Report of blast at Iran nuke facility unconfirmed

Interesting. This bears watching. Lots of potential ramifications.

If I were any sort of leader in any nation that has publicly stated opposition to Israel, I would watch my back. Those guys are bold. I have to give them that. Even if they didn't do this, they still have a great rep of being able to get to someone anywhere they please. See the Dubai assassination a few years back.

My guess is that somebody screwed up trying to build a warhead or something. I don't think Israel has anything conventional even remotely capable of taking out a deep bunker unless there was a serious design flaw with a straight down shaft and got lucky.

Um...

I do not wish to see nuclear weapons in the hands of the Iranian Government...

But did anyone read the first two sections of the article...

A report claiming that a mysterious blast rocked the Fordow uranium enrichment facility in Iran last week made headlines in Israel on Sunday, but remained unverified.

According to the report, penned by former Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Reza Kahlili, for the WND.com website, the explosion “destroyed much of the installation and trapped about 240 personnel deep underground.”

Yeah... gonna need to see this from a mainstream source.

By the way...

Mysterious blast... :lamo

Are the writers implying He Who Must Not Be Named is involved...

In reading some of the related articles, the bet seems to be on sabotage....Very cool....James Bond stuff.

Agreed, I wonder if Israel was behind it, or us.....

Assuming the report is accurate, Israel would be the odds on favorite. The big question would be wether we had prior knowledge, or if they did not let us know in advance.

That would be an excellent question, and one that would highlight whether or not they still trust us.

Let's please keep not directly on topic discussion about Israel out of this thread. Such discussions belong in ME section.

Everything I have read indicates that the US promised Israel that we would take out their facilities if it got to that point to stop Israel from striking a couple years ago before these deep bunkers were brought online. Israel does not have the capabilities to take out deep bunkers by air, and it would take US help for them to strike that far from home by air anyway. Whatever happened, happened in that bunker IMHO.

Well, haarerz agrees with your skepticism....

Who spread reports of an 'explosion' at Iran's Fordow nuclear plant and why? - Israel News | Haaretz Daily Newspaper

I too, am trying to find more mainstream sourcing.....If none, then I will have to conclude that we will just have to wait and see.

As soon as I saw WND, I just closed the tab.

Mossad agents are actually trained to bullseye womp rats in their T-16s, and those aren't much bigger than two meters.

Haaretz isn't going to do it.

Not too keen on the people trapped underground, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Be glad if the Iranian nuclear program was damaged...

Sources are just too flimzy for me mate.

Need definitive proof.

One guy telling World Net Daily just isn't going to cut it.

Mighta seemed that way, I'd been out for a few drinks at that point .

Institute for Science and International Security › ISIS Reports › Iran › Day after Alleged Sabotage at Fordow: Hardly the Expected Emergency Response

visible exterior signs of damage, ISIS observed no intensified activity in the form of emergency or cleanup vehicles that one would expect to see around the site in the wake of an incident of this magnitude (figure 1). The lack of clarity at very high magnification does leave some doubt on whether a set of three white marks near one of the entrances of the southernmost tunnel could indeed be three vehicles. However, an emergency response would be expected to have been prompt and to have involved many more vehicles
I looks like WND had some faulty information

The last thing heard from that facility was "What does this big red button do?".
