Speaking of the need for better research, None of the above bureaus keep any sort of tabs on the Misery index, , those who do will demonstrate that it never so much as sniffed the 30 range as you claimed earlier. Swing and a miss all around.

Actually your constant whine about books vs 'street smarts' is passe. I was everywhere from jungle to street for most my adult life. I didn't read about it, I lived it. THIS recession is far deeper with a much bigger trigger than the 80's one.
What happened is the nation went from a creditor state to a debtor state back in the 80's. The GOP spend our grandkids future for quick infusions of money to 'trickle down' on the Middle Class.
We now reap the whirlwind sown back in the 'good ol' days'.

It really is hard dealing with such an expert as you, someone who didn't work during the 81-82 recession and is so brainwashd that they will not even do any proper research. The comparison between the two recession is there to see, you choose to believe what you are told and ignore the fact that you just come be wrong just like a lot of other people

Logging is dependent on housing starts, very few housing starts means very little logging. I blame obama for keeping the economy thus housing starts in the toilet.

the debt in the 80's was 1.7 trillion in 8 years, Obama has run up almost 6 trillion in four.

The average individual's finances weren't blown to bits. Simple as that.
The data plainly supports it. Those who know their behind from a hole in the ground recognize this immediately. Maybe you're just not one of those people?

I love the way 'conservatives' play off their reckless spending as minor and then claim the Dem is arbitrarily running up the debt. :roll:
The increase in spending now is due to the massive collapse of our economy. not due to war, disease or in the 80's case, a deliberate decision to borrow money claiming it will 'trickle down'. This collapse was caused by reckless private sector speculation with little government interference- love it when 'conservatives' cry about Big Gubmint yet our collapses are from a lack of government. :doh
But once again you just spray and pray, I am not some book worm so that slur is useless, now the 'depends' on government because of poor personal choices...
In 1986 my wife and I had $3500 in the bank. Today 20 times that in the bank, and that isn't our stocks and bonds but cash money as the guys at the COOP say. Our net worth is conservatively 100Xs that.
Land and cattle dude, a ranch from literally nothing.
So stifle the talk radio slurs, attacking me and my life doesn't bolster your argument, it shows your ignorance. Well better shows it...

Have you ever been in a leadership position? What leadership has Obama showed that has improved the economy? There is the basic difference between Obama and Reagan. Reagan understood and practiced great leadership skills implementing a pro growth economic policy. Compare that to Obama and you will understand why this is the worst recovery in history.

Govt spending now is similar to govt spending in the past only much more, it has to be paid for by taxes which takes money out of the people's pockets.

What dramatically changed from the S&L collapse and this one is the financial leaders learned a valuable lesson. Use the election bribe called campaign contributions in Congress to push the agenda of ending 'stifling Gubmint red-tape'! (Others call it firewalls to prevent just what happened) What they did was simple, remove the regs that snared the S&L managers and invent new areas to play with other people's money outside the regulators. Oh yeah, and reduce the regulators in number and authority.
Too big to jail started with BushII, the bail-out for corporations started with BushII.

Irrelevant. Your claim was simply incorrect yet again. Peak to trough job losses positively dwarfed the 81/82 figures. No amount of diversion will change that fact.
