Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted to hospital with blood clot following con

Re: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted to hospital with blood clot following

I hope you are correct, just to piss your right-wing nuts off! I love it! :lamo

More proof libs could care less about the Americans murdered in Benghazi

Re: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted to hospital with blood clot following

I'm guessing you were waving this flag just as proudly and widely during 2008 when there were CONSTANT comments about Palin's looks throughout the entire campaign (and even still today).
I was barely aware of my own ass in 2008 so no, I wasn't. I don't know what you think 2008 has to do with what I'm saying now, but I suspect you're trying to uncover partisan motivations where none exist. (I guess you didn't see my mention of Condoleezza Rice earlier in the thread.)

I do agree there's a certain level of sexism still ingrained in our society (Though I think where we may split is I think there will ALWAYS be a certain level, on both ends of that line) but I also think it's just as likely that it was done because it was the easiest means of insulting the other side. It's why we were treated to the strange Paul Ryan faces, Biden "foot in mouth" references, "Bushisms", hamburger/fast food jokes with Clinton followed by sex jokes with Clinton, crazy Howard Dean yells, Bob Dole 3rd person pencil wagging, and on and on. People tend to be lazy, and I think a lot of times when it comes to making negative comments towards people that's where it comes from. Is sometime the lazy path sexist or racist or bigoted or insensitive, or something similar? Sure. But I think often it's less motivated by those things then it is by simple laziness. Not excusing it, just saying I don't think it's the primary motivation often and I think that's part of why it won't fully go away.
The problem with your comparisons to criticisms of male politicians is that the criticisms you listed are based on criticizing the men as individuals not as men. When women like Clinton, Rice and Pelosi are criticized for their looks, that criticism is, in great part, about who they are as women in a society that judges women by what they offer physically much more than it does men. When Ryan, Biden and Dean are criticized, their criticisms are about their individual idiosyncrasies, not who they are as men.

I don't think the majority of people who make such remarks about female's looks are motivated by sexism either. I don't think The Man was motivated by sexism. I think that the ultimately sexist attitudes towards women that lead much of society to objectify them are just ingrained into much of society's psyche and that those attitudes need to be "called out".

Men comment on women's looks, that's the way it's always been and always will be. It's not sexist behavior. I never said that Hillary is a dummie because she's ugly. That would be a sexist comment. I didn't make any disparaging remarks about Hillary as a person and her qualifications, I just said she's really ugly.

Re: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted to hospital with blood clot following

The topic is mundane and revolves around a fact on how people normally perceive others that only takes a tiny amount of self acknowledgment to realize. You apparently lack the ability to self analyze and without the knowledge in toe to assist you on your way there was no hope you would of have ever managed to lift yourself out of calling everyone and everything sexist without my assistance that I begrudgingly gave you. So no, I'm not passionate about the topic, but I was admittedly annoyed you required assistance on the matter.
Did I kill your dog or something? LOL. I can't imagine why me talking about a topic that consider "boring" and "mundane" would require you to dedicate several posts on it in which you also personally attack me when I wasn't even talking to you. Whatever issues you have, they should probably worked out somewhere else because I'm not too good with feelings.

Not all men objectify women. Don't use other people to excuse your own sexist behavior.

Re: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted to hospital with blood clot following

Gotta disagree. While I heard a number on the right making comments, I heard a great deal on the left suggesting she got the nomination because she was hot or referencing her as just a pretty face, or as you said the "alaskan barbie" comments. Which even with that...if you're buying into the inherent sexism notion, how many guys in politics have you heard called "airheads", a term I heard often when discussing Palin's intelligence.

Both sides got in on that game from what I remember.

Airhead refers to her lack of substance rather than her appearance and that was the most constant criticism of Palin coming from the left. I do realize "airhead" speaks also, but in a lesser way, to her looks being the only reason she got the nomination, but discussing her intelligence is not discussing her looks. All that, "we have a hot nominee" crud, including the embarrassing blog post by Rich Lowry, following the V.P. debate.

I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can't be learned; it's either something you have or you don't, and man, she's got it.

How many times has that been written about a male politician? I'll spot you Chris Matthews and his tingling leg.

In the case of Palin, she wasn't dismissed for her looks so much as for what she was lacking and the fact that that was overlooked by team McCain (which many of them have admitted to).

