girl gets boot from Catholic football league

Two things you're forgetting - that's a general statement you made, and there are exceptions. Not all football positions require the largest mass/most strength.

No, but all positions are going to be influenced by physical characteristics directly impacted by the effects of sexual hormones, like testosterone. Hell, Even your blood cell count and endurance are directly influenced by testosterone.

Agree. I don't have a problem with a female playing a sport, whether it be violent or not, that is dominated by males. However, when kids are young, there needs to be some common sense rules governing their safety. For football, the rules should be age and weight based, and that should be good enough.

#1) This isn't about "some day the boys will be bigger and stronger and possibly hurt her". This is about right here and right now. While she's excelling at her position.

#2) This isn't about boys are gonna start groping her someday.

#3) This isn't about "what if she gets hurt - her parents will probably sue." (so damned stupid, like parents of a hurt boy wouldn't sue...)

I do think the story regarding the boy who wanted to play field hockey on the girls team should have been allowed to play. Assuming he was good enough to make the team.

Seems really sad, and idiotic, and completely sexist to say a boy that's not as good at football as this girl has more right to play than she does simply because he has a penis.

But that's the way the CC does things at it's highest levels so I'm not shocked.

What do you expect.. she is a second class citizen just above gays in the eyes of the Catholic Church and most religions. After all she got no balls, hence she must be defective and needs protection......

Apparently everything was going along well until she insisted on wearing a burka during the next home game.

I knew that was part of it, but I admit, Christian theological history was not previously my forte, though it is becoming more interesting to me the more I have been reading Monastical histories during the Middle Ages.

It's not all of it though.

St. Thomas of Aquinas also referred to Mary Magdalene as the apostle of the apostles. Women were highly respected for being the ones who actually stuck around when the **** went flying, so to speak. Aquinas gets part of his seemingly contradictory views on women from Aristotle, the views that hold women in higher regard come from a theological standpoint in his theory of the rational soul. At least that's how I understand it from briefly looking into it. I don't know if it really interests me enough to look into it further at this point but if it does with you I recommend getting the whole picture.

Whoa - nor am I a Catholic theologian myself.

I have done some research on women as priests, and it helps having an Aunt who has been a Sister of Charity for 55 years!

But perhaps each choice doesn't necessitate that it cannot or must not be, but rather a choice was made.

And only having male apostles? Another coincidence?

It's silly for sure. She can play at that level, at least for now, and should be allowed to compete. However, this isn't new. Boys aren't allowed to play on girls teams. Remember about a year ago that boy that wasn't allowed to play with the girls field hockey team?

How many of you jumping up and down here excused that case?

All of the ones that bare their teeth when they hear the word "Catholic".

Did you know that the Jews were the only civilization to not have women priests?

Another fact for those claiming that the Church is misogynistic. When Jesus was crucified, the apostles ran away (except for John), and Peter denied Jesus 3 times. Where were the women? They were at the foot of the cross. If you think the Church is sexist, then you don't understand Holy Mother Church.

I did not, but it does not surprise me at all.

They want boys only, huh? So, what else is new?

Yeah, I was waiting for that shoe to drop at some point......

Why do the homosexuals and atheists post thread after thread attacking Christianity? Why do they hate that others have a faith and happiness that they themselves lack?

Religious people are happier than non-religious people? Citation?

What do homosexuals and atheists have to do with this girl playing football?

Nothing. It's just an angle to continually play the "I'm a victim" card.

Girl wins fight to play youth football - CNN.com

VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!

Philadelphia (CNN) -- Caroline Pla just won her fight to get back on the field.

Pla has been playing football since kindergarten, and for the past two years, the 11-year-old has been holding her own on the gridiron.

Her playing time with the Catholic Youth Organization ended after last season when the Archdiocese of Philadelphia enforced its "boys only" policy for football, sidelining the All-Star guard and defensive end.
