BBC News - Alabama civil rights pioneer James Hood dies at 70

this guy helped change the future for black people in the US. He was subjected to death threats, verbal abuse etc all for wanting to further his education he never faltered, reacted he just kept on turning up to school and he forced a huge change for the future of young black people. RIP Mr Hood you are an inspiration.

I wonder what he'd think of people walking around with their pants sagging to their knees.

RIP, James Hood. thoughts, prayers, and best wishes to his family.

One of the few public men that could speak with absolutely undeniable authority about the importance of education.

This isn't even a thing anymore.

One of those heroes nobody remembers until they die. Tremendous guts, just for the sake of a principle.

Sure they do and yes it does--it is a metaphor for something larger.

And not longer after he went back to Michigan because he didn't let the political reality interfere with the personal goal.
