White House threatens Bob Woodward

Should he have had a 1 hour shouting match with that official concerning his statements?

There wouldn't have been any reason to as he was never threatened to begin with.

and you are still unable to POINT OUT THE THREAT

a threat ? Oh hell no there's no threat.

A reporter being told " your'e going to regret ...." anything by a top WH official when he posted a true story is a non-issue.

Completely a non issue. I mean if Rumsfeld had said the same to Woodward or even if Cheney had said something you guys would be here, denouncing Woodwards claim and sticking up for the high level WH official right ?

If it was just an isolated incident it can be rightfully shrugged off but there has been many examples of threats intimidation and suppression to the media by this white house

On one hand, we have a guy that tells us he felt threatened.

On the other, we have an email between the two parties. In this email, the person that later claims he was threatened tried to downplay his concerns to the party he feels threatened him.

I’m sorry, but that you accept one piece of info exclusively is obvious confirmation bias.
What we have is Woodward saying one thing in an email and another thing on Fox News.

I'm a million miles away from this, but it would depend on what he would get to make him feel regret. Mostly, this doesn't make Woodward look so good, unless we get a fuller picture of the shouting match.

As long as it sells the Washington Post, it's all good.

I don't recall ever hearing Bob Woodward say that he regretted anything.

Might have happened, but I don't recall it.

Maybe he'll end up regretting what he said recently.

Me, I'm not worried about it.

Well, considered his response back the the WH read like he's saying, "No harm done; no worries, mate." I'd say, he had no problem with it until he saw an opportunity to drum up some controversy.

BTW: Since when are Right Wingers big defenders of the free press? Must be something new because you guys went bananas in 2003 &4 when any journalist said anything negative about Bush-Cheney and the folly called invading Iraq.

Hyperbole much?

exactly. the two things are in conflict.

and you choose to believe which one?

rolls eyes right back at you

Things have changed since then.

Now the President is Obama.

Ooh ooh! The email!

This is fun, ask another question!

Why does the left here ignore that a journalist was called and yelled at by a top BO advisor for telling the truth ?

Why do some (Not all.) people on the right try to make something out of nothing?

Any ideas?

In the end, I'm putting the odds near 0 that Woodward gets invited back to the White House in his capacity as a journalist.

He'll be back.

Wait and see.

There appear to be some on the right who are showing a bit of embarrassment for jumping into the conflict too early, once they had a chance to read the emails

Conservatives Regret Taking Woodward's 'Threat' Story Seriously | TPM LiveWire

Politico on Thursday posted the emails between Woodward and White House economic adviser Gene Sperling, who told Woodward, "as a friend, I think you will regret staking out that claim."

"Looks like we were played," The Daily Caller's Matt Lewis wrote Thursday morning.

RedState editor Erick Erickson was also surprised after reading the emails:

The Washington Examiner's Byron York agreed:
People who made big deal of this got played

Fox News political analyst Brit Hume tweeted that it is hard to imagine feeling threatened by Sperling:

Keith Urbahn, Donald Rumsfeld's former chief of staff, tweeted:
Vintage Woodward: Cherry pick a friendly exchange, make it sinister & vault himself into the media, Did it with Rummy in State of Denial

ok. do you agree you are guilty of confirmation bias?

Lol.... wut? Confirmation bias? Confirmation bias demands that the sources be ambiguous. There is nothing ambiguous about the e-mail. It wasn't a threat.

the source is ambiguous. If a boss asks a women out and then informs her she will regret her decision, the issue of harassment is ambiguous.

Woodward claims he was threatened.

I would like to hear an explanation for why he did not mention this threat in his reply, and instead did it later.

That is the real issue. But to immediately denounce his feelings shows confirmation bias.

That Woodward feels threatened is a completely subjective response, but when a senior WH official tells you that you will regret something, he or she generally means it.

Woodward doesn't strike me as a guy who scares easy.

He'll be back to the White House.

Come on, man. Do you seriously have any doubt about who is running the show at the WH? Do you seriously think a "senior" person in the WH would have the balls to say something like this on his own?

Or that they know that Iraq has nukes

Oh wait!!

Woodward is just trying to sell newspapers and himself.

Nothing new here.

I heard the WH didn't know that someone dissed Bob Woodward. And Obama knew nothing about releasing those illegal immigrants from prison either.

Everyone believes what they want to believe.

That's why this whole conversation is pretty much a total waste of time.

nothing wrong with personal beliefs.

I would like to see some more details though if that's OK with you.
