White House threatens Bob Woodward

please. POINT OUT THE THREAT
do that

show us that there was actually a threat
only then will you have posted anything worthy of reading

You will "regret" ....

From a top level WH official to a reporter.

Lannie Davis seems to think he was threatened also.

You would only justify this for BO, I would condemn it no matter who was in the WH.

Its the difference between you and me, Liberals and Conservatives.

Truth matters to me more than my ideology.

I'm just wondering out loud.

I stand by Woodward. You guys elected a incompetent thug, its not Woodwards fault.

And the rest of us are paying for it.

still waiting on you to POINT OUT THE THREAT

still waiting on you to POINT OUT THE THREAT

Lol....you guys are desperate.

I mean behind all of this is still a shrinking economy and a exploding debt.

And a lying President.

Lanny Davis(Washington Times) and Ron Fournier(National Journal) have come out and stated that they've had run ins with White House personnel as well, on the same basic point.

David Jackson of USA Today also wrote an article that stated the same point: "We know more than a few reporters have received similar e-mails from White House officials. Yelling has also been known to happen."

New sequester battle: Woodward vs. White House

If you ask me, it sounds like the White House is full of a bunch of babies that whine and cry when the press doesn't toe the line.

Makes you wonder how many more have received threats that haven't or who aren't willing to come out.

Why is the White House calling the media personally to say a story is wrong?

Because false claims should be debunked.

/thread.

The fact is that Woodward is right and has the facts to back it up. His probable 'regret' is that he will lose access to the White House.

Except Woodward wasn't threatened by any senior official in any convincing way. Which is pretty much the meat and potatoes of his claim.

You plan on taking Reuters to task now for possibly mucking up the story?

If I had as many ignorant misconceptions about how the media works as the average American, I probably would. However, I work in media. So I don't have a reason to. This story was made up by Bob Woodward. He was never threatened no matter how much he claims he was. It was a simple exchange between people who've known each other for a while and seem to be friends.

Should he have had a 1 hour shouting match with that official concerning his statements? That seems to me to be the more obvious idiocy in this chain of events.

White House grants access to reporters
Reporters put out information White House doesn't like
White House blows their lid and bitches at reporter.

In the end, I'm putting the odds near 0 that Woodward gets invited back to the White House in his capacity as a journalist.

no. can you post some link from someone claiming he was?

So. he wasn't jailed or prevented from doing his job by the White House in anyway. Also, in an email exchange, it's pretty clear that although harsh words were spoken, no one really felt threatened or coerced in anyway. In fact, Woodward actually goes on to tell the WH that he understands that heated conversation is just part of the business:

You do not ever have to apologize to me. You get wound up because you are making your points and you believe them. This is all part of a serious discussion.

So tell me again how exactly is Obama behaving like a dictator here?

Methinks its just more nonsense, like that Birth Certificate crap, hoisted upon us by the Far Right. No smoke nor fire.

And when Woodward came down on Nixon and Bush, he was a liar, but now his word is good as gold?

I don't particularly doubt him on any of it. However, it's always funny that when a reporter is putting down "your guy" he's wrong, but when he's putting down "the other guy" he's an oracle of truth.

Yep! That's exactly how the Obamabots are acting. Great observation.

Another case of headline skimming run amok. The letter from Sperling contained a whole lotta' nothing in the way of threatening or aggressive language.

Would you please translate? I won't pretend I know. :)

"Quid est quod ipse est". = He is what he is.

Bob Woodward peaked early in life.

He has gone downhill since Watergate.

"Measurable cerebral activity is virtually absent" from his books after Watergate sez Joan Didion

Woodward makes a lot of stuff up.

I take whatever the guy says with several grains of salt.

So it's down to "measurably cerebral activity," is it? :3oops:

On one hand, we have a guy that tells us he felt threatened.

On the other, we have an email between the two parties. In this email, the person that later claims he was threatened tried to downplay his concerns to the party he feels threatened him.

I’m sorry, but that you accept one piece of info exclusively is obvious confirmation bias.

so, threatened he wrote this in reply:there was no threat. lots of embarrassment on woodward's part, however

Don't try to confuse the issue by introducing facts.

I was certain there was a squid in there somewhere. I took Latin back when it was still a living language, and subsequently noted that it wasn't in wide use in the construction industry anymore. I would note that when one hits a journalistic home run early in one's career, there's always a crowd looking for one every time afterwards, and anything less is a disappointment. Spoiled people, those folks. That in no way diminishes the veracity of his comments regarding the sequester. That Woodward feels threatened is a completely subjective response, but when a senior WH official tells you that you will regret something, he or she generally means it.

Is the left actually trying to impune the integrity of Bob Woodward ?

You probably meant to say 'impugn'. Check a dictionary.

Who ever said that Bob Woodward had any integrity?

What is most scary is we are seeing a President suppressing a right granted by the constitution by threats and intimidation, and by suppressing that right he was able to remain in power
this is not an isolated incident there has been more then 1 report about threats and intimidation from the white house there has been 3 others 2 from today, just look what they have done to Fox News

democracy does not work unless the media is allowed to do their job
