Dozens held after Islamists attack Algerian gas field!!!![W:280]

I was responding to your remarks about turkey and secularism. But the survey also has a section on support for "Harsh Punishment" that certainly raises eyebrows

<<<About eight-in-ten Muslims in Egypt and Pakistan (82% each) endorse the stoning of people who commit adultery; 70% of Muslims in Jordan and 56% of Nigerian Muslims share this view. Muslims in Pakistan and Egypt are also the most supportive of whippings and cutting off of hands for crimes like theft and robbery; 82% in Pakistan and 77% in Egypt favor making this type of punishment the law in their countries, as do 65% of Muslims in Nigeria and 58% in Jordan.

When asked about the death penalty for those who leave the Muslim religion, at least three-quarters of Muslims in Jordan (86%), Egypt (84%) and Pakistan (76%) say they would favor making it the law; in Nigeria, 51% of Muslims favor and 46% oppose it. In contrast, Muslims in Lebanon, Turkey and Indonesia largely reject the notion that harsh punishments should be the law in their countries. About three-quarters of Turkish and Lebanese Muslims oppose the stoning of people who commit adultery (77% and 76%, respectively), as does a narrower majority (55%) of Muslims in Indonesia.

Opposition to whippings and cutting off of hands for crimes like theft and robbery and to the death penalty for people who leave Islam is even more widespread in these three countries; 86% of Muslims in Lebanon, 82% in Turkey and 61% in Indonesia are against making harsh punishments for robbery and theft the law in their countries, and 93%, 91% and 64%, respectively, object to the death penalty against those who leave the Muslim religion.>>>

Classic J-mac.

Any person with a brain knows that we must confront radical Islamism wherever it thrives...

But again, we're against Muslims being painted with a broad brush because of the actions of a few of their nuts.

 Classic Jet....

Any person with a brain knows that Obama gave great lip after the Benghazi murders of our ambassador, but yet turns a slow walking blind eye when the master mind of that attack gives interviews on the open streets of the place where he launched the attack.

But again, we didn't start this war against us by cowards that use intimidation and fear against their own people, hide behind children, behead, torture, and use propaganda that those on the left lap up with their oh so bleeding hearts, and are duped into defending those that are at war with this country, and would thank them for their defense of the warped viewpoint of radicals, then in the same breath raise their sword, and lop the head off in one swing.

Failure to recognize the threat doesn't make one "enlightened" it makes one obtuse. :(

You lost me there.

I lost you there? Really? Let's see, we have now two major terrorist attacks in two different countries by AQ affiliated groups that result in the killing of Americans, and the President's reaction is to NOT do anything of substance, and I lost you? No wonder those who come in here and make arguments that America is the problem, rather than reality, don't have the testicular fortitude to confront the threat to the world that radical Islam presents.

As best I know the guys who did the Benghazi op were an al Quaeda related cell. The raid probably had something to do with retaliation for offing al Awlaki. At one point I heard that locals had outed the cell but I kind of doubt it.

So that makes it ok in your eyes? Why are you making excuses for AQ?

I want to be crystal clear on this. I will NEVER hold a loosely related group of people responsible for the actions of a few from within that group.

Then your own self imposed ignorance is only out done by your willingness to turn a blind eye to the evil within that group.

It's stupid crap like that which starts assault weapon bans.

What? What in the name of all that is good are you talking about here?

No, I'm making fun of the people who think all muslims are violent because a tiny fraction of them are radical. There's a whole lot of xenophobia and hate mongering going on around here. Would you like to join in on it?

No one has said that though...The xenophobia, and hate mongering are taking place in the bowels of the group you seemingly have tossed your hat in with to defend....Congrats.

Really? Ray410, the clown who has brought us such quotes as:

What is the difference between an Islamist and a Muslim?

Why not just come out and say that the terrorist attacks around the world are committed by Muslims?

Everyone knows the truth about the "religion of peace" anyway.

Isn't the xenophobic, hate monger? It's the people who are calling him out and saying that all muslims aren't radical that are the hate mongers?

Damn bro, that's intense.

Well, I think Ray is simply saying that which most people believe today, which is not all muslims are terrorist, but terrorists today seem to be all muslims...I would only place one exception to that which is in the apologist progressive left today which seems to think that we are the terrorists....

