I can back. My taxes are plenty high enough as it is.

How about we get the government down in size and get out of the way so we Citizens can create jobs.

I have seen plenty of your posts and I can tell you now this is not a topic we will agree on.

Why is it the right wing can't answer the questions put forth. Why do you guys always change what is said? Seriously.

Why is not creating government jobs at good wages a good idea?

Would this not help stimulate the consumption of goods and services and then create more private sector jobs?

What do you think would create more jobs in the nation?

Delusions. Do you really think that once corporations control every aspect of our lives that your taxes won't go up? It costs three times the cost to run a private prison as it did a federal and state prison and prisoners were rehabilitated and not as dangerous as they are now when they are set back out in society. We even afforded mental health facilities and people who needed medication to behave normally were not roaming our streets and filling our prisons.

Your taxes are too low. Our bridges are falling down, our road in a shamble, our educational system has gone from being number one in the world in the late 1970's to now being about 27th in the world. Our health care is a joke with our corporate costs and the republcians want to go back to uninsuring MORE Americans and letting insurance companies take money only from the healthy.

Slave labor are the wages and lack of health insurance. You can't live on what you're paid anymore and the wages keep going down in value as the price of gas goes up, groceries go up, rent goes up, housing goes up, utilities go up. That's slave wages. When wages provide for a person to live on their own, have good health care coverage, go on vacations, have money to set aside in a savings account, then we have a good wage system in the US. You want to settle for less, that's fine. But MOST in this nation are TIRED of the rich getting richer and taking from and destroying the middle class to do it. Don't like big government? Me neither. I thought Bush's creation of Homeland Security was nothing but waste to help the MIC get more money and I was right. But it's going to be big no matter what. And the republicans make it bigger by passing laws protecting corporations and treating American workers, and families, like corporate slaves.

We either create more government jobs and stop the republcian slashing and deleting of middle class pay, or we become the third world nation the republicans want so children can work 12 hour days for $1.50. It's happened before. Your inability to know economic history isn't going to alter it.

What a rant and rave on anti-unions and government. Seems you on the right LOVE big government when it benefits corporations. All that money spent on Homeland security just to help out the MIC getting more money for more weapons on our streets.

And you LOVE big government when it comes to interfering in personal lives of people. Let's have abortion police monitor when a woman buys a pregnancy test and then follow her see if she's going to have an abortion.

And you LOVE big government when it comes to rah rah two wars and get them middle easterners and spend all that money sending troops overseas and building 750 bases in 36 countries to protect corporate interests abroad. Yeah, SPEND that big government money helping the rich get bigger.

Tell you what, when you practice what you preach on the right, we can have a discussion about small government and less spending. Until then, all we have are differences on where we think big government should be put helping out our nation grown.

I disagree with pretty much everything you have written except the cost of prison's, which I am not sure how we got on the subject of. I would also agree that the republican's are doing no better of a job shrinking the Government.

I have all those things you mentioned as do most of the productive people I know, and with the exception of a couple none of us are rich. We live within our means and save what we can. We take responsibility for us and our's. Listen I used to work jobs that paid little and had no benefits. Those jobs were never intended to sustain a family with all of the perks. They were intended to be a place to start. Once I landed a job I started looking for a better one and so on. I worked my rear end off and people noticed. I moved up and then moved on when a better opportunity came along. Everyone I know has done the same. If we can do it so can the rest. You say Most are tired of the rich getting richer I say the are either striving to get to the same place or jealous they do not have the same work ethic.

Government jobs are not the answer. My Taxes are too high and the Rebulicans are not out to rid the world of the Middle Class.

The question is neither for ever nor any set time, but need versus opportunity and ability.

What sort of government jobs do you have in mind?

And how would that help the private sector?

USDA Suggests Hosting Food Stamp Parties to Increase Participation in the Program.....

While spending on the food stamp program has increased 100 percent under President Barack Obama, the government continues to push more Americans to enroll in the welfare program.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has embraced entire promotional campaigns designed to encourage eligible Americans to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps.

A pamphlet currently posted at the USDA website encourages local SNAP offices to throw parties as one way to get potentially eligible seniors to enroll in the program.

“Throw a Great Party. Host social events where people mix and mingle,” the agency advises. “Make it fun by having activities, games, food, and entertainment, and provide information about SNAP. Putting SNAP information in a game format like BINGO, crossword puzzles, or even a ‘true/false’ quiz is fun and helps get your message across in a memorable way.”

The agency’s most recent outreach effort targets California, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio and the New York metro area with radio ads.

The ads have been running since March and are scheduled to continue through the end of June — at a cost of $2.5 million — $3 million, CNN Money reported Monday.

Despite the high rate of food stamp participation, the USDA has numerous blueprints posted on their website aimed at getting more people to enroll in SNAP. A 2009 State Outreach Plan Guidance explains why the agency believes states should adopt strategies to get more people on the rolls:

“Every $5 in new SNAP benefits generates $9.20 in an additional community spending,” the USDA contends in their outreach guidance. “If the national participation rate rose five percentage points, 1.9 million more low-income people would have an additional $1.3 billion in benefits per year to use to purchase healthy food and $2.5 billion total in new economic activity would be generated nationwide.”.....snip~

Seems the USDA want to put more onto the rolls.....which they say a Community benefits from the use of food stamps.
