Convicting a person because they are an "asshole" is not reasonable.

Convicting a person on hearsay evidence is not reasonable.

Is it worth it to make the level of proof of murder less airtight for everyone in order to put one bad person away?
 
Alot of parents should sleep easier. He almost got married again to another poor fool before they threw him in jail. Can you imagine if that was your daughter?
 
The guy got his just desserts. For those whining about his Rights being violated. just think this: He's as "innocent" as OJ.

Yet another 'expert' with no access to court records, evidence, investigative notes, nor testimony who knows the real truth.

Yeah.....they just look at Peterson. I wanted the chump to get his just desserts too. But not at the expense of the Court System to be able to railroad someone thru under Conviction thru Testimony of.....well this person told me so and so, and not have any shread of evidence.

The Coroner who testified after they resumed the body of Salvio was an absolute joke.

Two successive wives of his died and/or disappeared. Sometimes a duck really is a duck.

If a jury could find OJ innocent because a cop lied and said the word "nigger" a thousand times, then a jury could have acquitted this dooshbag too. But, they didn't. Don't you wonder why?

TD is a attorney or former one and I would like to hear him weigh on this.

Yeah IMO, try the coverage over the case and the embellishing by the media. Peterson playing on it with his end too. Then the attorneys. You do know now Peterson will appeal. It will end up going to the Illinois Supreme Court. That's if the Appellate doesn't smack it down for any thing first. There are a bunch of loopholes the state has left with this case.

Now what will people feel like if it all gets turned over and then Peterson is freed. Due to technicalities of law and state going outside the boundaries of those laws. Not only would he walk but then he will have a case against the state.

Maybe he dies in prison. He is an ex-cop. Right?
 
I'm all for people getting what they deserve in relation to murder, but this one here doesn't make much sense.

Not only that, but it sets precedent that hearsay is evidence for Capital Murder. That is premeditated murder, and usually comes with a mountain of evidence to prove without a shadow of a doubt that the person did it.

I understand emotions can get in the way, but you cannot sit there and believe that hearsay would get a person a First Degree Murder charge. We already wrongly convict people in this country, and what this case does sets the table for more regardless of Peterson's guilt.

I would pay attention to the appeals court for this case.

Well considering the Max Joints in Illinois are Stateville, Pontiac, and Menard.....and he is not going there. I don't think there will be any assisting him in the endeavor. As I hear it he going to a Med/Min. joint. Which would be those who will be getting out or moving to do so. So I doubt he will have any problems there. Unless he has some sort of medical problems. I am not sure of his age either.

He's 58 years old. According to the Tribune this morning, he has high blood pressure, high cholesterol and borderline diabetes. He called himself an obnoxious man on the stand. That's most certainly part of the reason he was convicted. I can only imagine what kind of cop he made. They sure missed something in his psych tests.

Thanks Maggie.....There is no doubt and that's the easier test to take I might add.....my brother and his buddy went to become state boyz. His buddy was a Riverdale Cop already and had been on the force for over 5 yrs. He failed the State Police Psych test.

Another thing is Peterson has money and plenty of it to get his case in the Appellate and Supreme Court. IMO the SA that pushed this case with the court should also have to come to bear. As they looked for any means to bring Peterson down.

It is truly amazing that the State will reopen the John Wayne Gacy case over that past history and missing bodies, as well as Gacy dying in prison. Yet they cannot put these people out onto a case where Petersons 3rd wife is missing. Or to discover real evidence to bring Peterson down.

I know all about juries. I also know all about scumbags who kill their wives. All too often juries make the wrong call. Not this time though.

Oh, don't think they're not working on that because they are. And, just FYI, it's his fourth wife that's missing.
 
IMO good riddance to bad rubbish! That said I hope the state had i s dotted and t s crossed.
I'd hate to hear that he's out on the street due to misconduct.:eek:

Well this guy was a Cop.....and the book should have been thrown against him for Premeditated Murder. But one can see the Judge didn't even give him such a sentence. Which says something in itself. The Judge knows this is going to the higher court. So he knows the state is lacking.