Try scraping yourself off the ceiling there, friend.

Obama not doing anything about Benghazi is a totally different issue than the fact that there was an attack. Along with that the issue of whether the attackers were Muslim or not is pretty much immaterial...they were attackers, plain and simple, and needed to be dealt with. We DO NOT need to go in and carpet bomb Libya because 150 jacked up jihadi's took out a CIA compound.

If you don't understand where I was coming from with the AWB comment then you haven't been paying attention.

I'm afraid I have to throw a flag on his one, Dr C.

15 yards for the flagrant use of facts in a thread filled with the regurgitation of platitudes.

... and the President's reaction is to NOT do anything of substance, ...

Nothing of substance? It seems to me that Obama has gone after AQ more aggressively than anyone else. What would be an "of substance" action? I don't think bombing the **** out of Benghazi is the answer. If anything, we need more intelligence operatives on the ground, and more Predators in the air. I don't want to hit just anybody, I want us to beat the **** out of AQ with surgical attacks. Let's go after AQ only, not just anybody. AQ will survive "too generic" attacks just like roaches. Precision is the name of the game. We can use the bigger, heavier attacks (perhaps that's what you're looking for) wherever AQ gathers in large groups, like in Mali. We oughta be there helping France in their pest control operation.

Oh, don't worry about me, pal. I am just fine, sipping my coffee, and snickering at the sham before my eyes....;)

Obama not doing anything about Benghazi is a totally different issue than the fact that there was an attack.

No, they are not. It may be a 'chicken and egg' argument, but the weakness projected for the last four years by this dhimmi President, almost give a tacid nod to go forth unabaited, or at the very least without reprisal from this administration....

Along with that the issue of whether the attackers were Muslim or not is pretty much immaterial...

Oh that is just BS. Were, and are our current attackers in this world today, carrying forth these events, are they European Christians? Are they Jews? Are they Mexican Myian's? Are they Hindu, Budhists, Chinese, Russian, American? NO! They are Muslim radicals, bent on literal interpetration of the Koran, and Hadith in order to establish a global caliphate. Your attempt to minimize that fact aids them.

they were attackers, plain and simple, and needed to be dealt with.

And how is Obama dealing with them?

We DO NOT need to go in and carpet bomb Libya because 150 jacked up jihadi's took out a CIA compound.

And who said we did? Your strawman aside, surely there is something in between?

If you don't understand where I was coming from with the AWB comment then you haven't been paying attention.

Maybe you should focus on your own outrageous blather, and not use progressive inflammatory BS to make your points...I understood it, just was amazed at it....

Your making the same mistake others have made this morning...I never said we need to go in and bomb the crap out of Lybia...That is a strawman. I too feel that surgical action is required, but tell me, what is being done? NOTHING! Are we going to aid France in Mali? The answer is NO.

Well, at least they have the gonads to take action....I have no doubt that their population will be all up in arms, and hand wringing over killing the terrorists in the raid....No, there won't be any Algerian I think that will be blaming the Algerian government for the seizing of the facility in the first place....They will just be glad that it is over.

They should have accepted help from The UK..France...

The SAS..

But no..they had to deal with it in their own way...now everyone's dead!!

Yeah, the whole hostage thing just seems to work itself out when you just shoot everyone ...

But haven't you seen all the complaining about the extensive use of Predators? That's hardly nothing. It isn't quite as loud, especially in remote areas where the roaches (AQ) make their nests, so it may not "seem" like something is being done, but it is. And yeah, I would like for us to help out France in Mali. Put some eyes in the sky and thermobaric bombs in AQ nests. This is a great opportunity to get a bunch of them. We shouldn't let it pass by.

Just curious, who do you see is to blame for the civilians dying in Algeria?

Yes, we should have offered them tea, and crumpets, and some "pretty please" begging...That would have worked.

Are we using "Predators" in Mali?

Well, regardless of where anyone decides to place the brunt of the blame, it doesn't appear the Algerians did much to help the situation

Clumsy attempt by the Algerian ''special forces..

Mokhtar Belmokhtar was a cigarette smuggler...He was the head man..

I can only think that this may have been an attempt to gain his passage to ''Paradise''

From a fundamental Islamists point of view..

He knew that neither him or his followers would get out of there alive!!
