Condoms for free at 22 city schools

Why should they if tax payer contributions fund their sexcapades? Why not just have sex become an alternative course to PE. You could call it intercourse. They're both good exercise.

Good Lord! Can you guys talk about anything without the hyperbole? Yes, let's have sex be an elective. (that's sarcasm *wink*wink*)

I remember when I was in school, I was nerdy and shy, didn't talk to women much. Then one day I bought a packet of condoms. Women just suddenly tried to jump on my dick, I had to fight to keep them off me, possessing condoms turned my whole sex life around.

There's a reason we don't allow kids to vote, it's because their ability to make rational decisions isn't as well developed, society tries to mitigate the damage, like making them be able to drive a car before they get a license, or not letting them purchase alcohol. Suddenly though, when it comes to sex, they should be on their own, and the responsibility to mitigate the worst of their decisions vanishes? If you take that stance on sex, surely you should take it on alcohol and driving too.

Hopefully, we all do/did try to teach our children well. My parents tried to teach us. Of course I didn't listen, and I enjoyed every minute of it. :2razz: For reasons I cannot understand, I was about as lucky as one man could be. At least I think I was. I haven't been back to Rock Hill, York, Spartanburg or Ocean Drive in years. There might be people over there trying to find me.

I hear you, but I am also afraid the genie is out of the bottle for the time being. The pendulum will swing back the other way, but probably not in our lifetimes.

I could not agree more. With puberty now starting at 10 or so for some kids, young and stupid has an entirely different meaning. I don't think I even knew about sex when I was 10. No one wants to raise a baby who is raising a baby. That is a reality parents of children face these days. That's one reason I think the free condoms are a good idea.

Well, it is fun. But I've always been more partial to practicing than actually reproducing.

Times are different and my kids are grown. All in all I preferred being young in the world I grew up in. It probably isn't as much fun being a kid these days.

:eek:t Go Dawgs!

Well if there are 10-year-olds having sex and getting pregnant, then the department of social services should be be involved. That is either sheer neglect or sexual abuse.

Not everyone agrees.

Quoting the whole sentence is helpful:

Anyway, there is nothing immoral about letting people suffer from their choices.

It is perhaps even better to allow it than otherwise.

I don't know how often it happens, but I have read that it happens at that age. I agree that the Department of Social Services should step in. But, if you live in a very conservative state as I do, they've cut any program with the word "social" in it. That or such a program is barely funded. Hell, darlin', we have more than a few people here who are opposed to spending money on free rubbers! They aren't inclined to support social service programs.

Something is definitely wrong in the home if a child that young is sexually active.

Maybe if our government didn't spend funds like drunken sailors we could have some money for better social service programs. Did you know that as of fiscal year 2012, the government is taking in 202 BILLION DOLLARS PER MONTH? But they need more? :doh

"Do the math"? What in the heck do you think a mathematician did? Until there exists birth control that is 100% effective, abstinence is the only solution to guarantee kids aren't having kids. You say abstinence isn't natural. However, if someone can analyze cause/effect or risk/reward worth a crap then they should realize that several years of screwing as a teenager isn't worth risking the damage to your adulthood. The more you justify taking such risks by saying "it's natural", the more careless and irresponsible you teach the next generation to be.

Speak for yourself. I'm here to tell you I shagged my way through life from 16 to 23. Then I married a Baptist and sex quickly went to hell. None of my misspent youth damaged my adulthood, or my manhood. I wouldn't change a thing. While you were working all the risks out with a pencil I was having fun with your girlfriend. We both enjoyed it! Often.

Divorce was no fun, but being divorced was outstanding. There were a lot of wonderful, exciting, risk taking women out there who also wanted to LIVE life. Bless them all.

Well, we can't possibly go to far-off foreign lands and kill people to protect them from getting killed by other people if we don't spend waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than we need on "defense".

Which Obama has continued to do.

As for 10 year olds having sex, I cannot and do not even want to think about it. I'm sure most people here know/knew where their young children were and who they were with. My major pet peeve with parents now is that I see far too many, far too many who do not understand that parenting is sacrifice. It is rewarding. I think the greatest word I've ever heard or will ever hear is "dad". But, as I am sure you know, parenting is hard work. It is about giving up many of the things you enjoyed prior to having kids. It's about being the example for your children to follow. It is sacrifice, even the little things.

I don't understand how a 10 year old has the freedom to have sex. Sadly, society seems not to want to deal with it if it costs money.

I forgot to add the what 98%(if used correctly) prevention of pregnancy and the prevention of STDs
IF used correctly...and WHEN used correctly. Its nothing but a good thing. Small price to pay IMO.

I know that I still feel shocked and disgusted when I hear about stuff like that, and things like this end up happening to children who are not wanted by their mothers. So there is just another point made why the condom program would be a benefit.

Philly schools are overwhelmingly Black. Better condoms then more unwanted babies and disease. Anyway you look
at it, a bio/cultural disaster.

Well, I can't say I disagree with what you put forward here, other than teens today are I think a little more driven, and believe it or not smarter than we were, so, as parents we can only go so far. As a father of a daughter, I guess I just don't want to picture her in that way, nor her friends for that matter. But, we were successful I think, she's in collage now for a nursing degree, and no kids.

I guess it boils down to someone else making things like that available to the kids, is in some way, just not right. But I do know intellectually that this is a problem among teens, and we must do something to head it off.

My experience is that deficiencies in one area are absorbed in another. Crack head mother spends her welfare and food stamps on crack. School feedls kids.

What does that have to do with what I said? I say we give out free condoms, and make access to contraception and education not an issue. Then, we can say, "okay, now its on you" and start making cuts to welfare.

Or maybe you could recognize humor when you see it.

There is a disconnect there that you are not seeing. You are laboring under the delusion that welfare mothers spend their welfare money on their children. They do not. Cuts to welfare will accomplish nothing but to create more neglected kids which we well eventually have to pick up the cost for anyway. There are all kinds of opportunities in school. Just because the opportunity is there doesn't keep the government from spending my money on a bunch of worthless people as it is now. The only 'cuts' that will be accomplished is that the baby mamma will only have 2 kids for us to support instead of 12. But it's worth it in the long run.

You clearly are not understanding what I am saying. I'm saying, welfare queen should not get her welfare; but in order to morally justify it we should provide sexual education and free condoms.

What YOU are not understanding is that there is a generation out there that is NOT going to live any way except off someone else. You really need to do a little slumming and see the numbers. This government is not going to do what you suggest because it is not prepared for the civil unrest. Reality is reality. And you clearly have never worked with the welfare class. So you don't see reality. Your theory will not hold up.

I'll support welfare having the condition of tubes tied or vasectomy. This is well below the cost of a child. The individual can undo the procedure when they can afford it themselves.

I really want to see the public reaction to forced sterilization because it worked out so well in the past. Since people take things too seriously over the internet this is sarcasm.

We're not talking about forced. Consider it motivation to avoid welfare and the prevention of making things worse if you choose to accept welfare.

You aren't addressing the point whatsoever.
The point being that providing condoms for free will do a few things-
A. Prevent babies and abortions-saving taxpayers money
B. Prevent spread of disease-saving taxpayers money
C. Avoid (potentially) ruining kid's future and that kid's kid's future
