Additions to be made to gun laws for law enforcement

Re: Cuomo goes stupid again!

Do I need to tell you how much I'd enjoy seeing an amendment fail?

Re: Cuomo goes stupid again!

If a 7 round magazine limit is good enough for citizens then they most definitely should be good enough for law enforcement.

After all, law enforcement will only have to face criminals who obey the 7 round limit.

Re: Cuomo goes stupid again!

Oh, THIS is rich...

The Patrolman's Benevolent Association President released a statement saying, "The PBA is actively working to enact changes to this law that will provide the appropriate exemptions from the law for active and retired law enforcement officers."

And RETIRED police officers should be exempted from a mag limit that citizens have to suffer with WHY?

C'mon they are the same types as those off duty officers that drive like race car drivers when off duty. They are special

Silly Goshin. The law doesn't apply to police!

Oh yes, citizens suffer so, why engage in hyperbole? As long as the 'gun' lovers engage in such tripe, to include the Leader of the Free World's children have guards, they will always seem too shrill for moderate citizens.

What some more ardent 2nd A 'defenders' refuse to accept is a COMMISSIONED Law Enforcement Officer IS different from the rest of us. If the LEO was any good at his job by the time he does his 20 years, his Rolodex is filled with people that he sent to prison for varying lengths of time. Most are not the forgive and forget type.

Tell ya what, lets rephrase the exemption- ANYONE who can document 20+ years of working to take bad guys off the street and have committed no crime to bar them from firearm ownership, will be provided proper documentation and can have more than 7 rounds in his mag... :2wave:

Bud, I didn't do 20 years but I AM an ex-cop, and I'm here to tell you "Commissioned Law Enforcement Officer" is NOT a magical brand of excellence, character, judgement or competence.

If a RETIRED cop, who isn't out on the street anymore, might need more than 7 rounds then a citizen might too.

The POINT is that you ought to have a damn good reason to infringe on a fundamental right in the first place, and the retired-cop-exemption proves this new Cuomo law is bull****.

How the **** are they supposed to shoot at a suspect 67 times hitting him 4 times if they are limited to 7 round clips?

I know you did some time as a cop. I know you didn't do 20. I never said it is some magical brand so quit putting words in my text!

Now you can argue all you want but a retired cop has a LOOOOONG list of bad people who have a grudge directly against them. Deny all you want, anyone who has a few retired cops as buddies knows different.

What makes me smile is most subcompacts for concealed carry have restricted mags due to the need to conceal.

There you go again, hyperbole. Infringe? ALL Rights have limits put on them.

All Presidents since Nixon have been in favor or enacted 'infringements'.

Don't like a newly passed law? Take it to court, like 'infringement' on abortions many 'conservatives' placed, or ordinances forcing landowners to be ICE.

But again I'm all for ANYONE who can document spending 20 years of taking bad guys off the street getting the exemption... ;)

Re: Cuomo goes stupid again!

Retired PO's are allowed to CC too.
In any jurisdiction, in the US.

And so it should be with any citizen who has a CCW issued by any state.

Cops are of the class known as "citizen", just like you and me... not some special social class with special privileges, like "landed knights". This isn't the middle ages, with an armsman class that has privileges the "peasants" do not.

Unfortunately is it now.
I agree, a valid CC permit in one state, should be recognized in all states.
I mean if retired police can, we should be able to as well.

The retired PO CC, is a federal law too.
It's an exemption of any state or local law.

Hey, there's a bright side to this. With a 7 round limit, they'll have to high more LEO's so they can have enough bullets to pump that many into a perp. The unemployment rate with drop like a rock.

Re: Cuomo goes stupid again!

They probably want ex-LE to be able to have more rounds because they are the ones who will be providing private protection services for the rich and famous who are not Secret Service worthy.

This is what cracks me up about all these politicians wanting so called high capacity magazine bans and so called assault weapon bans. We know damn well that none of the security guards, police escorts, secrete service or anyone else that these politicians use for security are not being limited to just 7 round magazines and they can easily just go through any hoops they use to make it nearly impossible for the average citizen to get a firearm or concealed carry permit.
