Women delivering newspapers in Torrance shot in manhunt for ex-cop - latimes.com

Two women who were shot by Los Angeles police in Torrance early Thursday during a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer were delivering newspapers, sources said.

...

A second shooting, involving Torrance police officers, occurred about 5:45 a.m. at Flagler Lane and Beryl Street in Torrance. No injuries were reported in that incident.

So LAPD has managed to shoot up 2 vehicles and injured 2 civilians in this manhunt but in neither case was the suspect present.

Really?

Is this really tolerable? Is this what the current gun paranoia has developed into? It's absolutely pathetic that the cops are so ridiculously trigger happy and if I were a black adult (or even tall kid) in LA right now I'd batten down the hatches because these bastards have apparently gone off their rocker.

I don't think it is much gun paranoia as it is cop killer parnoia, right?

This guy really has shooked up the whole region. This will end up in a shootout.

I don't care how paranoid you are. When you are a cop who is supposed to be enforcing the law and serving to protect the population you had damned well better be able to hold off on unloading 20+ rounds into the back of a pickup before you identify a legitimate threat.

They shot up two innocents and the guy they were looking for wasn't even present?

Tsk, tsk. Looks like somebody needs a long stint of paid leave followed by reassignment to a desk job. Might even consider docking their pay to cover the cost of the bullets, but we wouldn't want to resort to such extreme measures until after the internal investigation is finished.

I hope every one of those cops go to jail for attempted murder and LAPD finally goes under the direct control of DoJ until they finally clean house starting with the police chief who every time he opens his mouth sounds crooked. Because there is ZERO justification for firing into a vehicle without identifying your target - NONE. Dorner may be crazy, but he is exactly right about the culture of corruption and lawlessness that exists in many of our nation's law enforcement agencies.

My irony meter just exploded like a nuke at the concept of Eric Holder running the LAPD from Washington.

Just end it. The police here are not protecting anything. They're more interested in raising revenue for the city. Good luck calling LAPD for a robbery or invasion. They'll show up 20 minutes later

Just collateral damage.

Sarcasm Alert for the irony impaired.

Outrageous and unacceptable.

Again.
