Michelle Obama surprises Oscars by presenting Best Picture award

Laura Bush had her say on the Oscars when she was fisrt lady. And two presidents have also been part of the Oscars. And remember where Ronald Reagan came from.

Danville Illinois? Yeah but he was nowheres close to the Magnificent Mile

Of them all, POTUS and FLOTUS, Ronnie was the only one ever to have a legitimate cause to be a part of the Oscars and the Hollywood kiss-assery. He was president of the screen acters and had worked for years to make the industry strong.

The lovely and gracious Michelle was invited to give the award because they mistakenly thought that horrible movie "Lincoln" would win Best Picture and, as we all know, Obama is Lincoln.

Well, not to mention Speilberg Produced the Movie.....just sayin!

Hmm, considering I have no clue who won Best Picture, actor or WTF-ever, I'm wondering, did any one here watch the Oscars? Has anyone here watched one in the past dozen years or so?

Just curious.

Yep. I did. Lots of people did. Seth McFarland was more than a bit outrageous and (in my opinion) wicked funny.

Good show overall. Very creative.....

Thanks. The last one I clearly remember seeing was when Tootsie went up against Ghandi. I must have seen others since then, but they don't ring any bells.

As i recall those movies were in B&W.

(It has been a while for you.....)

I'm new here and I must admit I'm somewhat shocked. I thought this was a site for real debate. I can't believe that these Obama haters have some much of nothing to complain about then to gripe about Mrs. Obama appearing on a tv show. Why would you even care. It is sooooooo petty. Other presidents and First Ladies have done it. Why quibble over such minior issues. It not degrading of the position it was done tastefully and it didn't cost much if anything to do. WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL??????? Can the Obama haters find nothing else to witch about?

It was reported they asked her.

She should have said no. She has nothing to do with the Hollywood crowd and she had no place presenting that award, or any award.

Did Laura Bush present the Best Picture award?

You can have your opinion but the reason they asked her to do it is she is tight with the Hollywood crowd. That never would have happened with a Republican first lady. You can't argue that point.

So when Laura Bush was asked to do a TV show she was also wrong to accept? Or is it just Michelle Obama who has to live up to unwritten/un-realistic rules made by republicans.

A far more innocent time. First Ladies were hardly noticeable and Jessica Lang was still really hawt.

Proof that people can whine and cry about anything. I would be embarrassed to be so ****ing petty.
It might also shock you that a lot of people who make comments like this and other blatantly racist remarks are actually black themselves. Michelle Obaa's appearance is one of their favorite derisions. I speak from experience.

Welcome chase.

Threads like this are like train wrecks. We are all guilty to a certain extent of not being able to turn our heads.

There is productive debate to be had on this site. You will just have to recognize who has the intellectual ability to engage. Never respond directly to nonsense if you can avoid it.

Thanks for the welcome 66. I probably won't respond to too much just yet. I'm still trying to get a feel for the flow here. I. Still trying to figure out who is who and where people stand. I don't want to just jump in and start throwing my opinions out there blindly. But I just couldn't hold back anymore after reading some of the post here. It's so frivolous. The women did nothing distastefully. She is and will always be a very classy lady and she handled/handles herself well. If her last name wasn't Obama they would have nothing to say about it.

Thanks again.

Nah, it's not a shock to those who know all about them Both. Especially with Chicago. Although many don't really reflect racism. Rather most are about them being Hypocrites. ;)

It could be worse, she could have presented her husband with the Nobel Prize for Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:2wave:

But you do not deny those type of comments are being made by black folks.

You are quite welcome Chase.

I meant what I said about black folks mostly making those types of comments. I personally do not get it myself. Are these proud people ashamed of their race? It is perplexing but real nonetheless.

One day I will tell how I know, but trust me on this.

Nobody needs legitimate cause to be part of the Oscars if they are invited to do so. What is this, the Oscar-Nazi Thread?

... I wondered into that lame part of DP again. 15 pages of people complaining about the First Lady, who's job is to essentially do PR, doing PR.

The funny thing, probably 75% of them are black themselves.

Well, I do recall someone saying that obama is an light-skinned black man with no negro dialect unless he wanted to have one.
I thought that was pretty racist.
Why? Are you black?

Actually there is some great video evidence confirming the bolded. Speaking to a (church?) group in the deep south 5-6 years ago. Don't see where there is anything "racist" about it. But it is sort of funny to listen to.

Re: "Well, I do recall someone saying that obama is an light-skinned black man with no negro dialect unless he wanted to have one. I thought that was pretty racist."

I do not find it racist either. It is simply an observation and facts.

Oh not at all.....as they have no problem calling him or her out to answer up with what he or she says out of their mouths and with the actual way they was around here. One has to wonder why so many of his own people in Chicago talk Chit about him. Democrats, liberals, and Progressives. I mean we know those who are flat out against him will. But hearing all these people that supported him. Now that's another thing.
