Pyongyang scraps armistice amid heightened saber rattling

Didn't the last NK nuke test go off about 40 miles from the Chinese border?

What's that got to do with anything? The location of NK's nuclear blasts are selected for very important reasons, being up in the mountains they are in one of the least populated areas in NK, mountains make for excellent defense against high res satellite imagery and you can tunnel underneath them. Also you wouldn't want to do the nuclear blast further south since the close you get to South Korea with that thing the easier it will be for them to measure and possibly observe it, plus you might spook them more than you'd like.

I could count on both hands the number of times I have heard the DPRK say they have scrapped the Armistice, just to be at the bargaining table the next week at the drop of a few bags of rice. The leader of the DPRK may have changed, but the government is still largely the same. Kim Jong Un is the overall leader of the DRPK and makes the vast majority of the decisions, but he is only as legitimate as his government allows him to be. He has to put on the same old dog an pony show in order to stay in power and in favor of the elite. His survival as the leader of the DPRK rests on confrontation with S.Korea and the US. If peace were ever obtained, he would loose power completely because there would be no use for him. The only people to blame for the plight of the N,Koreans would be the government and not the evil imperialist Americans and their puppets, the S.Koreans. And behind the scenes, the Chinese use the N.Koreans as testing ground for US resolve in Asia. Letting the N.Koreans off the leash just for a little bit to see how the Americans react to conflict in the region before pulling them back in again. You could think of N.Korea as China's crash test dummy for any collision of powers in Asia.

"What's that got to do with anything?
"???

What the **** are you nuts are something? When was the last time China voted with the UN to sanction NK?Do you think that its just a coincidence that when a nuke goes off 40 miles from their border they decide that it would be time for a sanction?

Mountains??Plenty of mountains along the Canadian border, both sides. How about if they decided to pop a nuke are three? You OK with that as well?

No I wouldn't be OK with North Korea nuking the US-Canadian border, did you feel compelled to ask that for any reason?

As for when's the last time China voted for sanctions on North Korea, it was 5 days ago.

And no I don't think its a coincidence that right after NK blows a nuke that China votes for sanctions, I think its pretty damn obvious what the reasons for those sanctions were, the damn nuke blast.

Do you have any other stupid questions

Kim Jong Un is the kind of kid who, after receiving any kind of criticism, goes home and puts his hamster in the microwave.

That kind of makes me mad.

I wasn't talking about "North Korea nuking the US-Canadian border "I was talking about what would we/US government do if they/Canucks decided to pop a few nukes 40 miles north of our border.

That's what i was referring to with this question.

So what were you referring to with this?

When and if i do, i know where i will get the stupidest answers on DP.:2wave:

Just another round of North Korea yelling:

'Look at me!'

Hope you are right...This will be true until it isn't.

The newly elected South Korean President made some crack about taking out NK's leadership if they tried to strike.

And this - along with the joint US-South Korean maneuvers that are going on until the 25th - are almost certainly what perpetrated this remark from the North.

The thread is nothing.
