Mine is more of a bit o' agoraphobia. Too many people in too small a space.

Wah. Had to sleep outside? Had to crap in bags? It stunk? Sounds like a deployment to me.

Took less than two days for the first lawsuit to be filed.

Sorry, but after reading many articles on this, I still just don't get the "horrific" point of it. Folks sitting on the deck all day instead of....uh...sitting on the deck all day. Sure it had to have been inconvenient, and not-so-luxurious, but c'mon people. The Mayflower folks would laugh at their "hardships." The millions of fish below the ship laugh at their little red bags. I heard some [donkey orifice] compare this "disaster" to Katrina. Seriously? I'm pretty sure that these people'll be able to get home to their unlimited creature comforts, and all their belongings will still be intact.

The way those ships are designed peeing over the rail probably lands on someones face on the lower decks.

Folks didn't pay umpteen hundreds of dollars to camp out on the floor of a floating toilet. I'm sure the fear of being on fire at sea or marooned was an enjoyable entertainment addition.

Shat happens.

I totally get the inconvenience of the whole situation, but it's not like they were in any danger. It's not like they lost everything they had, like a tornado victim. The media sensationalized it.

I agree the Media over blows everything but they were in danger somewhat when the fire broke out in the engine room. It was more scary and miserable than dangerous overall. Personally, I'd rather have gone thru what they did than get a dry heaving Norovirus that's commonly contracted on cruises.

The sanitary conditions are a legitimate complaint, and food could have been handled better than 3 & 4 hour lines, but when they start whining about lack of air conditioning they lose me completely. Have we really grown that soft?

This makes me think about what wimps our society has become.

Did anyone die? No?

It just sucked for a couple of days?

Crap happens...its called life.

That people should be able to sue because a ship they were riding on broke down is mind boggling.

Soldiers endure worse conditions ALL THE TIME, we don't get to sue, some times we even get rewarded with a stop loss.

If your plane had mechancal difficulties, set down in the middle of butt freaking nowhere and kept you onboard and in squallor for countless days - I'd sue, too . . . because there's 'normal problems' and then there's a 'horrific really ****ed up situation' - plane passengers were trapped onboard for over 8 hours and we came up with the passenger's bill of rights.

What I don't get is why they didn't just ferry people back to the mainland using other boats that were available. . .it was a possibility - they didn't bother? They could have gotten everyone offboard if they REALLY wanted to.

As I heard it described by a passenger, the ship was in rough seas to begin with. The passenger said she felt like they were tilting as much as 45 degrees the first night. Then she watched as the tow ships were going along side them and said it looked very dangerous for them to get next to the ship and it was the same when were getting close to docking. She totally understood why they didn't just load off on another ship.

They were on the deck because the stench, heat and water in their cabins made it uninhabitable.

While it's not a tragedy, thank goodness none were hurt, it was a disgusting ordeal. So I sympathize on that point.

It just reinforces for me, why I will not get on a cruise ship.

As to law suits, this made me laugh too, one of the passengers said her husband had been on that ship a month ago and they had lost power. Then her daughter got on this same ship 2 weeks ago, they couldn't make it to Cozumel because of...a power issue. This woman still got on this ship, figuring the problem had been fixed.

1. That was really dumb of her.
2. Carnival had to be aware of a potential problem and still the ship failed. Terrific grounds for a lawsuit.

Heard on the radio a couple days ago that Carnival has one of the worst records when it comes to negative incidents, while Royal Caribbean has one of the best records. Too lazy to verify right now, but it does seem to me that when something happens I hear Carnival's name most often.

Seems to me, if you're gonna cruise, choose your cruise liner accordingly.