A woman isn't only her appearance and giving her unmerited credit because she has a good one or denigrating her credentials for lack of it, is sexist.

Not all men objectify women. Don't use other people to excuse your own sexist behavior.

Like I already told you, it's not sexist behavior. And yes, ALL men (straight men anyway), comment on women's looks, that's not "objectifying" anything. If I were gay, I'd comment on men's looks. Simply commenting on a person's looks is NOT sexist behavior.

If you're a girl (I'm guessing you are, though I don't know), if a guy tells you that you're hot, or you're beautiful, or you're attractive, do you call them sexist for commenting on your looks?

You don't speak for all straight men so stop pretending you do. Not all men, straight or otherwise, judge the looks of every woman they see, particularly to the point where they think their crude comments are worth mentioning within the context of political discussions or health scares. That attitude is reserved for the shallow, usually sexist people who perpetuate sexist themes in society. Get it?

Up to you but I saw comments about his abs/p90X routine every week all over the place between his nomination and the election.

Right and some black people are racist against white people and some gay people discriminate against straight people. None of that changes the pattern of women, blacks and gays being the target of such issues more than their counterparts.

You make no sense. I commented on her looks, that's not sexist. I did not say, for instance, that she's a horrible person because she's ugly. Do you understand the difference, and how the former (simply commenting on her looks) is not sexist, while the latter would be?

Re: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted to hospital with blood clot following

I commented on her looks, that's not sexist.
You commented on her looks while admitting that you have, in your words, "never" judged a male politician by his looks. In other words, you judge her, a distinguished politician, by whether or not her looks please you as a straight man in a thread in which looks have literally nothing to do with the subject. Do you understand why that is a problem? Do you get why that is a sexist act?

Someone referenced how many times does that happen to a male politician and I provided the most recent incident I could think. Try turn it into any sort of discrimination issue you want in your own mind and assume whatever you want as I made no statement not related to the question. Careful, your soap box is wobbling a bit to the left....

Sure, on an entertainment/gossip site.

I didn't judge her credentials and qualifications on her looks, and I don't judge male politicians credentials and qualifications on their looks, because I'm not sexist. Get it?

Judging people's credentials on their looks is not the only way to be sexist. Get it? I know you're determined to limit sexism to that act, but it's not going to happen. When you are in discussion about a politician that has nothing to do with their appearance and yet you continue to judge her according to whether or not her appearance pleases you while not doing the same thing to men, you are expressing sexism. The focus on women's looks in society has sexist foundations and those foundations are not just "guys being guys" or some weak ****.

Oh please

White males have been basically neutered by you PC radical left wing nuts. They could be the most empathetic and caring "group" of human beings in human history, and you'd still paint them as racist bigoted sexist homophobes. Your accusations are a political tactic. It's not reality. It's always the same with Collectivists. People are divided into groups based upon race, sex, what they have sex with ect. You keep these victim groups in line by creating boogeymen and scaepgoats, while at the same time guilt tripping the current "enemy of the people". No group of people in your toxic cocktail of identity Politics is innocent of any of the crimes you project onto white males. Not one.

In other news:

NBC reporter raises Hillary Clinton questions - Kevin Robillard - POLITICO.com

All we have is a statement from her office. The hospital isn’t saying anything and the statement from her [office] says that she had this blood clot that stemmed from the concussion and she’s being treated with blood-thinning drugs,” Bazell continued. “The problem is that usually when blood clots come from concussions, they can’t be treated with blood [thinners.] So either it’s not really related to the concussion and she’s got a blood clot in her leg or something, or there’s something else going on that we’re not being told. And right now, we’re just sort of seeking that clarification and hoping for the best as she’s being observed.”

So is ABC News creating Conspiracy Theories now too?

Sorry, your description of what you believe to be sexist behavior, in reality is actually not sexist behavior. I don't know where you learned your definition of "sexist" from, but you didn't learn the right one.

Barack Obama is really friggin ugly! There, now I'm not sexist by your definition. Happy now? :)

Does it make a straightforward news story more interesting, like it's part of a greater, more sinister drama?

Edit: I have parents in their sixties, and the number of medical issues that befall them are so numerous it's like science fiction.

You mentioned TMZ, an entertainment/gossip site. Strictly speaking, the others are classified as news sites, no matter your opinion.
