1) You've still failed to prove that she actually would be a distraction longer than about a week. "Because it just will" is not evidence.
2) If that's your only criteria for firing people, then once again, I'll ask you: If a gay teacher was being harassed by his students, and that was distracting from the learning environment, he should be fired right?

Well, I don't think former or current sex industry workers should work closely with children. If you think that is intolerant, I don't really care. :shrug: Maybe you could hire her to tutor your children? Other parents obviously don't feel comfortable with the situation, and neither does the school board.

No, I think they are a distraction to the children. School is supposed to be about the kids, not the teachers. The woman decided for herself to get into the pornography business, and like it or not there are ALWAYS consequences for your actions. This just happens to be a consequence.

If there were no consequences for our actions, then I would hate to think of how the world would be.

You can keerp arguing the same points ad infinitum, but the facts of the matter are she is fired, the district may legally fire her for a violation of the morals clause and your opinion isn't going to change that.

If she wants a teaching position, she'll have to try the private schools or try her luck in another state, though it'll be harder for her to lie about her past from here on.

Oh I'm well aware of what did happen, we're debating the morality of the matter. Fact is, she didn't commit a crime, and it never specifically said in their morals clause that she couldn't have been a porn star 7 years ago.

The morals clause essentially is a catch-all that they can use for anything. "Conduct non-becoming of a teacher" I'm sure you could argue that as being gay, or black, or whatever it is the parents and faculty of the area want to hate at the time.

No on that last (you're trying to stretch the point and it's breaking on you). The link I posted shows what you can be fired for under a morals clause in each state. California, where this happened, as you might guess is the most liberal. However, even in that liberal environment, they still recognise there is some past and/or present behavior that disqualifies one from teaching young minds.

No crime (unless she did in fact lie under oath), but lying on an application (commision or omission) IS legal and legitimate grounds for immediate dismissal anywhere in the US.

I guess then if my job finds out that I mowed lawns back in high school one summer and didn't put it on my resumee, they could fire me for it.

Point is, they can fire you for absolutely whatever reason they want, and that's exactly what they did. The administration didn't want to deal with the heat from the bible thumper parents, and so they took the easy route.

Again, in one of her videos she explicitly talks about the dangers her porn work represented to her teaching career. So she was well aware of it's relevant nature.

It is completely ridiculous that you would compare a choice of religion to a choice to do pornographic films. There is a HUGE difference there. If you can't see that, then you have BIG problems.

No, I wouldn't fire her. What she does in her personal life has absolutely no barring on her professional life as a teacher.

Not to mention - I find this extremely odd considering schools these days are obsessed with sex and believe students should screw like rabbits to the point of having free condom machines in student bathrooms.

Adults have sex and the circumstances surrounding their encounters should be moot.

IMO, this case would be on par with a school board banning a teacher from teaching because they're gay or lesbian.

Nope, I disagree. It's about the students and providing them with a good learning environment. This teacher is nothing but a distraction that the children shouldn't have to deal with. Little boys can't control what happens in their pants (as is the case with many men - LOL). They can just jump on the net anytime and watch this lady screwing whoever or whatever, being humiliated (according to other posters who claim to have seen some of her films), choked and gagged, simulated rape scenes, etc., etc., etc.

All of which they could've done whether she was their teacher or not.

Fact is what you believe constitutes a "good learning environment" is extremely subjective, and comes at the expense of an innocent person's job.
